Beschreibung
We are both educated designers, Laila is a ceramic artist and Nikolaj is working with graphic design. We are both teachers at a danish folk high School teaching sustainability and ceramics. We have 4 children on 3,9,18 and 23 years.
We are a normal family trying to live more sustainable - so we are on a journey of sustainability. The biggest project is the straw bale house we are building - but trying to improve our lives in many aspects.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

We will be working together on the house - so there is a natural learning from doing the work. Beside that we will show you the eco-society and tell you about our take on sustainable living. We love to inspire people!
Arbeit
We are building the (maybe) wildest straw bale house in an eco-society in Denmark. It is a flower shaped house with a Beech tree as a center to hold the roof.
Insulation is a combination of paper-insulation and strawbales. Inside walls is COB (clay) The walls are clayplastered and the roof will be a living roof with grass and flowers. The walls have different heights all way around, so the roof will be like a fan (or a natural landscape). A lot of professionals told us we can´t build a house like that - but we are doing it anyway :)
We are building everything ourselves. We are trying to use all the best sustainable materials, but are also willing to compromise when the situation demands it.
We started building in february 2020 and expect to finish it by 2026 :)
1-2 volunteers are needed but our circumstances are a little special at the moment. We have small children and when we don't work on the house (or our jobs) a lot of our time is going with them. So if you’re looking for a lot of social interaction with us we can´t promise that every day - but we enjoy to work together and talk about sustainability, our building process and more. We try to have two volunteers at a time, so you have each other.
We eat lunch together with you in weekdays and some evenings dinner and we try to be at the building site with you - but sometimes its not possible due to work and children care. Beside these meals you will get 5 euro per day per person to buy your own food that you can make in your tiny house kitchen.
What are we looking for?
We expect you to be good at English (or Danish) and prefer people that are 20+ years old.
You are always welcome to visit our building site and see the project!Gesprochene Sprachen

Friland is an ecosociety with 40 sustainable houses of very different kinds. So there is a lot of inspiration to find here. It is situated in the beautiful hills of Mols in Denmark - one of the most scenic areas of Denmark. Ten km from the ocean, a nice lake and forest that you can bike. And furthermore 45 min. from Aarhus - second largest (and most hyggelige) Danish city.

They help us in a lot of thing (for example, they lent us bikes to cycling around the island, made us delicious dinners and their handmade ice creams were one of the best what we've ever tasted).

I stayed for three weeks there and time really flew by. I learned a lot about eco-building and absolutely loved all the tasks I was given (floors, window isolation, cob application). The tiny house was plenty for me and I really enjoyed living there. In my free time, I got to visit a cute town and walk… read more
