Hi. Maho. So sorry for the late reply. I through I had done it. Bit bloody slack of me ah. Well what can I say, could say quite a bit but it would take me all day lol. Maho was lovely to have here. She just filled into the routine round here like a glove. Dottie loved her to bits. We did the usual gardening stuff round the section. We had Kiwi English lessons lol. Went for walks and a bit of house cleaning. She was polite and tidy round the house. Would enjoy having you stay again if your ever back in NZ. Thank you very much for all your help.

I am delighted to share my thoughts on Bara, a remarkable volunteer teacher at our Foreign Language School in rural Cambodia. Her dedication to teaching English to the village students has been nothing short of inspiring. From the moment Bara stepped into the classroom, it was evident that she possesses a genuine passion for education. Her teaching style is both engaging and effective, making learning a fun and interactive experience. Bara employs creative methods to explain complex concepts, ensuring that every student, regardless of their initial skill level, feels included and encouraged. Bara’s ability to connect with her students is truly special. She takes the time to understand their individual needs, fostering a supportive environment where they feel safe to express themselves. Her patience and enthusiasm motivate the students to participate actively, and it’s heartwarming to witness their progress over time. Moreover, Bara goes beyond the curriculum. She introduces cultural elements that enrich her students' understanding of the English language, helping them see its relevance in a global context. Her commitment to fostering a love for learning is evident, and her impact on the students' lives is profound. In summary, Bara is an extraordinary volunteer teacher whose contributions to the New school are invaluable. Her passion, creativity, and dedication not only enhance the educational experience for her students but also empower them to dream big and aspire for a brighter future. I wholeheartedly recommend Bara for any teaching role, as she continues to make a difference in the lives of the children she serves.

I loved my time at la cruz! I extended my stay because it becomes like a home. It's amazing to see the positive work being done with the animals and the community and it feels so special to be a part of it. The staff and volunteers are welcoming and the shifts are well organised and fair. It feels like a safe space if you have any concerns or questions. Living without electricity and internet becomes the norm and it became really refreshing to be off the phone. I think living in this way encourages more connection with others and the surroundings. The town isn't too far away when you want signal again and there's a nice place volunteers can access where you can spend time and have a swim. It's such a unique experience it feels so special being surrounded by the jungle and seeing the progress of the monkeys is so rewarding, I'll miss them so much.

Thank you so much to ULA for the warm hospitality. Everyone here was incredibly kind and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The vegetarian meals were delicious and plentiful every day. Most importantly, working here taught me a different perspective on intention. Even something as simple as mopping the floor can transform when done with the mindset of benefiting others—it completely changes your energy. This journey is one I’ll cherish and reflect on for a lifetime :)

Had my first Workaway experience with Amanda. Even though it was a short stay I couldn’t ask for a better experience. The place is peaceful and surrounded by nature, and it’s a good location to explore the close by beaches. The tasks are fair and the place to stay is very comfortable and private. I would recommend to everybody. Thanks Amanda for hosting me!

It was a real pleasure having Ana with us for a while! She is smart, understands everything quickly and is very independent. She integrated super easily with the other volunteers that were already here and helped create a great environment both for the guests and the team.

We had the privilege of hosting Johanna at our new facility in Guu for three weeks, and honestly, it was such a wonderful experience. She’s kind, positive, easy-going, and just the type of volunteer anyone would be lucky to have around. She came at a time when most of our girls were in school, with only three older girls and their kids at home, but she immediately jumped in and made herself super useful. She spent time teaching Vivian (who’s waiting to join school next year) Mathematics, CRE, and English. She also stepped up big time when we received a lost-and-found child from the Department of Children Services. She handled the case with the Children’s Office on her own, with so much professionalism and care. Johanna also embraced our sports program with so much energy. Not only did she support the kids in soccer training, but she even bought equipment for badminton and volleyball, and helped supervise the daily training sessions at the facility. Thanks to her, I even got to visit Decathlon for the first time 😂. And as if that wasn’t enough, she noticed how much laundry was taking up the girls’ time, and decided to buy us a huge washing machine so the girls could focus more on their studies. It’s still new to us 😅, but it’s already a blessing and will definitely serve its purpose in the long run. She fit in so easily with both the staff and the girls. Whether it was cheering the Kenyan team at the stadium, taking the girls out for fun, or just being there for them every day, she always had their happiness at heart. That’s something really special about her. The girls also loved her cooking especially her spaghetti, which became such a hit that some would sneak out in the night just to grab extra plates 😂. And she was so sweet with the little ones, Baby Gift (our “crying hero” 😅) and Baby Cecilia, caring for them with so much patience and love. Johanna is flexible, hardworking, fun, and incredibly friendly. She won hearts not only in our home but even in town.Everyone wanted to be her friend. Hosting her wasn’t just about having a volunteer, we gaining a real sister and friend. We are so grateful for the time we had together, and we already miss her a lot. Even the community keeps asking, “Where is our mzungu?” 😅. Johanna, you’ll always have a family here in Oyugis. We wish you all the best back home and can’t wait to see you again. Highly, highly recommended to any host, you’ll be very lucky to have her!

