    *** CURRENT STATUS (Updated March 11) ***

    Due to the current situation in the Middle East, several volunteers who were planning to come in April had to cancel their visit because travel to the country became difficult for them.

    As a result, we decided to focus on completing the place — including the community kitchen — before properly launching the activities when the new school year starts in early May.

    For the moment, we are therefore mainly looking for a couple of handy people and/or people with a green thumb starting from April 17.

    ****

    In general, we are looking for SKILLED, AUTONOMOUS, CONFIDENT, and MATURE volunteers who can:
    • TEACH English or arts
    • HELP MAINTAIN the place (cleaning, gardening, light DIY)
    • COOK vegan meals

    *****************************************************************************************************

    We offer - at the moment - 3 types of positions, each with different commitment lengths and specific starting and ending dates:

    1. TEACHERS/INSTRUCTORS (English and/or Arts)
    We’re thrilled to welcome TESOL/TEFL-certified teachers of any nationality — as well as passionate native English speakers — to be part of our growing learning community!
    Classes run during normal school periods [early-May to end or September and early November until late March] on weekdays from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm for children and from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm for adults.
    [Days off on weekends]

    Our arts activities take place from Wednesday to Sunday [With Mondays and Tuesdays as days off]

    Open to:
    * Native English speakers or non-native certified TESOL/TEFL teachers to lead daily afternoon and early evening English workshops;
    * Skilled individuals in the arts ready to offer creative workshops.

    Commitment: At least ONE MONTH to ensure our learners do not experience interruptions.
    Here are the fixed available periods for easy planning:

    * May: 11th to 29th;
    * June: 1st to 26th [fifth week until July 3rd appreciated];
    * July: 6th to 31st;
    * August: 3rd to 28th;
    * September: [early start!!!] 31.08 to 25.09 [fifth week until October 2nd appreciated];
    * October: 5th to 30th;
    * November: 2nd to 27th;
    * December: [early start!!!] 30.11 to Christmas [fifth week until the 30th or 31st appreciated]

    2. GENERAL MAINTENANCE/LIGHT DIY/GARDENING

    Open to: Anyone handy and willing to help keep our space welcoming by cleaning it, taking care of the green areas, doing light DIY.

    Commitment: At least TWO WEEKS.

    Available periods:
    * April: 16th to 30th;
    * May: 1st to 15th and 16th to 31st;
    * June: 1st to 15th and 16th to 30th;
    * July: 1st to 15th and 16th to 31st;
    * August: 1st to 15th and 16th to 31st;
    * September: 1st to 15th and 16th to 30th;
    * October: 1st to 15th and 16th to 31st;
    * November: 1st to 15th and 16th to 30th;
    * December: 1st to 15th and 16th to 31st;

    3. VEGAN COOKING 🌱

    Open to:
    Vegan cooks who can prepare simple, affordable meals in large quantities, or volunteers who are genuinely motivated to learn and assist in the kitchen.

    You don’t need to be a professional chef, but you should feel comfortable cooking for a group and working in an organized and efficient way.

    Commitment:
    4½ weekdays (this is our shortest volunteer requirement).

    Availability:
    Depends on the number of volunteers present during your requested period — please check with us before confirming your plans.

    *** March 11th, update ***: We will have volunteers in the kitchen continuously until mid-April, with many portions already prepared. The position will reopen as soon as the community kitchen is ready.***

    Important:
    The purpose of this role is to help us provide tasty and nutritious meals for the whole group, prepared in a short time using commonly available and affordable ingredients.

    This is not intended as an opportunity to cook personal “comfort dishes” you may be missing while traveling. We kindly ask volunteers to avoid recipes that rely on plant-based cheeses, mock meats, or rare and expensive specialty ingredients.

    Our first vegan chef, Eleftheria, started a recipe notebook including cost calculations for each dish. We would like to continue this initiative and maintain clear records of recipes and their costs to ensure the project remains sustainable. Contributing to this system is part of the vegan cooking mission.

