Beschreibung
Bonjour,
my name is Vishesh and I'm very happy to be able to host Workawayers on the beautiful island of Mauritius.
Are you a nature enthusiast and love to stay surrounded by nature? Are you okay with living a basic and simple life? Are you open for different tasks and willing to help wherever I need help?
I've been born and raised here on Mauritius even though I've stayed in South Africa for some years I had to go back to this paradise. After studying property and finance I decided to change my paths to agriculture because my dream is to become self- sufficient one day. We grow a lot of different fruits and vegetables like bananas, lychees, papayas, . on the 2,5 hectare property.
You will stay at my farm in the centre together with two dogs. I stay near the farm but I come and help with works usually everyday if there's no work for me to do outside. But I'm always available if you call me. You can easily walk to town within 10 minutes and the next beach is Flic en Flac. In your free time you can explore Port Louis, the beaches, hike mountains, enjoy the peace of my farm and play with the dogs or just go on a walk and go with the flow and see wherever nature takes you. You can get around Mauritius by bus or taxi but of course I will try my best to show you around the island as much as possible.

Some useful information:
* There's no washing machine at the farm so you'll do handwashing but I can wash your clothes at my home every now and then
* I provide you with veg food only but you have to cook for yourself (that's why we can easily manage different types of diets)
*All waters flow back into the ground so please bring only biodegradable toothpaste and soaps but no chemical products
*We are solar powered, you can charge your phone but no strong devices like hairdryers
*There is no wifi but network is very good and stable
*We have compost toilet
*Mauritius can face heavy cyclones in summer (December-February)

Arrival/Departure
Once we had a phone call we can confirm your stay. We can arrange a local taxi for you if you dnt have one.
Visa
Many nationalities are able to obtain a visa on arrival for free. Kindly check only for your country. You have to fill out an All-In-One-Travel-Form which you can find online on the official site. For volunteering purposes you'll need an invitation letter. Please remind me again if I forget to send it to you.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
Even though Mauritius is just a small island, it has a lot to offer. It is considered a melting-pot of many different cultures and religions. The vibe is difficult to explain but you'll understand when you see and experience it on your own. Whenever we go out to work or see some places I'll make you try a lot of our delicious street food. If you're interested I can take you to places I visit in my everyday- life so you get to see and experience how a local lives.
I love to cook and to eat so we can share some recipes and you can make me try your local cuisine.Projekte mit Kindern
Dieses Projekt schließt möglicherweise den Umgang mit Kindern ein. Mehr Informationen findest du in unseren Verhaltensregeln und Tipps hier.
Arbeit
You don't have to be perfect or an expert. Learning by doing is our mindset on the farm. Help will be a mix between things that have to be done and things you can get creative in.
There is no time you have to start and finish, we'll just see every day how we plan our days.
Tasks that have to be done all year round are managing the farm from planting and harvesting, watering the plants, producing soil and fertilizer, taking care of the dogs,...
I plan to have more animals like chicken, goats,.. in the future.
seasonal work:
*January-February pruning trees
*November-January lychee harvest (main source of income on the farm)
*September-December net repairing
Important for you to know is that we're also going out to clients and work for them. We have different types of clients so they give us completely different types of work. These outside works may include planting flowers and cleaning a garden but also cleaning and cutting out a "jungle".
Sometimes I give trainings or advice people for their own projects where you're more than welcome to join.Sprachen

I provide beddings and towels.
We are solar powered but still have different light sources so no worries you won't be stuck in the dark!
Food will be provided to you in exchange for work provided, However, you will need to cook for yourself. Was noch ...
As we don't have wifi on the farm you'll need to buy a Sim Card. You can either buy one with 200GB for 15USD at the airport or we can go and buy you one on our way to the farm.
We can also stop at an ATM on our way to the farm that you can withdraw cash (currency is called Mauritian rupee).Etwas mehr Information
