Hello everyone,
We are a family of six — me Letícia, my husband Ivan, our 2 year old daugther, and our three cats.
Leticia is Portuguese who came to Zagreb in 2017 to study and in 2021 she moved to Croatia. Ivan is Croatian from Zagreb.
We live in a lovely and modest house surrounded by nature, in a peaceful and beautiful location of Jastrebarsko.
In spring/summer we start to grow our vegetable garden and create a more self-sufficient lifestyle.
During winter times we mainly need help with our daugther (creative play and teaching English) as well as occasional help around the house (cleaning and cooking).
We are both very relaxed, easygoing people and tend to go with the flow most days. We value a calm, positive atmosphere and would love to welcome someone with a similar vibe — open-minded, kind, and happy to be part of family life. -

We are an artistic family who loves an easygoing, creative, and more sustainable way of living. I work with crochet, lead crochet workshops, and teach yoga, while my husband is a foreign politics journalist and also a musician.
We are slowly (very slowly 😊) developing our permaculture garden and enjoying the process of learning as we go.
We love cultural exchange and are always happy to share a few words of Portuguese, Spanish, and Croatian with our volunteers. -

Arbeit
During spring and summer, we need the most help in the garden: seeding, planting, transplanting, and weeding, as well as caring for the soil and our fruit trees. Most of the help during this time is outdoors and physically demanding.
During winter and on colder days, we need more help inside the house, mainly with cooking and cleaning. We also need support with our daughter through creative play, teaching her English, and keeping her entertained without screen time.
On a regular basis, we may also need help with cooking for everyone and with the daily cleaning of the space. -

Unterkunft
We live in a beautiful, traditional house in the countryside. It’s neither big nor small, and while it is comfortable, there are still some ongoing upgrades and small construction projects. Our lifestyle is quite simple and rural — for example, our kitchen is small and we don’t have a dishwasher.
Volunteers stay in a large room on the ground floor, which also serves as our music and creative space. It’s a welcoming, cozy area where you’ll have your own place to sleep and relax. -

We are very close to beautiful hiking trails in the Japetić mountain, as well as lovely walks through the valley. This location is perfect for nature lovers — it’s a quiet village with not much to do besides hiking and enjoying the outdoors, which is exactly what we love about living here.
From time to time, our neighbour offers wild herb foraging workshops, and we’re happy to check the schedule if this is something you’d be interested in.
From our village, you can catch a train to Zagreb in just 35 minutes, giving you easy access to everything a big city has to offer — culture, events, cafés, and more — while still enjoying peaceful rural life at home. -
