I won’t lose many words. Anyone who has the chance to get to know Koos and Peter should not miss it. The two of them are truly unique and contributed immensely to the success of our project. Their positive attitude towards everything—really everything—their zest for life, their willingness to work, and their energy made a huge difference. We miss you both already.

Mieke was an amazing Workawayer and a wonderful person to host. She was always friendly, cheerful, and ready to help with whatever was needed. Her positive energy made a real difference, and she contributed greatly both through her work and her presence. During her stay, we had the opportunity to visit Chicama and surf the famous longest left-hand wave in the world. I was very proud of how well Mieke surfed and how confidently she embraced the experience. Her passion for surfing and willingness to challenge herself were inspiring to see. What stood out most was how naturally she connected with people. She became a beloved member of our surf community, and both locals and visitors enjoyed having her around. She was respectful, sociable, and always brought a smile to people’s faces. I would happily host Mieke again and strongly recommend her to any future host looking for someone reliable, kind, and full of positive energy.

Michael was an absolute pleasure to host. From day one, he was friendly, positive, and always willing to help with any task that needed to be done. He approached every job with a great attitude and was reliable, hardworking, and easy to communicate with. One of the highlights of his stay was our trip to Chicama, where he got to surf the world’s longest left-hand wave. I was genuinely impressed by his surfing and how much enthusiasm he brought to every session in the water. Beyond the work and surfing, Michael became a valued part of our community. He got along with everyone, showed respect to the local culture, and quickly became popular with our surf community. Many people here spoke highly of him, and it was clear that he left a positive impression wherever he went. I highly recommend Michael to any future host. He is kind, trustworthy, hardworking, and a great person to have around.

Manu was a fantastic Workawayer and a great addition to our team. He was always willing to lend a hand, worked hard, and brought a positive and friendly attitude to everything he did. He was easy to work with and quickly became part of the family here. One of my favorite memories from his stay was our surf trip to Chicama. Watching Manu surf the world’s longest left-hand wave was a real pleasure, and I was proud of how well he performed in the water. His passion for surfing and commitment to improving were evident throughout his stay. Manu also integrated incredibly well into our local community. Our surf community absolutely loved him, and he built great relationships with everyone he met. His respectful attitude, friendliness, and genuine interest in connecting with people made him very popular among both locals and fellow travelers. I can wholeheartedly recommend Manu to any host. He is hardworking, trustworthy, friendly, and an all-around great person to have around.

We couldn't have had a better guy to help with a big job!! No messing with Eric! He gets stuck in and gets on with whatever the task. Plus we had a good laugh too...

Reza is a fine gentleman from Iran. With his excellent manners, open mind and hands on approach Reza is a great pleasure to have around. Immediately after his arrival on a Sunday afternoon he jumped into the cold water of helping us to prepare a Vernissage for the next day, where he was running the attentive and kind service without any need for further briefing. Reza sees work, fixes things, loves cooking and is great with people. We are very happy, that he will soon be back.

Well what can I say! I had the most amazing time with Bea and Ralph. They are exceptional people who are so hospitable and kind. The work was extremely reasonable and rewarding. I worked with the horses and rode almost everyday. We went wine tasting and to barrel races! The work included light gardening, barn chores, walking the dogs and some other bits. I enjoyed every single minute. It was the most amazing month of my life and I highly recommend staying with Bea and Ralph! I hope to see you guys soon!

Aaron spent a month with us and was a great help ! We enjoyed a lot getting to know him better each week more and discover a lovely young guy, full of ressources with a big heart !

Evalyn was an excellent help. Very polite, entertaining, easy to be around, good with the dogs and the horses, as well as willing to come on an adventure. Unfortunately, she had a leave a bit earlier than planned - we will miss her.