    P.S. Until the kitchen on the land is completed, cooking takes place at the nearby home of one member of our organization.
    This means that washing all cooking utensils, cleaning surfaces, mopping the floor, and leaving the kitchen tidy and spotless after each use are essential parts of the cooking mission.
    Thank you for your understanding and respect for the space.

    __________

    !!!SPECIAL OPTION FOR CAMPERS!!!
    Stay for free (tent provided if needed) with no work required, except for being present to ensure at least one person is always on site. This is an exception to standard WorkAway guidelines, which usually require 3 hours of work for accommodation (plus 2 extra hours for food).
    If you’re looking for long-term, free place to stay with shared toilets and bathrooms, please contact us.
    __________

    WHEN CONTACTING US, PLEASE CLEARLY STATE THE POSITION AND PERIOD YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION—IT HELPS KEEP EVERYTHING RUNNING SMOOTHLY!

    ******* PLEASE READ THE WHOLE PROFILE BEFORE CONTACTING US ********

    ** About Our Lifestyle **

    We want to emphasize that we are specifically looking for veg(etari)an volunteers.
    People who share this lifestyle are more likely to understand the bigger picture of what we’re creating here, and to appreciate the pioneering living conditions.
    Every task has a direct impact on the quality of life on the land, so your contribution will be meaningful and rewarding from day one.

    ** Working Hours and Daily Tasks **

    * English Teaching: Weekdays, 3:00 p.m.–8:00/9:00 p.m. (with a dinner break at 6:00 p.m.).
    =>Days off: Saturdays and Sundays.

    * Art Workshops: Weekends and some evenings.
    =>Days off: Two weekdays (schedule to be set).

    * Cooking: Mornings, starting around 9:30 a.m. for a couple of hours then more in the afternoon
    =>Days off: Saturdays and Sundays.

    * General Maintenance: Afternoons, flexible within the 5-hour daily schedule.
    =>Days off: Two weekdays of your choice.

    The best times for outdoor work are:
    - 7:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
    - 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

    Digital nomads can enjoy the long midday breaks at nearby air-conditioned cafés if it gets too hot on the land.

    IMPORTANT: When we mention "AUTONOMOUS" at the beginning of this profile, we mean that volunteers should be able to work independently.
    We, the organizers, come from time to time to bring food, organize the work, provide guidance if needed, and answer any questions.
    Please be aware that you may sometimes be the only volunteer on site. Therefore, you should feel comfortable being on your own.

    *** Accommodation ***

    Our tiny houses are a big improvement, but please note that the railway line (60–70 meters away) can be noisy. Some volunteers adjust easily, while others find it challenging. Earplugs are recommended.

    We encourage you to explore nearby provinces on your days off—both for the scenery and for potentially better sleep. Kanchanaburi, Hua Hin, and Bangkok are all easily and affordably accessible by local train.

    Our on-site presence: regular visits from Monday 3:00 p.m. to Friday 11:00 a.m.
    Weekends: Volunteers are autonomous. Meals are provided as ready-to-heat homemade portions, but you can cook fresh rice if you prefer.

    *** Mosquitoes & Safety ***

    - Mosquitoes are most active between 6:00–7:00 p.m.—please stay indoors during this time.
    - Stray dogs are sometimes near the railway crossing (about 600 meters away). Some volunteers avoid the nearest 7-Eleven at night; we recommend stocking up during the day or visiting another 7-Eleven 1.7 km away.

    ***Visas ***

    As we are a genuine philanthropic organization with the full support of local authorities and law enforcement, staying with us on a tourist visa or an exemption stamp is perfectly "acceptable".

    Please be aware that due to widespread misuse of volunteer visas (Non-Immigrant 'O') during the pandemic, these permits have become significantly harder to obtain. They now require extensive paperwork that our small team cannot currently facilitate, particularly for short-term stays.
    In the future, we may consider sponsoring visas for volunteers willing to commit to at least six months, following an initial one-month trial period.

    Immigration screening when entering the country has become much stricter over the past few months.
    A volunteer who was supposed to stay with us for several weeks had her permission to stay denied because she had entered the country too many times and did not have a ticket for onward travel. Immigration officers required her to purchase a ticket on the spot, and she was only allowed to stay until the departure date a few days later.
    Please make sure you have an onward or return ticket to avoid the same inconvenience.

