Beschreibung
Hello and welcome! ようこそ!Lasqueti Island (also known as ‘Xweh et tay’ - yew tree) is part of the traditional territory of the Tla’amin First Nation. We are committed to living respectfully and creatively within this ecosystem. Carson, Adrian and Kaia are working on a fairly new homestead in a maple grove. Our (vague but exciting) goal is to create a whimsical habitat and thriving farmyard of food production, community and art. At this point we are grow food on a subsistence basis.

We live in the forest on an off-grid island so we can offer an immersive forest homestead experience with all its quirks. There are often community events (music, potlucks, work-parties, dance-parties, ultimate-frisbee, sauna) that you are welcome to participate in. Forest hikes and ocean swimming is accessible. We can probably lend you a bike, and hitchhiking around the island is quite easy.
Arbeit
We have have a diverse range of homestead tasks that we'd love help with. Roughly 4 hours a day would be appreciated. Examples include: building, gardening, milling wood, firewood, beach combing for logs, butchering sheep, etc. We'd love for you to be an independent helper. And we will make sure you don't get stuck on a monotonous task for hours at a time.

Accommodations are rustic but scenic. Outdoor bug-tent (with comfy mattress). Outhouse and solar shower. Electricity is somewhat limited. We will cook a big tasty lunch and dinner and will provide breakfast fixings. There is no grocery store on the island so please let us know about dietary restrictions well ahead of time. We eat well here - lots from the garden and largely vegetarian though sometimes we hunt and eat local meat.

On your free time you are welcome to explore the island and visit the neighbourwoods. Adrian is fluent in Spanish, Kaia is fluent in Japanese, and Carson is fluent in sailing. Please bring your sense of humour and adventure.
There is a foot-passenger-only ferry that leaves French Creek on Vancouver Island five days a week.
We strive to be a safe space for BIPOC and LGBTQ2S folk.
