Hello everyone!
I'm Marta, an Italian 22 years-old girl.
This october I got my bachelor degree in energy engineering in the University of Bologna. The reason why I chose this path is because I really think that we need to change our ways of living and our ways of producing energy in order to save our planet. After my graduation I have been working until April and now I want to use my time and money travelling, volunteering and doing new experiences! I have been volunteering in Armenia for one month in a youth centre; now I'm in Portugal, I hiked part of the Rota Vicentina and now I'm volunteering through workaway. Next week I'll be back in Italy and I'd love to do another volunteering experience through workaway!
I have many hobbies: I really like music, I like to dance, I like to spend time outside in the nature and of course to travel! I think of myself as a curious person and always wanting to do something or learn something new.
I had a couple of experiences with workaway and I found it very stimulating so I'm looking forward to the next one! Before these, I already experienced living in a host family and adapting to a new culture and way of living because when I was 16 I went to study in Finland as an exchange student for 7 months.
I have been a scout for almost all my life and this gave me the opportunity to spend time outside, sleeping in a tent, spending time in the nature with the only essential things in my backpack and so on. It also taught me the spirit of helping others, volunteering, enjoying little things in life, enjoying other people's presence and sharing as much as I can with them.
I decided to join workaway because, living in a town as Bologna, I sometimes feel like I need to take some distance from my routine and from the city; possibly by being in the nature, learning something, meeting new interesting people and joining some kind of sustainable project.
I think these are the most important things about myself but I will be happy to answer to any of your questions.
I can't wait to do my next experience with workaway, to get my hands dirty and to gain some new perspective!

As I said before, I am a scout so I know how to make a fire, cut wood, build some simple things, ...
I am able to do some simple jobs in the house and in the garden, I play a little bit the guitar. During my last workaway experience i learnt how to use the sander, I gave the wood sealer and I did some little jobs in the garden. I don't consider myself a good cooker but I can always help. I speak Italian, English and also some Finnish. If there are some kids or someone who needs help, I am good in math and other scientific subjects so I could give a hand with homeworks or just teach something new.
I am an accurate person so when I do something I like to do it in the best way that I can and I am able to understand when something is needed to be done without having someone always telling me what to do (I might need some advice but I'll take initiative).
In my everyday life as a student I don't do often practical activities so I might not have many skills but I really like to learn and I always try and do my best! :)