I had a wonderful stay with Rudy and his three lovely dogs. Rudy shared a lot with me about the area and the local culture, and he kindly took me along to meet his friends. One highlight was a bus tour to a lake high up in the mountains — it was so generous of them to invite me. I also got to practise my Spanish at a birthday party with many of his friends, which was great fun. On the 17th and 18th we enjoyed a fantastic barbecue at his beautiful place in the middle of the forest. It was a lot of fun, and we even got to try the warm jacuzzi! Rudy is incredibly smart and talented, and has built so much by himself. Staying at his place is not only relaxing, but also a great opportunity to learn about everything that comes with owning and caring for a forest property. During my stay, I helped with painting a cabin, cutting the grass, cleaning the forest, building two tables, and even creating some wooden art. It was a truly rewarding and enjoyable experience. Thank you Rudy and I'll let you know if I'll be in the area :)

A wonderful, kind, intelligent young man with great insights and life experiences. It was a treat to have conversations about all topics and he was very helpful with all of the tasks, especially taking care of the animals, which they all loved him, but also on the many other things that needed to be done around the farm. 100% recommended, it would be a loss for any host to miss an opportunity to work with Olly. Much love! come back soon.

We had a wonderful experience with Huw and Rhianna - after the initial shock of discovering they were both English, not Welsh :) Huw and Rhianna are both lovely, enthusiastic people who came prepared with their own gloves - a very good sign. `We had many enjoyable chats over lunch and they truly helped us knock the garden into shape, putting in long days of weeding without complaint - not the most glamorous job. Both Huw and Rhianna were wonderful with our kids - they really connected and our boys thought they were great fun.|| We were very happy to have them and pleased when they extended their stay an extra week. Highly recommended!

Deborah and Albert were an absolute joy to host! They joined us on September 13th and stayed until September 24th. During their stay, they were incredibly helpful in every way – from organising, cleaning, gardening, and cooking. Thanks to Deborah and Albert, other guests felt welcomed, included, and inspired to contribute as well. Their positive attitude and friendly nature made everything run so much smoother, and they got along wonderfully with everyone. I can only speak in the highest regard of Deborah and Albert and am confident that they will be an invaluable addition to any team, bringing dedication, positivity, and a collaborative spirit that uplifts everyone around them. I feel very fortunate to have met them. I would happily welcome them back anytime and hope our paths cross again someday!

I had such a wonderful time with Bronwyn and her dogs/puppies. It was great learning about her business and the process of breeding, training and selling her puppies. Bronwyn was such a lovely and kind person towards me and everyone who came. It was really an amazing time and place to be. Hopefully, I can come back soon.

Momoko is a truly wonderful person who quickly won everyone’s hearts with her charm and kindness. From the very first day, she showed a genuine willingness to help and a positive spirit that made her presence unforgettable. She was always ready to contribute in any way needed, and her support was a great gift for us. One of the most beautiful qualities she brought was her incredible patience and tenderness with the children. She connected with them in such a natural and loving way that every activity became a moment of joy and learning. The children adored her, and we all admired the calm, caring energy she shared with us. Having her with us was a very special and heartwarming experience. She left not only her help but also a lasting impression filled with love, joy, and gratitude. If anyone has the chance to welcome her, don’t hesitate — she is 100% recommended and will surely make a difference wherever she goes.

