We are a couple of keen travelers with a love for the uncertain. After travelling Europe from our homebase in Germany in the last couple of years, we decided to give full-time rubbertramping another shot in North America in 2024. Since moving into our truck camper last year we've been roaming around the West of the US while we are now waiting for a second summer in Alaska and the Yukon. Earlier, we've been living on the road in Patagonia, New Zealand and Australia.

Before hitting the road, we tried to contribute to society by teaching and social counselling within the general education system in Germany. Being a teacher (Jan) and being a social counsellor (Leo) tells quite a bit about us as persons: We love to help humans through interaction, guidance and listening - whatever is necessary. After our first years in our respective jobs we came to the conclusion to look at them from a distant perspective and here we are.

During a trip in New Zealand in 2020 we grew together as Leonie started to join Jan on his adventures and since then we tried to roam around as much as possible while working in regular jobs. In that way, we managed to travel to places like Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Lapland, Iceland), the Mediterranean (Italy, Croatia, Slovenia) and the European Alps. Remote places like Lapland and Patagonia have captured us most, so the Far North of Canada and the US are big goals of ours.

We both worked in an array of jobs before ending up in the school system, whatever made travelling possible was an option: While Jan worked as a window fitter, for a paper manufacturer and as a warehouseman (when he was not teaching kids of all ages) Leo knows her way around a kitchen, cared for children and people with mental illness or served during German Festivals. Moreover Leo is the biggest doglover and dreams of working with or caring for animals.

We build our relationships around harmony and humour and we love when things align. We are willing to work hard if we feel that it is for good people or a good cause. While being more than happy to chip in our skills as educators or counselors, we'd love to get the chance to help in other fields of life, too.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Jan is a teacher in physical education and English as a second Language. Further, he would be able to teach German and has experience in teaching other subjects to younger students, too. He could be considered an adventure pedagogue given his love for teaching and for the great outdoors. Having a German license to host group hikes in schools, he'd be more than happy to take your kids or other guests on adventures. Being able-bodied, he'd be ready to take on physical labor. Besides of that I'm a confident cook and caretaker of houses/ cabins lodges or whatever you have :) Jansi has no problem with solitude and can take responsibility in his own hands.

Leo has an amazing set of skills regarding bringing out the best out of young people. She knows how to communicate to solve problems but is also not shy to get her hands dirty. She knows her way around the kitchen, the laundry and the yard and is an outstanding baker in her free time. Further she loves to take care of animals as she always had animals around her family.

Was noch ...

We love hiking and backpacking and would love to be able to do so in the Far North. We always dreamed of canoeing or kayaking but didn't have the chance or the guidance to do so yet!
