Mike stayed with us for three weeks and left a very good impression. He's always a friendly, positive, and open young man. He's also punctual and serious at work. Mike helped us in various areas. He shoveled snow and also helped us with our customer service. He handled all the tasks perfectly.

I really loved this place and my stay with you in Mocoa. There was something special about falling asleep in my room while it was raining outside — I felt calm, safe, and truly at peace. Thank you so much for taking me on the trip to Fin del Mundo, it was an amazing experience and something I will remember for a long time. Thanks to you JJ and this place, I was finally able to slow down, rest properly, and reconnect with nature. I’m very grateful for everything 🙏🌿

I just want to take a moment to say a huge thank you for everything you’ve done as my first volunteer. From the very beginning, you showed commitment, openness, and such a positive attitude. You jumped in with willingness, took responsibility, and brought great energy into the place. It made a real difference, not just in the practical help, but in the overall feeling of trust and teamwork. Being the first volunteer is something special. You helped shape the experience, set the tone, and made the whole process feel lighter and more possible. I truly appreciate your reliability, your kindness, and the care you put into what you did. Thank you for being part of this journey at its very start. I’m really grateful for your help and for the way you showed up. With appreciation, until we meet again Shelly

We spent 5 incredible days ! The place is magic in winter and we did a lot of fun things (ice skating on the frozen lake, help to build an ice house and ice bathing in the lake !). We also ate the best pizzas ever :). I wish we could have spend more time there. Niklas and his son are really kind and nice.

My experience with Carol and Bud was the first ever as a workawayer but I think I'll never forget it cause I stayed with them for two months and they treated me like their son. My addiction to the US took me there for the ninth time since 2011, and this time I wanted to remain as much as I could with my visa and no other permits so finally I found a family that was willing to keep me with them. This program was the best solution and my language improvement was the main excuse to enjoy my favorite state ever and to live like a local. From the very first moment I was embraced with kindness and they took care about me and my needs. Their room became my room away from home, and I felt like I belonged to that place from ever. I've started with some little works in the backyard, while I enjoyed the sun and the amazing and dry weather of September in southern Utah. I really loved to do that listening to the music and breathing the peace of their house. I was always wrapped by the sweetness of their pets that sometimes wanted to play with me on the grass. After helping them in the house I loved to spend my time cooking some Italian food for lunch or dinner. One time I prepared fresh pesto with the basil from the garden, and another time I prepared some ladyfingers from scratch and finally I made a delicious italian Tiramisù for them and their friends, that I met every two weeks on a house meeting. Walking in the quiet neighborhood was really nice, especially while listening to the music and taking Molly for a walk. Molly is so cute and sweet, she's is absolutely loveable and she couldn't wait me to bring her outside if Bud wasn't at home. If you love walking you will be happy to have a big Walmart and many stores just twenty minutes walking from the house (if you won't have your own car), and last but not least...the famous In'n'out where to taste one of the most iconic american burgers. As the time passed by I started with some painting in the house in order to renovate something they can't do, and I made some hard work in the backyard, like cutting the concrete to put a new wireline for the green house. I was really proud to do that for Carol, who was waiting for the wireline since three years. Now I'm imagining her working in the backyard thanks to this, maybe during the evening after she finishes her work. Carol is a loyal woman with a great personality and an endless strength, and no often you will see her lay down during the day. Many times Carol prepared some good dishes for our dinner together, I really appreciated an american woman spending time and cooking food from scratch like we usually do in Italy. It's a thing you don't have to take for granted in the US. Regarding Bud, he is a really quiet and smiling man, always kind with me and he was willing to help me if I needed something. One time he brought me to the amazing Sand Hollow State Park with his car and in the evening he came again on purpose to take me home. After one month from my arrival I rented a big Gladiator to spend just some days overlanding, and they took care of me, texting me to be sure I was safe on the road. I met some special friends of them during my stay, and I really loved to stay together and cook for them. I also loved to follow them to the church every Sunday morning, and there I met some other kind people. It was a great moment that left one sign into me, in addition to improve my language and my knowledge of that area as always I would have wanted to do. I was really wondered about leaving or not but I'm happy to followed my dreams and to listened myself, cause now I can say that it was a great great addition to my life experiences. The only sad moment was to partecipate to Paco's death. Paco was the other little friend in the house and we don't know why but one day he suddenly felt sick. Within just two days he passed away and I listened Carol crying sit with him on her legs. I also saw Bud crying close to her when he came back home a few minutes later. It was an intense moment, something that helped to create a most deeply connection with them and their house, that I didn't even know the existence before discovering workaway website. I always loved Utah but after this staying I can assure I have a new relationship with it and I'm looking forward to coming back...maybe to visit Carol and Bud again, that will hug me for sure.

