We had an amazing time house sitting for Joseph! Despite having to leave unexpectedly for a business trip, Joseph was incredibly generous and accommodating. He made sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of during our stay.
One of the highlights was getting to try the incredible sandwiches from his shop in Hokitika – absolutely delicious!
… read more Joseph even sent us off with extra sandwiches for the hike we were about to embark on, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The tasks he had us do were straightforward and enjoyable – painting, power washing, and replanting. We had a great time cracking on with the work, and the projects felt rewarding.
Overall, Joseph was a fantastic host, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help out and experience his hospitality. Highly recommend!

Joseph is a kind and funny person who always took the time to make us feel welcome. Early on during our stay, he hosted a small burger party with friends of his daughters, where we had the chance to meet some really nice people. We also spent an evening making pizza together, which was a great opportunity to get to know him better.
The work was varied and enjoyable. We spent a lot of time outdoors weeding, cleaning fences, and tidying up the garden. On rainy days, Joseph was thoughtful and gave us indoor tasks, like cleaning windows for the burger party. He always tried to assign jobs that suited our interests, and since we love animals, we got to take care of Titan, his adorable rabbit.
Joseph also gave us plenty of recommendations for things to do in the beautiful surrounding area, which we appreciated.
Thank you again, Joseph, for the amazing time! We would absolutely recommend staying with him to any future Workawayers.Feedback

Joseph is a very busy but very nice and welcoming person. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to other helpers!
We were staying in our own self contained unit, with a big bedroom, big bed and a little kitchen with no oven but everything you need to cook a nice dinner.

As there were no guests in the airbnb Hut, we could hang out there during the evenings, enjoying the unlimited wifi and the fireplace!
We had a glass of wine together one evening; which was a good opportunity to get to know our hosts a little bit more.
The work was varied, not hard and mostly outside work : cleaning the outside of the house, swiping the decks, tidying the gardens... We enjoyed it!
The surrundings are beautiful and Joseph gave us many recommendations about what to do around.

Working for Joseph has been great. Jobs were not hard and he was flexible with the hours. Unfortunately it was raining most of the time but Joseph was always worried about us so he told us to do inside jobs making sure we didn't get wet. We shared with him and his family a delicious dinner!!
