Hobby farm experience with a bilingual family in Vejen, Denmark

  We are a multicultural family of three, consisting of myself, my partner and our 15 year old son. As well as our sheep, chickens and several dogs(6). In the household we speak English, Dutch and Danish.
  
  We live in Denmark (between Billund and Vejen) on an almost 200 year old farm property. Located in beautiful nature where seeing wildlife is a daily occurrence. Our property is quite remote - don’t expect any shops or cafes just around the corner. But expect nature and peace.
  
  On our property we have a guest house with its own bathroom, kitchenette and with three bedrooms, there is electricity, running warm and cold water, as well as Wifi in the guesthouse. There is the possibility to stay in the guesthouse. But there is also the option to camp in a tent if that is preferred. There is also the space if you have your own van to stay in that - we can provide electricity.
  
  Accommodation and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), coffee and thee will be provided, against a couple of hours (approx 5 hours a day). We are very flexible on when and how you want to plan your working hours in (however we do try and plan it in during the morning and middag, so that you have free time after lunch).
  
  Don’t expect any fancy cuisine, but we will try and cook to most dietary needs/choices.
  
  Internet is available free of charge, as well as the possibility to use our laundry room if staying here for more than a week. You will have two days off each week.
  
  All other costs you have to cover yourself.
  
  We can pick up and drop off at the airport (Billund) or train station (Lunderskov) when arriving and departing. We only offer pickup/drop off between 7:00am-18:00pm
  
  There is public transport going into one of the bigger towns three times a day on work days. But there is also the possibility of borrowing a bike to be able to get to places. But as mentioned earlier, we do live quite remotely, so you have to be happy with not having cafes and shops just around the corner.
  
  Duration: everything from a longer periode or even just a week. (We prefer minimum a week, as it takes a couple days to get used to tasks on the farm)
  Accommodation: guesthouse with three rooms and own bathroom or staying in a tent (provided) and there is also space if you have your own van you want to stay in.
  Who: any individuals, couples, friends or families, children are also welcome with their parents (however we are a working farm, so it is not designed for young children).
  Rooms will mostly be private for you and your ‘group’. But occasionally we will ask you to share a room with another (same sex) Workawayer.
  
  You have to be comfortable with not having other people around the whole time. As we will not always be around the whole day. The farm is not our full-time job, so we will also have to be doing other work than on the farm. Therefore we really ask you to consider if you are ok doing tasks alone/with other workawayers and not having us around the whole time.
  
  We like to be social with guests/workaways, but also sometimes like to be private. We will always be available, but will not be there to guide you the whole time/day.
  
  We are a private property, so we cannot offer visas for people from outside the EU. * we kindly request you not to react unless you have a visa/or are an EU citizen* we can also not help with ‘letters’ for you to obtain a visa.

  We hope to be able to welcome an exchange where all parties get something out of it.
  
  Our family is an open minded family welcoming people from all different cultures and beliefs, we are also LGBTQIA+ friendly and never judge people for being true to themselves.
  Our family have all travelled and lived around the world, experiencing lots of different cultures and we love to welcome new people to our place to show them our Danish way of living.
  You will be able to experience what it takes to run and maintain a hobby farm. And can get experience in many different tasks associated with this.
  
  We try to share all three meals a day together, but some meals you will have to help yourself in our kitchen.
  
  There is coffee and tea making facilities in the guesthouse/kitchenette which is to your disposal the whole day.
  
  We hope to be able to provide an environment where you can both gain experience in different tasks, cultural exchange and also enjoy yourself. But we also hope that you want to get to know us and engage in conversation during our meals, we at least love to hear about you and your life experiences.

  Arbeit

  There are always 100 projects to be done here on the farm. Anything from cleaning, gardening, firewood, general maintenance, farm help, basic construction help, to helping taking care of the animals, caring for the dogs, dog walking, working in the veggie garden etc. We will discuss with the individual volunteers what tasks they prefer and what kind of tasks need to be done depending on the season of the year.
  
  If interested in lambing season, then it is around end March/April every year.
  
  We except 5 hours of help, 5 days a week.

  Unterkunft

  There are different possibilities for accommodation depending on the preferences:
  - room in our guest house (sometimes private, sometimes shared)
  - in a tent provided by us (or if you have your own tent).
  - in your own van/camper
  
  We provide three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). As well as unlimited thee and coffee.
  
  What else:
  No smoking in the house or barns, no extra guests that we were not made aware of, no drugs or excessive drinking. And we expect you to keep your room and shared areas clean and tidy.

  We live in a small town with only about 200 people living there, so it is quite rual. There are no shops of cafes just around the corner.
  
  On weekdays there is public transport into the bigger town around three times a day.
  
  We can provide a bike to make it easier to get around.
  On your arrival and departure day, we are also willing to bring/pick up from the nearest train station (Lunderskov) or airport (Billund).
  
  Please don’t react if you are just expecting a free holiday.
  
  We hope to welcome people don’t need constant supervision to do tasks. And that also show their own initiative, people that can see tasks that are needed and then also are happy to do them (example- see hay on the floor, so pick up a broom and clean it)
