Hello,

My name is John, I am a Yoga Teacher, Writer, Photographer, and Digital Nomad who loves to travel with purpose. My goal with Workaway is not only to travel to foreign destinations but to experience the life and culture of the countries that I visit with the help of Workaway hosts. These experiences I can then share with the world through my online profiles, bringing recognition and new volunteers to your community.

I bring a lifetime of experiences and knowledge with me when I come to your location. I have experience in the following areas:
Horse handling (riding, grooming, feeding, some training)
Horticulture
Gardening (Organic)
Carpentry (I can use all forms of power tools and hand tools) (worked on demolition construction)

----I want to learn to sail! My goal is to have my own boat by the end of 2024 and if there are any sailors out there in need of refit help, please reach out to me! I can handle any type of work associated with electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and some of the rigging work. And I can sew! ----

Associate degree in Computer Network Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Security
Masters Degree in Management – Homeland Security

Some knowledge of off-grid living including solar, water storage, wind production, etc.
Knowledge of building garden beds (raised and in the ground)

I have spent the last 8 years learning yoga and meditation and I am a 200 RYT in Hatha Yoga. I bring an intimate knowledge of natural healing methods from both herbs and healing massage techniques including Thai, and Chinese massage therapy, reflexology, and herbalism.

For the last 4 winter seasons, I have helped manage a 3.5-star hotel in the Japanese Alps, with duties ranging from training staff to filling in for the chef. This role has brought me immense knowledge of the hotel industry's guest services.

I am a Vegan. No dairy, minimal gluten, no refined sugars, health, and body-conscious eating.
I love to cook! I am very adept at cooking any type of meal!

I am not remotely squeamish and can handle anything you throw at me.

Self-starter, able to manage myself, if I am given a task it is completed in a timely manner and is correctly done.

I have 3 children of my own ranging from 13 to 22
