I was delighted to stay with Robyn and Malcolm for 9 days to help with the laundry and feed the ducks and chickens. The place was very pleasant with a lush garden. And my hosts were the kindest. I'm blessed to have been able to stay here, while still being able to enjoy the island. I recommend it 100%. Thanks again :)

We had a wonderful week at Robyn and Malcolm’s place. We felt really welcomed. It is a small hostel with a very beautiful garden and ocean view from the outside breakfast table. The work was easy. Most we enjoyed the Medlands Beach. It is five Minutes to walk and has fantastic waves . We could use bodyboards from Robyn and Malcolm… :)

Sorry it has taken me so long to write my review. Was a delight having Isabel and Freiderike stay. They fitted in really well and approached all tasks with an open mind. We achieved a lot and I hope they have the best time with the rest of their travels in New Zealand.

Loved having Othille and Damien staying. They are cheerful, helpful and a pleasure to have around. They embraced the Island and had a great look around and my garden is looking much happier with their help. All the best with the rest of your travels.
We had a wonderful stay with Robyn and Malcolm. The island is absolutely beautiful and Medland Beach (the one near the property) is truly the greatest one on Great Barrier. We stayed for a fortnight there and we never got bored of the work, Robyn make sure to offers diverses tasks (gardening, cleaning, weeding,...). She was also really attentive

The place itself is very lovely between the ducks, the birds, the people and the nature, it's a little hidden gem (it was hard to leave...).
Everybody is welcoming on the island, it's really easy to hitch around, it's a great way to travel around the island and meet people!
We really enjoyed having Wout staying. He fitted in well and made such a difference to our gardens. Was a pleasure and he is welcome back anytime. Cheers Robyn

However you need to hitchhike to get to places if you don't have a car there. But that's not really a problem since there are lots of people who are willing to take you.

Lots of walks to do around the island - hitching a ride to explore further North or South is necessary as it’s a pretty sizeable island and walking will only get you so far but I felt very safe and that it was part of the experience. We spent an absolutely amazing 10 days with Robyn and Malcom on the island. They are really wonderful people and the place is just incredible! Beautiful beach just 5 mins down the road and ocean-view from our hut. Couldn't have asked for a better start on our journey! Hope to come by again sometime :)
