Kia ora my name is Beatrice, I’m a New Zealander of 26 originally from Auckland. I’m currently finding myself in a ‘in between’ stage in life and subsequently am motivated by a change of scene and the pull of fresh air and nature.

After about 7 years in Wellington studying and then working, I’m back to spend some time with family in Tāmaki. Before deciding my next long term move, I’m lucky to be able to dedicate a few months trying out some work in exchange for board across NZ. I’d love nothing more than to be outside and in a different (preferably nature-filled) location.

Unfortunately I can’t offer anything in the way of specialist carpentry skills BUT I am generally fit, respectful and will enthusiastically give a variety of tasks a go. I’m also happy to try anything more technical with guidance.

I’m motivated by friends, people feeling heard in life and lending a hand to those in need. Happiness for me is thriving birdlife, a satisfying meal after a swim in the sea, and having a good laugh.

My ’professional’ expertise is based in writing and reading….which likely won’t be of much use on Workaway! Other skills and experience I’ve gained over the years include:
*Fruit thinning and picking work in the Hawkes Bay (involved using and carrying ladder)
*Basic (but enthusiastic!) home gardening work
* Volunteering with Zealandia in Wellington - trimmed invasive plants away from predator-proof fence
* Volunteer tree planting and ‘releasing’ (cutting back grass from native plants) in Papakura
*Worked the checkout and stocked shelves at local Four Square for almost 2 years in youth
* 2 years as a part-time receptionist
*Babysitting infant nephew and good with young kids
* Generally fit (yoga, gym and tramping)

Was noch ...

I’m hoping that New Zealander hosts won’t be deterred by me being a Kiwi - although I’m not an exotic and worldly traveller (yet), I come from a not-so-outdoorsy family so I’ll likely be just as enthusiastic or awe-struck by the chance to live and spend time in another part of the country.

Other hobbies or interests include reading (typically fiction but I love a good biography), yoga, tap-dancing, snorkelling, plant/tree identification and bird-watching.
