Hello! My name is Chhime Sherpa. I'm based in Khamje, a quaint village in the Solukhumbu region of Nepal. Having lived in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands, and Switzerland in the past decade, I have decided to move into the homestead my grandmother used to live in before her recent passing. Our small farm is home to three cows, one bull, two dogs, two chickens, and one cat—though we might add more animals in the future! My grandmother loved having guests and exchanging stories and laughter. My hope is that everything she worked so hard to create continues to thrive.
Update: I am currently in Kathmandu due to my incessant need to mentally be in two places at all times... My father is now living in the house, supporting farming and proprietorship. My Mother, my Father and I will be taking turns to stay in Khamje and ensure that Daphuti House's doors are kept open. :) To see more of life in Khamje, check out our instagram. Please reach out to us about workaway requests through workaway only :DArten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
We love to create a warm and inclusive space where guests feel at home, whether we're sharing traditional sherpa meals around the table, mingling at local events, or just spending evenings by the fire. Meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds brings us new ideas and perspectives. We can’t wait to hear about your experiences, traditions, and hope that we can learn from each other.
Arbeit
There's always something to keep busy with around here. We make butter (using a traditional plunger churn) and have started preparing essential oils with different herbal plants. At the moment, we are busy selling apples from our apple orchard that we finished harvest in mid-September. We are also building a stone path around the land, hoping to have a nice pathway that joins the house, the orchard, and the river someday. Activities to do here also really depend on the time and season. Soon, we will also need to begin cutting and drying grass so we can store it for the winter months for the cows. In late November and December, we will be planting potatoes for next year.
If you’d like to contribute in other ways—such as painting, fixing up the greenhouses, gardening, or carpentry work—we’d love to hear from you as well.Sprachen

During your stay, you'll have your own room with views of the surrounding mountains. We'll ensure you're comfortable with an extra set of bedding and a towel. As for meals, you're invited to join us at the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but you're also welcome to use the kitchen as you like. Most of our meals are vegetarian, and prepared on a firewood stove.
