Beschreibung
Hi everyone!
We are a friendly, outgoing couple with two teenage sons, living a life we've built from the ground up here in the Rocky Mountain countryside. Our days begin with the sounds of the forest and coffee on the deck, gazing out at the peaks before the kitchen comes alive with music and the smell of a fresh breakfast.
Our organic gardens are the heartbeat of our home; we believe in truly 'knowing' your food, whether we’re harvesting from our beds or foraging wild greens for our signature morning elixirs. We spent our 20s traveling the world via the 'workaway' lifestyle long before it had a name, and those adventures shaped who we are. Now that we’re more settled, we love inviting that same adventurous energy into our home. Hosting guests is our way of bringing global cultures to our sons and sharing the skills we've gathered over a lifetime of creative projects and mountain living. We can't wait to meet you and share this journey!

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
In our remote mountain community, resourcefulness isn’t just a skill—it’s a lifestyle. When you stay with us, you’ll gain the quiet confidence that comes from knowing how to truly thrive off the beaten path. Whether we’re navigating the unique challenges of a cold winter, or problem-solving a mechanical fix, you’ll learn what it means to be prepared and resilient in any environment.
Beyond the 'how-to' of homesteading, we offer a deep dive into the traditional arts that the modern world is losing touch with. You’ll leave here knowing what being self sufficient looks like and feels like. Most importantly, we hope you’ll gain a new perspective on what it means to live in harmony with the land. We put a high value on a positive, energetic vibe, and we love exchanging stories and skills with guests who show up with that same vibrant spirit. If you're looking for a place where you can grow, learn, and feel like part of the family, we can’t wait to meet you!

Arbeit
Country living has taught us the art of resourcefulness. Here, we don’t just live in nature; we partner with it. We’ve mastered the skills needed to thrive when the unexpected happens—whether that’s troubleshooting frozen pipes at -40°C or staying cozy and productive when the power goes out.
We’re passionate about reclaiming the 'lost arts' of the modern world. When you stay with us, you’ll dive into the rhythm of a sustainable life: outside ...harvesting firewood, carpentry projects, weeding, harvesting. Inside: cooking from scratch, grinding whole grains for sourdough, slow-simmering nourishing bone broths, and mastering the science of the harvest and preservation. Beyond the kitchen, we’re constantly deepening our knowledge of the local flora that surround us. We love sharing these traditional skills and are just as excited to learn new perspectives and solutions from you. If you’re looking to build your confidence and your toolkit of practical life skills, you’ll feel right at home here.
Rather than a formal checklist, we offer a place in our family circle where you can jump into the projects currently in motion. Whether we’re focusing on a morning of raspberry picking or just handling the general duties of the day, the pace is always manageable and collaborative. We believe in working together at a comfortable speed, sharing the satisfaction of a day well-spent in the fresh mountain air
Most important is to show up with a positive and energetic attitude as that's the vibe that we will be putting out. We are looking for guests who are excited to jump in and match that upbeat rhythm. When everyone brings a positive attitude to the table ( and the garden!), it makes being 'part of the family' a truly awesome experience for everyone.

Was noch ...
Our place is not in town or just outside of town, it's about 1 hour and 45 mins from the city along the most beautiful mountain highway. Other people live here but there are no stores, restaurants or bars. Be sure to bring all your essentials.
We are open to possible long stays based on a two week trial period.
Some activities:
While you are here you will want to take time to hike and explore the magical Ancient Cedar Forest where some of the giant trees are over 2000 years old. Some trees take 12 to 14 people to wrap your arms around, they are immense!!! A real connection with history.
Depending on the season you can take the kayaks out for a paddle on the mighty Fraser river.
Many bears, deer, moose around, bring your camera!
In the winter: borrow our snowshoes, cross country skis or come along with us on regular vintage snowmobile rides.
So much to do for the outdoor enthusiast as well as many peaceful places to sit and read, listen to music and enjoy the serenity.
Days off tend to be a balance of going on adventures together and or taking some quiet time to yourself to relax in your favourite spot you've found around the property.
We love our campfires, swimming, boating, snowmobiling, learning.... there isn't much that we don't love. We are a family who is enthusiastic about living off the land and are working our way towards a more self sufficient lifestyle everyday. We have a passion for life and all the beauty it has to offer. Our favorite part of the workaway experience is most definetly all the wonderful friendships and connections that we have made so far and we truly look forward to all the new friendships to come.
Looking forward to meeting you!
