Beschreibung

Hello there :) My name is Hilde, I am Dutch and have lived in Australia for the past 9 years. I have a passion for travelling, language learning, farming and holistic living and I think Workaway is the best way to combine all these interests!

At the moment I'm staying with a self-sufficient community in Austria and looking for a place where I can learn more about animal care, food production (I'm very interested in cheese making!) and I also enjoy helping with construction, household tasks and childcare.

My dream is to build up a homestead so I can be creative and produce healthy food. I really enjoy cooking and am passionate about fermenting things like sauerkraut, kimchi and making sourdough bread. And in my free time I also like to make soap and play sports.

I am adaptable, hardworking and eager to share my skills and learn new things!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I'm familiar with the basics of gardening, food processing and animal care. I used to be part of a community garden in Australia where I regularly helped with weeding, taking care of the trees and the compost. And I used to help my parents with their bees and chickens.

During my previous workaways I also gained experience in:
- milking sheep
- cleaning stalls
- butchering and meat processing
- weeding and growing vegetables from seed
- canning vegetables
- making a variety of cheeses and yogurt
- drystone wall restoration

I also love to cook:-)

Was noch ...

I was born in the Netherlands, and moved to Australia with my family when I was 13. I've loved traveling and learning languages ever since I was young. I've seen a lot of the world already but there is so much more to see! Now that I've graduated from university I've spent a month backpacking Europe with my friend and started doing Workways in May. I am keen to experience many different ways of life and to learn practical skills.

P.s. I don't have dietary requirements and I'm a very adventurous eater who likes to eat and cook organ meats like liver and heart. I'm a meat-loving omnivore and like to avoid processed seed oils (like canola, soybean oil, sunflower seed oil) where possible.