We had an awesome stay with Tim and Cathrine at their farm for two weeks in May. Their farm is located in a very peaceful area surrounded by beautiful nature. The property is really nice and living in the modern guesthouse was very comfortable. We had breakfast together in the main house and then worked until lunch so that we had free time in the afternoon. We had a lot of fun cooking some delicious vegan dishes together with Tim and had very interesting dinner conversations. The work day started with feeding the sheep and chickens. Especially the sheep were very cute and some of them also really enjoyed being cuddled:) Our other tasks were very diverse e.g. spreading sand on the agility field, cutting hedges, cleaning the chicken coop, evening out the sheep stable floor, turning the compost, weeding around the house etc. We got to explore the surroundings by bike or train and spent the evenings with the sheep or watching the sunset. We also met another Workawayer who was really kind and nice to talk too and it was always interesting exchanging experiences and stories with Tim and Cathrine. I just spent a very special week at Ciumara and would recommend the experience to anyone looking for some time to relax in nature and some lovely company. I spent most of my time with Elmir and Roby, the two current residents, who were bright and kind people with lots of great stories to share around meals. They were warm and inviting from the very beginning, and made me feel very at home. The pace of life was relaxed, and I mostly did work in the mornings and evenings, avoiding the hottest parts of the days. They were flexible and accommodating, and rather than having strict expectations, tried to foster an environment where helping out with the tasks needed for communal living was inspiring. I mainly helped in the garden, building bamboo structures for the tomatoes and helping Elmir make an irrigation system for the fruit trees. One night, all of their friends came over for dinner, and they were remarkably warm, funny, and open-minded. Ciumara is a real hidden gem, tucked away in the valley. I loved sharing lunches and dinners, as we ate lots of delicious and nutritious food that they produced using their own trees and gardens. Thank you Roby and Elmir for everything, and I'd highly recommend anyone to visit Ciumara! Grazie mille.

Richard is a skilled, organized and trustworthy person. He took on some carpentry projects like building or repairing furnitures, also made great improvements to our kitchen and main hall. He did an awesome job in fruit trees pruning. He never counted his hours of work and went beyond what was asked. He is a sociable and reliable person. Along with another volunteer, they both took care of the Sanctuary while we were traveling and we came back to a clean, organized and improved space. From digging to moving stones and more, he is not afraid of hard work in the heat and he's used to it. We observed a good synergy with other volunteers as well as great participation to any community events. We're super happy to have him back at the sanctuary a bit later in the season.

Finca Parilla offers a truly magical and memorable getaway! The finca itself is incredibly beautiful, and the accommodation was very cozy and comfortable. Ane Marie and I clearly agreed on all the terms in advance, which made everything so smooth. Every day, we clearly discussed the amount of work, and she always took my skills and preferences into account when assigning tasks. Also, there's a convenient bus that runs on a strict schedule, taking guests to the sea and to a beautiful tourist village in the mountains. Thank you, Ane Marie, for the fantastic time that we passed together. The whole experience was incredibly positive and welcoming!

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Cristian with us for three months, and we couldn’t have asked for a better volunteer. Cristian showed incredible maturity, responsibility, and work ethic every single day. Cristian was always reliable, quick to learn, and brought such positive energy to the hostel. Guests loved him, and he handled every task with care and a smile. He truly became part of our team and our little hostel family during his three months here. We are so grateful for all his help and we will miss him a lot. Any hostel would be lucky to have Cristian. Our door is always open for him to come back anytime. Highly, highly recommended! I recently spent an incredible two weeks with Marta, Michal, and their lovely children on their property in Greece. I don't have enough good things to say about my time there! Their property is one of the most peaceful places I've ever been, with an orchard and veggie plots and hammocks. Their family is warm and open-minded, and invited me so graciously into their home. Their home is full of laughter, piano, singing, delicious healthy meals and homemade herbal teas. Mia, Elio, and Saša are truly delightful and inspiring children: they are free-spirited and full of light and spend their days running around barefoot, picking edible flowers, racing paper boats in the river, reading voraciously, and singing around the piano. Two weeks in their company was good for the heart and soul, to say the least. Other than Mia, who speaks a bit of English, the other two don't speak any, so I dusted off some rusty Italian and communicated between that and lots of hand gestures and smiles. Marta and Michal speak wonderful English and I was grateful for their warm company and interesting conversations over meals. In terms of work, I was mostly helping out in the garden, building new garden beds and planting lots of tomatoes! This was hard work but lots of fun, especially when the kids came to lend a hand! Otherwise, I helped Mia with her English, prepared some meals, and went on some funny adventures to pick up stones from the river or wine waste for mulching from the local winery. Anytime we left Seliana, we came back with a trunk full of something, and with a great adventure along the way. Marta and Michal are passionate and inspired parents, and it was a joy to help them with their project of creating a beautiful haven for their family! I was delighted to discover a whole community around Seliana of people working on varied permaculture projects. I met some remarkable people and enjoyed hikes, dinners, and a birthday party. I'd recommend this experience to anyone! Thank you :D

For you it was the first time to try this workaway experience to lend a hand, as you want to become a host as well. I think it is worthwhile to feel the other person's role and feelings. You also took the chance to travel a lot to see a lot from Germany, mainly around the very middle of Germany. The next workawayer after you tried, what you took up here: the Parkrun. Amazing, your influence! As a workaway host, I want to offer you to keep in touch. You started to learn about finding good people to contribute to a good way of living together, and how to organize that. Maybe, we can share experiences in organizing or whatever will come up...
