Beschreibung
Hi, my name is Rodney and I live in the suburb of Ashmore, in the northern end of the Gold Coast.
I work in Brisbane 3 days a week and travel there by train. I moved to the Gold Coast from Brisbane in July 2023. If you can help in any of the areas feel free to contact me for a Workaway stay: gardening, French or German language exchange, vegetarian cooking. -

On the weekends I can take you to go surfing, for a hike in a National Park or to the markets. I can also help you practice your English if required.

I live in a 3 bedroom duplex with a small yard in the suburb of Ashmore, Gold Coast. You will have your own room with a double bed with a shared bathroom. I currently have one flatmate in the 3rd room (Sarge).

I live about a 15 minute drive from the northern beaches of the Gold Coast and about 25 minutes drive to the southern Gold Coast beaches. Public Transport by Bus/Tram to Main Beach Station takes about 25 minutes from the Bus Stop which is a 10 minute walk away. There are also many National Parks within an hours drive. There are nice weekend markets also within a 10 minute drive.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Lea)
Lea stayed 4 days at my place in January 2026 and it was a pleasure to host her. She did an excellent job keeping the home nice and tidy and also mowed the lawn during this time. She is friendly and it was nice going to the night markets with her and my housemate Sarge who also enjoyed playing chess with her.

I stayed with Rodney for 2 weeks, mainly cleaning and doing some garden work. Both Rodney and his housemate were wonderful people and made me feel so welcome from the moment I arrived, they both have become friends. I would highly recommend staying with them for anyone wanting to visit Gold Coast!

Andrea stayed 2 weeks in November 2025 and was an amazing help around the house. She spring cleaned the kitchen and pantry cupboards, washed the windows, repotted some plants and cut and fastened some timber boards onto the face of a deck. She was friendly and always up for a chat so was great company to have around. Highly recommend to host her.

Vom Workawayer (Clara & Timon) für Host
I had such a great time with Rodney! He took me out to go surfing two times and we did multiple things together, like going to markets, having a Barbecue or making a fire. The work I did was super simple and not much at all. I felt super comfortable with him and he's a very friendly, calm guy who I can warmly recommend as a host ☺️

Alica and her friend Aylin stayed 11 nights at my place with their task predominately gardening. They did a great job weeding each day and the garden looked much better after. They were friendly and cheerful so easy to host. I will always be grateful for Alica spotting the 2 playful Koalas on the ground during our walk at Coombabah.