Marta is a very mature and caring individual. Conscientious and highly self-motivated, she took initiative, showed strong leadership when needed, and carried her responsibilities with care and reliability. She worked extremely well as part of our team and was a real asset. I would happily host her again and recommend her without hesitation. We also miss her :(

Amazing! I stayed here for 6 weeks and it was a great experience. If you love the ocean and want to meet and hangout with some cool people, this is a great place. You live amongst the locals too, so that is a bonus! I also got a chance to do my my diving certs while I was there which was one of the highlights of my trip so far.

We spent 10 days with Ari and his family and it was such an awesome experience. There was another volunteer staying with them at the same time, which was lovely:) My travel partner and I had a room and Hannah was staying in another room. There is a fan and the room is simple and clean. The bathroom is outside, we needed to get used to it a bit, but adjusted quickly. The mom, Ibu, cooked for us three times a day delicious local food. Ari, his sister and dad speak very good English and Ibu's warmth and caring nature spoke for themselves <3 We did a trip to big waterfalls and a Gilli island on the east side of Lombok. Ari made sure we had great time and showed us a lot of the local nature and culture, which we enjoyed a lot. The teaching consisted of going to either Aris school (40 min by scooter with Ari) or his dad's (20 min by scooter, often drove ourselves) and then being told quite spontaneously what the subject of the next class would be and how we could help. The type of teaching differed depending on the needs of the teachers - sometimes leading a class, but mostly just being there as support and "living libraries". We did feel like we bonded and talked most with the kids on the first days of school where they were able to just come up to us and chat with us, since there wasn't a fixed schedule yet. Learning a bit of Indonesian helped us gaining some of their interest. We also did a lot of other cool things after school, like making our own coffee with Ibu or doing a little girls trip with Fiana, his sister. The family was extremely welcoming and open and we were able to learn so much about Muslim and Lombok culture and the everyday life of this amazing family. This was our first workaway experience and we can definitely recommend staying with Ari! Terima Kasih!

Marilou and Louise stayed with us for 10 days, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the very first day, they were incredibly helpful, caring, and easy to have around. They supported us so much with our daughter, helped around the house, and were always happy to cook and share meals together. They are both joyful, kind, and thoughtful people, and we truly enjoyed not only their help but also the deep and meaningful conversations we shared. They played beautifully with our daughter, showing so much creativity, patience, and love. Having Marilou and Louise in our home felt natural, and we are deeply grateful for the time we spent together. 💛

