  Hi! My name is Diego and I own a farm in Aquitania, Boyacá (Colombia). In this beautiful environment I realise tours on horseback with tourists through the Páramo hills, with a stunning view of the Tota Lake. I own about 15 horses, which need care, attention and training. Some of them were rescued from maltreatment. In the small village of Toquilla (Aquitania) we are all neighbours and the community will welcome you with open arms. My family lives nearby and helps me with the tours. I am looking for volunteers who would like to help me with the work both inside and outside of the house, especially with the horses. What I have to offer is a real Colombian experience: living in a small town surrounded by breathtaking nature and of course a lot of animals.
  
  Hola: Soy Diego y tengo una granja en Aquitania, Boyacá (Colombia). En este hermoso entorno hago cabalgatas con turistas por el páramo y con vista a la Laguna de Tota. Tengo alrededor de 15 caballos, que necesitan atención y entrenamiento. Algunos de ellos son caballos rescatados del maltrato. En el pequeño pueblo de Toquilla (Aquitania) somos todos vecinos y la comunidad te dará la bienvenida. Mi familia vive cerca y me ayuda con las cabalgatas. Busco voluntarios que me puedan ayudar con el trabajo dentro y fuera de la finca, especialmente con los caballos. Lo que tengo para ofrecerte es una experiencia realmente Colombiana, vive la experiencia de vivir en un pueblo pequeño bonito rodeado de mucha naturaleza y por supuesto muchos animales.
  
  Hoi! Mijn naam is Diego en ik heb een boerderij in Aquitania, Boyacá (Colombia). In deze prachtige omgeving organiseer ik buitenritten voor toeristen door de Páramo heuvels, met geweldig uitzicht over het Tota meer. Ik heb ongeveer 15 paarden, die verzorging, aandacht en training nodig hebben. Sommige paarden zijn gered van mishandeling. In het kleine dorp Toquilla (Aquitania) zijn we allemaal buren en de gemeenschap zal je met open armen ontvangen. Mijn familie woont vlakbij en helpt me met de buitenritten. Ik ben op zoek naar vrijwilligers die me kunnen helpen met het werk binnen en buiten het huis, maar bovenal met de paarden. Wat ik je te bieden heb is een echte Colombiaanse ervaring, de ervaring van het leven in een mooi klein dorp, omgeven door veel natuur en natuurlijk veel dieren.

  In this small town you will live the real Colombian life. Most of the people that live here have grown up here as well and will teach you all about the Colombian lifestyle. You will try out traditional meals, join the neighbours in a game of tejo, and learn how the people live from land cultivation and animals. Check out the process of milking cows and making cheese, or learn how clothing is created from sheep wool. Practise your Spanish and emerge yourself in the country lifestyle!
  
  En este pequeño pueblo vivirás la auténtica vida colombiana. La mayoría de la gente que vive acá también ha crecido acá y te enseñará todo sobre el estilo de vida colombiano. Probarás comidas tradicionales, te unirás a los vecinos, jugar al tejo y aprenderás cómo se vive del cultivo de la tierra y de los animales. Echa un vistazo al proceso de ordeñar vacas y hacer queso, o aprende cómo se confecciona la ropa con lana de oveja. Practique su español y sumérjase en la vida rural.
  
  In dit kleine dorp leef je het échte Colombiaanse leven. De meeste mensen die hier wonen zijn hier ook opgegroeid en zullen je alles leren over de Colombiaanse lifestyle. Je kunt traditionele gerechten uitproberen, samen met de buren een potje tejo spelen en leren hoe de mensen leven van het land en de dieren. Neem een kijkje bij het koeien melken en kaas maken, of leer hoe er van schapenwol kleding wordt gemaakt. Oefen je Spaans en dompel jezelf onder in het plattelandsleven!

  Tasks inside of the house:
  - Cleaning
  - Hospitality: welcome guests, give information, cultural exchange, etc.
  - Online visibility: manage social media, create content, edit website texts, etc.
  
  Tasks around the house:
  - Cleaning of terrain

  Tasks with regards to the animals:
  - Feeding cats, dogs, and horses every morning and evening
  - Riding outside (in the mountains, Colombian style)
  - Teaching young horses
  - Training of all horses
  - Saddling horses for tours
  - Bringing horses to / collecting from the hills / the house
  - General care: feeding, brushing, catching, horseshoe checking/changing, equipment care, etc.

  Unterkunft

  Volunteers stay in my house at the farm. I sleep upstairs, while volunteers can choose a room downstairs. There are various rooms available, depending on the number of guests that stay in the house. Normally you can have a private room. Most rooms are equipped with a double bed. Both floors are equipped with a bathroom with a toilet. In the living room you can watch tv (chromecast available), relax on the couch, and cuddle with the cats. Three times a day we share a meal at the dining table. Volunteers prepare these meals: using either their own recipes or trying out Colombian ones. There is a sufficient amount of fruit and bread to eat as a snack during the day. Because of my work I have to travel every now and then, so you will have the house to yourself occasionally.
  
  Los voluntarios se alojan en mi casa en la granja. Yo duermo en el piso de arriba y los voluntarios pueden elegir una habitación en el piso de abajo. Hay varias habitaciones disponibles, dependiendo del número de huéspedes que se alojen en la cabaña. Normalmente se puede tener una habitación privada. La mayoría de las habitaciones están equipadas con una cama doble. Ambas plantas están equipadas con un cuarto de baño con WC. En la sala de estar se puede ver la televisión (con chromecast), relajarse en el sofá y acurrucarse con los gatos. Tres veces al día compartimos una comida en la mesa del comedor. Los voluntarios preparan sus propias comidas: utilizando sus propias recetas o probando recetas colombianas. Hay suficiente fruta y pan para comer como snack durante el día. Debido a mi trabajo tengo que viajar de vez en cuando, así que tendrás la casa para ti solo ocasionalmente.
  
  Vrijwilligers verblijven in mijn huis. Zelf slaap ik boven, vrijwilligers kunnen beneden verblijven. Er zijn verschillende kamers beschikbaar, afhankelijk van het aantal gasten dat in het huis verblijft. In de meeste gevallen heb je een privé kamer. De meeste kamers zijn uitgerust met een tweepersoonsbed. Zowel boven als beneden is er een badkamer met douche en wc. In de woonkamer kun je tv kijken (met chromecast), relaxen op de bank en met de katten knuffelen. Drie maal per dag eten we samen een maaltijd aan de eettafel. Vrijwilligers bereiden deze maaltijden en staan vrij om recepten uit hun eigen land te serveren of juist typisch Colombiaanse gerechten te maken. Er is voldoende fruit en brood aanwezig als tussendoortje. Ik slaap niet iedere nacht in het huis in verband met mijn werk, daarom zul je het huis soms voor jezelf hebben.

  In this area you can enjoy the wonders of nature by visiting nearby towns or simply taking one of the horses for a ride. Public transport consists of buses. Visit for example: Villa de Leyva, Laguna de Tota, Mongui and Yopal.
  
  En esta zona se puede disfrutar plenamente de las maravillas de la naturaleza visitando los pueblos cercanos o simplemente dando un paseo en uno de los caballos. El transporte público consiste en autobuses. Visite por ejemplo: Villa de Leyva, Laguna de Tota, Mongui y Yopal.
  
  In deze omgeving kun je volop genieten van de natuur door een bezoek te brengen aan nabijgelegen dorpen of simpelweg een rit te maken op een van de paarden. Het openbaar vervoer bestaat uit bussen. Bezoek bijvoorbeeld: Villa de Leyva, Laguna de Tota, Mongui en Yopal.