Michael and Rachel, Where do I even begin?! This was my very first Workaway experience and this family and property has set the bar high! I want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU!! From the moment I met them I knew I was being guided into a great experience. Beginning with the drive up to their property—I could already feel my nervous system relaxing. Their home is beautiful, accommodations left me feeling spoiled and I appreciated the delicious and healthy food. Eli, their lovely dog and Brio their rescue bunny were welcome cute companions. I was so happy to have my hands in the dirt most of the time. I got to work on amending, planning and designing their beautiful Hugelkultur garden. I really appreciate the trust Rachel and Michael put in me to help plan and execute their garden. Michael is so knowledgeable, but was open to my ideas and vision which the creative in me appreciated. I also enjoyed my time cooking and meal prepping for them as I love cooking. I really appreciated the variety of tasks that kept the experience interesting and gave me opportunities to learn new skills. Rachel is a fantastic cook and I still dream of her salad dressings and veggie burgers, which I have yet to try recreating! Michael is a great teacher, patient and held me capable to most anything thrown my way. I appreciated the freedom to work on my own most days, enjoying the elements while listening to a podcast or the sound of the wildlife. The sound of ravens swooping by or frogs at night and on my drives home was a fond memory. This opportunity really helped build my confidence in myself, my abilities and reiterated my deep reverence for and connection to the earth and plants. Mocking up the garden on iPad was a fun experience! I got to be part of weeding, tilling, starting and caring for seedlings, shopping for seeds, some landscaping (leveling out sloped ground), learning about irrigation, creating their first asparagus patch, and experimenting with companion planting and bringing some beneficial flowers into the garden beds. It was so fun to learn new gardening methods and get to apply some of the knowledge I was learning about plants and flowers in my Community Herbalist program. My schedule was indeed chockfull between school, the commute to Victoria and my hours, but it was a beautiful and meaningful experience and I’m so glad I still had time to also connect over games, meals, walks and a bonfire. I appreciated their down to earth nature, open communication and humour. I capped off my stay with a lovely crab dinner and a peaceful evening painting rocks and a sign for the new asparagus patch—pinching myself that this is the life I got to live for 7 weeks! On my very last afternoon, I enjoyed a meditative solo hike and river cold plunge, as well as some nettle harvesting from the abundant trails right on their doorstep! A bittersweet ending. Such great energy in this home and in Duncan. Do yourself a favour and discover it for yourself. I only wish I had more time for rockhounding, local explorations with them and to work on silversmithing projects with Michael (he is a talented silversmith and helped me craft my own copper bracelet). I hope to come back for a visit soon 🙏thanks for taking a chance on me and leaving such a lasting Workaway impression.

Albert and Maria were an absolute delight to have in our home, we now consider them family and did not want them to leave. They stayed 3 weeks and integrated well with us. They were a huge help around our property and in the kitchen. They weeded, dug out agapanthus and lillies. Moved a lot of mulch, helped spring clean and cooked some delicious meals. All our animals loved them particularly the dog and cat!! Thank you for the photos you took. We look forward to seeing them again soon and highly recommend them. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am 20 years old female, staying here for 10days in September. That was my first time trying workaway, but I believe it would be the best forever. Even thought that was quite a short time, I enjoyed talking with Pollie and living a local life in the beautiful city of cronolla!! there's one Latin American also doing the workaway, he also kindly helped me get a ride to the station. The overall connection of workawayers and hosts is really close, which made me feel relaxed. Because of my work back in my country, I needed to do a zoom meeting every night. Neri allowed me to use the space though it might have been a bit noisy. WiFi was good too. I won’t forget Neri's kindness and care for animals, people, and nature. Such a beautiful experience. Appreciate everything!

It was great to stay here! Everyone is super friendly, the place is right next to the lagoon and you get great food provided and even cooked for you once a day. The accommodation is a shared room with 3 beds and a bathroom. The job was reception tasks or helping with service in the restaurant and at times easy maintenance jobs. Overall I really loved staying here and can just highly recommend it!

We had an amazing time staying with Carmen and David. They’re relaxed, open-minded people who made us feel at home right away. We spent late summer evenings eating together in the garden and trading stories. They gave us great local tips, from the best ice cream and breweries to scenic drives and neighborhoods worth exploring. We also really appreciated the bits of indigenous linguistics, history and culture they shared with us along the way. The work was hands-on and enjoyable: we stained two decks, pulled weeds, and helped clear out the back garden from invasive plants. It was satisfying to see the progress, and we always felt our help was genuinely appreciated. Roke🐱, Ishk🐱, and Mino🐶 added to the relaxed atmosphere. This was one of the best Workaway stays we’ve had. If you get the chance to stay with Carmen and David, take it!
