Although I only spent two weeks at Helma‘s and Gérard‘s place, it felt like leaving dear friends behind when Helma dropped me off at the trainstation. Thank you so much for making me feel like part of your life, it felt so normal to live with you after such a short period of time! And I would have loved to stay longer.
During my stay I had plenty
… read more of free time and I spent most of the time reading on the couch in the company of the loveliest cat Mimi, who is always down for cuddles. In the beginning of February it was really cold and rainy, so I preferred to stay near the wood-ovens, but theoretically the landscape and the nature around the little farm is so beautiful for walks or bike rides (I was allowed to use the really nice mountain bike, which I rode one time to the next bigger city).
Considering the working part, it were mostly easy and tasks that consumed a very little amount of time. And I enjoyed doing them, so I dindn‘t even consider them as „working“. In the morning and evening, I had to clean the stable and feed the animals. Sometimes there were extra tasks, for example Gérard taught me how to use a chainsaw. So I learnd a lot of useful crafty things.
I was a bit worried to do a workaway because of my vegan lifestyle, but that was no problem at all, since the two of them eat very little to no animal products. They made me feel super comfortable and it was so nice, that Helma prepared delicious vegan meals for all of us. I also loved to help her cook!
All in all I can totally recommend a workaway stay by Helma and Gérard and all the lovely animals in the beautiful region of Bretagne! They are such open-minded and interesting people and I‘m so glad to got to meet them. I miss you all already!🌼💐🩵

I spent a few weeks with Helma and Gérard over the New Year and then returned again in Spring, I loved it so much!

There's plenty of time to do your own thing in between working, I was actually studying when I was there and it was great place to get creative and productive in my personal life alongside the work.
The place is in the middle of the beautiful countryside so there's lots of exploring to be done, hiking, cycling and on the back of Gérard's motorbike.
I'd definitely return again, I miss them all so much!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

It was such a good experience to have Alice here. She came in December and in April and helped us with everything.
The horses, the dogs, the chickens, cleaning and cooking. We had also very interesting conversations with Alice, it feels like she is a member of our family now !
She can come back whenever she wants to !!
Thanks for your help, dear

We spent a good time with Charlotte. She was of a great help, we had good discussions and she did some good cooking. But most of all the animals loved her so much ! We really enjoyed being with her ! She can come back whenever she likes to.

I spent a month with Helma and Gérard in April and had a great time. The two of them took really good care of me and were willing to show me around, help me with practicing my french, take me to places and let me be part of their daily life. They trusted me with the animals and taught me whatever was new for me.

The work was never to much. The main tasks were related to the animals, cleaning the horse's and chicken's stable in the morning, feeding them all and preparing the hay. That didn't take too long and will be different in winter and summer. In the afternoon there were a few things to do in the house or garden but most of the time I was free to decide when to do it.
Their place is probably the most idyllic I've ever been to. You have great possibilities for bike rides running or hiking. Nevertheless, I recommend to have your own car with you if you want to see much of the (really nice) region they live in.
I had a really good first workaway experience here and hope to come back!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Lucie)
It was a good experience to have Lucie here. She did a lot of work concerning the horses, the dogs and the chickens.
She even cooked sometimes. We also had a lot of interesting conversations. We showed her a lot of Brittany by motorbike and
Lucie loved it. She will always be welcome here !
Vom Host für Workawayer (Marjorie)
Marjorie did such a good job here ! My husband and I left for a funeral in the Netherlands. There was a young man helping her with the horses and the dogs. It was the first time that both of us were not at home. But we fully trusted Marjorie and the young man. Thanks again to her !! She can come back whenever she wants to.