I stayed at Zhanna's farm for about 3 weeks (August-September 2025) and it was a beautiful experience. A few basic points first: - I slept in a tent, which was comfortable and not too cold (it would be too cold in winter I imagine). Other volunteers also slept in the unused guest accommodation when available. - There is good wifi available in the kitchen. - The food is brilliant. I am a rubbish cook, but helped where I could. Zhanna is a wonderful cook, as were the other volunteers I worked with, Assel in particular. - The work is varied, sometimes more intensive, sometimes interesting, sometimes more mundane. There is always plenty to be doing. - There are not set days off, but if you ask to have days off/want to go and explore around the farm/take a trip around Kazakhstan and return it should be okay. I had a wonderful and enriching stay at the eco-farm. Zhanna and her son Denis are complex and interesting people, and are great company once you get to know them a bit. I concur with other reviews insofar as the cultural exchange element is not so accessible at first, but it is there, it just takes time to settle in and to get to know everybody. I had great conversations with Zhanna about Turkic cultural tradition, the running of the farm/guesthouse and so many other interesting topics. It should be noticed that this is a place for guests to come and stay, and this work and organisation is primary over cultural conversations. Zhanna is a busy person and this must be respected, and I can see how some people have taken this as miscommunication. I suggest staying longer than a week to be able to get that cultural exchange aspect. In the end, I felt very at home around the farm around Denis and Zhanna and the other volunteers. This sense of the unfamiliar becoming familiar and homely is such a special thing. Denis is a great guy and has a passion for music and is talented at digital media, I really enjoyed being involved in making instagram reels with him about the work on the farm, and chatting about and playing music. I was there during a busy season, and enjoyed chatting to guests too, who are from all over the place. Additionally, we often had guests from next door farms (workers and other volunteers) and I got to know those guys pretty well too. A good impromptu working family was formed. The food is freshly made and varied, and you are encouraged to cook any signature dishes you have up your sleeve (if you can cook, unlike me). The location is stunning, and the best jobs are those where you are out in the open, taking in the surroundings. I particularly enjoyed working on constructing the new house, where I could have a full day in the sun. Zhanna has some lovely and playful cats and dogs, and there are horses and cows around the site and in the apple orchard. As mentioned, there are less interesting jobs. It is important to do what needs to be done, but you can express wanting to do other preferred jobs that are available. The days can sometimes be long and there are early starts, but it is not too bad. You will not be told when to stop working, so judge it for yourself and stay in communication with Zhanna and Denis. It's a great place to relax too during time off. The surrounding mountains are breathtaking and rarely was there a sunset which wasn't beautiful, and there is nice seating and hammocks around the site. Various events were put on for the guests, which volunteers can enjoy too, such as evenings around the fire, music performances, barbecues and parties. You may also get the chance to relax in the sauna area! There is also an opportunity to do horse-riding on the next door farm. Additionally, Denis drove us to a nice river nearby to the farm to relax. There are no set times off, but do ask! I was able to have days off here and there and spent a week exploring Almaty and the surrounding sites. This was no problem. In sum I highly recommend spending some time at this place, but would advise spending a longer rather than shorter time here (longer than a week) to wholly appreciate the places' merits. I extended my stay. Use initiative and communication to manage work/time off balance. Thank you so much to Zhanna, Denis, Rinat, Assel and all the other volunteers and countless guests. This was my first Workaway experience and it was excellent. I came away with new skills learnt, friends made and so many amazing memories. I look forward to returning one day.

it was so nice to stay at the House of Andrea! It was one of my best experience there. The work wasn't hard. I helped Andrea with some things in the house and walk out the dogs. In my free time I could chill, go to the city or have good conversations with Andrea or the other volunteers. It's more like living in a family and it doesn't feel like hard work. I would always recommend volunteering with Andrea!☺️

Martin visited us in a moment when I really needed the help of a strong guy. We moved some heavy furniture around and the cold weather did not stop us. We also enjoyed when Martin did some fine cooking for everyone.. I fully recommend him as a volunteer!

Katrina/Triney was a joy to have here and we feel very lucky to have met her. She tuned in right away to what was needed and what help was appreciated, used her initiative and applied herself diligently and thoroughly to every task. Outside her official hours, she was just so kind, generous and helpful, and she really got the whole Workaway experience, about how it's an exchange and not just a rigid transaction. She restored my faith in the Workaway model, after plenty of 'iffy' experiences last year. It was a pleasure to bring her to music sessions and hikes. We all enjoyed learning from the late wonderful Manchán Magan and explored some ancient/ sacred sites together. Katrina fitted in with us and the animals instantly. She's just so 'with it' in every way, intelligent, a wonderful conversationalist and that lovely combination of being serious and also having an excellent sense of humour. We'd great fun with her and learned lots from her. We are so happy we met Katrina and she'd be welcome back any time! I thoroughly recommend her to everyone!

Experience was great. Stayed for around 3 weeks during the winter holidays. Such a blast. Workaway is very fair -working 3 hours, then skiing either by yourself, or with mates, depending on the schedule. It's not a penthouse of course, but it's sufficient and comfortable nevertheless. Maybe one of the best workaway experiences I've had. If you want to ski or snowboard on a consistent basis, come here (but be careful and take it slow). Good people, good energy, good resort. Would recommend. Thanks Tal! See you in a future season maybe :) Mike
