  Hi! My name is Lucilla. I live with my father and a big, beloved multi-species family composed by: five dogs (Liú, Sofia,Tito, Pimpi, Maia), four cats (Tabù, Rosso, Robin, Nora), five hens (Sunny, Zoe, Penny, Coco and Anita), seven tortoises and one turtle (Rucola) - each with their own personality, habits and little routines.
  We live in a spacious home perched in a scenic spot just outside Perugia, surrounded by nature and with lovely views. Despite the peaceful setting, we are only a couple of minutes away from one of Perugia’s main commercial areas (Via Settevalli), so shops, services and everyday necessities are all very easy to reach.
  I am an international expert in environmental policies and I follow as much as possible a cruelty-free lifestyle, which translates into a plant-based diet, a reduced impact on the environment, and advocacy for animal welfare and liberation.
  My father lives independently on the ground floor of the house. He is 85, retired, and a genuinely delightful, curious and open-minded person who enjoys good conversations on just about any topic (in Italian). I live upstairs and work (mostly) home-based.
  Because of my busy work schedule and frequent travel, we are looking for attentive, reliable and genuinely compassionate animal lover(s) who would enjoy becoming part of our slightly unconventional household and helping us keep things running smoothly. More than anything, we want the animals to have a calm, loving and consistent routine, whether I am at home or away.

  Arbeit

  Because of my busy work schedule and frequent travel, over the next few months/year I am looking for one person or a couple with experience with dogs and cats (at least) who understand that every member of the multispecies family has their own personality, history and individual needs. All our animals are rescues; some have minor disabilities or special needs, and each one has little quirks and characteristics - but they are all adorable, loving and funny, and they all get along together!
  What we need most is a reliable, caring and hands-on presence who can help us look after the animals, the house and the garden. The routine varies depending on whether I am at home or travelling, but the workload should not exceed around 4–5 hours per day, and you will always have 1–2 days off per week to relax, explore the area or simply enjoy your own time.
  When I am at home, the main focus will be on sharing the daily routine and helping with light maintenance. This includes spending time with the dogs and cats, playing with them, walks and grooming, as well as helping to keep the outdoor areas and garden clean and tidy. Depending on the season, this may involve watering and repotting plants, cutting grass, light pruning and fertilising, as well as everyday tasks such as picking up dog poop, sweeping leaves and generally keeping the outdoor spaces pleasant and cared for.
  Looking after the other animals is also part of our daily routine. The chickens need to be let out in the morning and safely closed in their coop in the evening, their eggs collected, and fresh food and water provided every day, with a more thorough cleaning of their space once a week. When our land tortoises and aquatic turtle are awake — usually from around March to October — they also need daily care, including fresh food once or twice a day and keeping their habitats clean and comfortable.
  When I am away from home, whether travelling for work or shorter absences, your role with the animals naturally becomes more important. This includes feeding the dogs and cats twice a day (breakfast and dinner), administering any medication or temporary treatments when needed, and spending real time with them — including keeping them company in the evening and at bedtime. When I am away, overnight presence is particularly important. This does not mean that you need to stay at home all the time — you are of course free to go out and enjoy your own plans — but we do need someone who will treat the house as their home base while I am travelling, spending the evenings and nights here so that the animals have the comfort, company and sense of routine they are used to. While I am away, you are also welcome to sleep in my apartment rather than in the guest accommodation with a small catch: my bed comes with its regular furry residents! Some of them — Tito, Sofia, Pimpi, Robin and occasionally others — are used to sleeping with me and consider bedtime very much part of their routine. So, if you choose to stay in my apartment (preferred) you should be genuinely comfortable sharing the bed (and probably part of your blanket) with a few four-legged companions. For them, this is not only a cute habit but also an important part of feeling safe, settled and connected, especially when I am away. It also means changing indoor pet pads and cat litter daily and doing some general tidying and cleaning around the apartment, including the occasional little accidents from our senior dogs!
  Our indoor/outdoor cats also need food, attention, gentle care and affection, together with the occasional quick check for scratches or minor wounds they may get during their outdoor adventures.
  Life in a busy multispecies household is not always completely predictable, so daily plans may occasionally shift. There is a regular routine, but some flexibility is important: from time to time a temporary medical treatment, an unexpected veterinary visit or another small unforeseen task simply needs to become part of the day's plan.
  We also really appreciate any additional skills, interests or creativity you would like to bring into our little “community”. If you enjoy gardening, carpentry, DIY, painting, arts and crafts, or fixing and improving things, there is almost always some small project where an extra pair of hands — or a good idea — is welcome. We do have regular help for heavier indoor cleaning and maintenance, so you will not be expected to take care of everything yourself... although somehow, in a house full of flurries, there is always something to do!
  If you love animals, are trustworthy and respectful, have a natural eye for cleanliness and care, enjoy a peaceful but lively home, and like the idea of becoming part of the everyday rhythm of a slightly unconventional multispecies family, we would love to hear from you.

  Unterkunft

  You will have your own fully private and independent guest apartment within the house on the ground floor. It includes a bedroom with a double bed, wardrobe and desk; a living area with a sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchen; and a private bathroom with a shower and washing machine. High-speed wifi and aircon. Expenses (electricity, water, gas) are paid by us.
  As we follow a plant-based lifestyle, we have a preference to host people who do not consume animal-derived ingredients. We enjoy sharing meals whenever our schedules allow and are always happy to cook and eat together, with everyone lending a hand in the kitchen. You will be very welcome to join us whenever it works for everyone. At the same time, you are completely free to cook and organise your meals independently in your own kitchen, and we will provide a financial contribution towards your groceries.
  We live in a renown residential area outside the city centre, surrounded by nature on a hill with a lovely panorama, yet just a two-minute drive or short walk (approx. 500m) from Via Settevalli, where you’ll find all types of shops, supermarkets, services, and bus connections into Perugia. Free parking is available outside the property.
  Preference is given to those that can stay with us at least two months, and we are needing help starting as soon as possible (ideally end of September).

  Small-size, Pomeranian, former breeding dog. Gentle and sensitive, Maya is easily startled by high-pitched voices or sudden movements. She calms down quickly if you speak to her in a low, gentle tone and move slowly. She just needs a bit of time and patience to learn to trust you.

  

  Pimpi

  She's the little "miracle dog". She has survived so many health challenges that no one can quite guess her real age! She is blind in one eye, so it's essential to approach her from her good side. She loves affection, but strictly on her own terms and when she’s in the mood. She is a chihuahua toy.

  Small/medium-size.Lively and full of energy—especially when she realizes it's time for a walk! She is famously persistent: once she figures out she can get something (like endless belly rubs or extra affection), she will demand it until you give in!

  

  Sofia

  Small-sized, high-energy dog who loves being active, going out, and spending quality time with her people. she is energetic and friendly with a beautiful, sensitive personality. She shares Tito's playful excitement, but she also enjoys having her own space and quiet independence most of the time.

  

  Tito

  Small-sized, high-energy dog who loves being active, going out, and spending quality time with his people. Tito loves physical contact , licking and snuggles, but the second you show any interest in playing, his energetic side instantly kicks in! He shares a very strong bond with Sofia. We adopted him already without his right eye, this year he successfully recovered from a cancer intervention and chemotherapy. He is so charismatic
