I am currently aspiring to do a 1-month Workaway in Ghana in spring 2026 and still looking for a travel buddy!

Hello!
My name is Flora and I'm from a small town in the north of Germany. My passion lies in nature-conservation, community involvement and a sustainable lifestyle. I have also worked in politics and women's empowerment for some time now and it is a topic that I am passionate about.
I am currently doing my Master's in Political Science but whenever time allows it, I am visiting other countries with the help of Workaway ;)

In the past, I did a voluntary service in a Portuguese national park where I spent every day planting trees and bushes to prevent bushfires and replace invasive species with native ones. In this project, the other volunteers and I also facilitated initiatives to involve the local community in our work. I think

I’m a very active and hands-on person, so you’ll often find me helping in the kitchen (I love cooking and baking), practising languages (French, Portuguese, Dutch), doing yoga or dancing. I really enjoy being creative and getting involved—whether it’s organising small events, singing in a choir, drawing, crocheting

During my studies, I led different initiatives to live more sustainably: We formed "eco-bricks" out of plastic waste, built a website to share everyday items so they would be more sustainably used and organised events to raise funds to help our local homeless shelter. Volunteering has become a big part of my life, not only because it allows me to contribute to causes I care about, but because it pushes me to collaborate with and learn alongside people who share the same motivation.

I would describe myself as curious and motivated to learn new practical skills. I enjoy working outdoors and I am not afraid of physical tasks. In the past, my studies and my voluntary service have led me to live in 4 different countries, which taught me how to adapt quickly to new environments and be open-minded to whatever comes my way.

In my free time, I love cooking plant-based meals, dancing, going to concerts and doing yoga. I truly enjoy being around people, learn from different ways of living and contribute wherever I can. Workaway feels like the perfect way to combine these interests with my desire to see more of the world and support sustainable projects.

Other than that, I'm also interested in a sustainable lifestyle and try to eat vegan and as "zero waste" as possible.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Since I have started my studies, I was constantly involved in event management projects. I have organised Portuguese concerts and film nights, political conferences about diversity and inclusion in German society, a fundraising event for the local homeless shelter and many other small-scale events for the students at my university. In my second year, a group of friends and I also set up a website that everyone on our campus could use to borrow things from others for free so that our belongings could be used more sustainably in our community. I have also worked in various front desks, for example at our local Unicef office and at a doctor's office so one of my best skills is staying organised, focused and friendly.

I love cooking and have worked in the kitchen and as a housekeeper in a hotel-I find that cleaning and tidying up can be quite relaxing and take your mind off of other things.

During my voluntary service in a Portuguese national park, I got used to working outside no matter what weather conditions. We were mainly pIanting trees, but I would also be interested in some gardening, especially growing vegetables or fruit, as I have done that during a work experience a few years ago and loved it!

I'm constantly improving my skills in different languages, I speak fluent German and English, quite a bit of French and I am also learning Portuguese and Dutch. I feel that languages open up a completely new world so I try to learn the basics in every place that I go to.

I am good at taking care of animals, I've had rabbits, a cat, dogs and I have done horse riding for a few years as well.

As you can see, I'm always looking for something new to try or to learn so if I haven't mentioned the skill you are looking for, chances might be that I am very enthusiastic to learn it. ;)

Was noch ...

I am very passionate about politics and women's rights, which is why I am studying political science. One of my favourite subjects at university was critical theories, especially feminism and postcolonialism which taught us about non-Western ways to theorise about international relations and politics.