    Please ensure your entry stamp covers the duration of your stay. If you need an extension, we kindly ask that you process it before joining us to prevent any complications.

    Finally, please note that our land does not yet have a registered house number, which is required for immigration forms. When completing your Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), please use the address of a guesthouse or hotel in Bangkok or elsewhere.
    Be sure to use the official government website ending in ".go.th" for all filings.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    *** Location details and contact information ***

    Because of repeated last-minute cancellations and some past communication issues, we now share the exact GPS coordinates only a few days before the confirmed arrival date.
    The title of our listing, along with the travel information provided at the end of the profile, already gives a clear idea of the general location of the hub.
    Please also note that we do not provide a direct phone number in advance. A local contact number will only be shared once we have met in person at the hub.
    We also do not use messaging or social communication apps, so we kindly ask volunteers not to request or propose them.

    Thank you once again for your understanding.

    __________

    *** Commitment and Planning ***

    As this is an ongoing project, we organize accommodation, food, and work planning based on the confirmed arrival dates of volunteers.

    For this reason, we kindly ask people to apply only if they are reasonably certain about their travel plans and availability for the agreed period. Last-minute cancellations can significantly affect the organization of the project.

    If you are GENUINELY INTERESTED (and not simply curious or keeping us as a plan B or C), please send us a message indicating your preferred position and your available dates.

    We are working toward creating a self-sustaining space with clear and easy-to-follow routines, so that anyone can step in, understand the system, and contribute meaningfully.

    Thank you for your interest and understanding — we truly appreciate thoughtful and committed applications.

    ___________

    Sawadee Khrap everyone,

    We are an official foundation registered in Thailand.

    Here is the translation in English of our goals:

    · To promote and publish knowledge that popularises eating vegan.

    · To encourage vegan consumers to know and understand the benefits of eating vegan and the process of picking, producing or obtaining vegan foods.

    · To promote the cultivation of organic homegrown vegetables, fruits and grains at the household and community level, to promote joint local activities and support the co-learning process amongst local communities, to also raise awareness of the negative effects on the environment of closed system chemical use in the cultivation of crops and livestock.

    · To promote the understanding and consumption of vegetarian and vegan diets by presenting information backed by scientific and medical studies, through a variety of different media.

    · To support and assist the coordination of clubs, associations, organisations, groups of individuals and various group activities involved in publicizing the consumption of vegetarian and vegan foods, as well as to support campaigns that highlight the importance of a vegan lifestyle, for improved and efficient cooperation that is more vigorous and broader.

    · To promote the non-consumption and non-use of animal products.

    · To cooperate with or manage charitable organisations and public organisations for the benefit of the public.

    · To not become involved in the political or religious sphere.

    **********

    We found out that it was very difficult to work online so we decided to create a "hub" around a vegan café and bistro where we can ONLY welcome SERIOUS volunteers ready to dedicate time and efforts to the cause.
    So, to make this happen our coming project is building that place with recycled material and reclaimed wood.
    Two tiny houses are almost ready to welcome the volunteers and also offer the opportunity to curious people to experience that minimalist kind of accommodation.

    **********

    Foundation's policy regarding video calls: WorkAway is a platform based on trust with a safe messaging interface to get in touch and organize visits.
    We do not ask for more, so please do not request any video calls or any other kind of social interactions applications (Whatsapp, LINE, Telegram, Signal, etc.) since we are busy with taking care of all the things going on at the moment such as the planning and construction of the hub, not to mention all the paperwork a legal entity generates.
    Let's be as efficient as possible with the organization of your visit.
    Thanks for your kind and comprehensive understanding!

    P.S. We’ve got over 25 years of experience in planning and organizing, and we’ve actually worked with hundreds of people over the years before starting the foundation.
    One thing we’ve learned: a smooth and positive start makes all the difference when it comes to working together.
    So, if we’re not able to connect well from the beginning and organize your stay clearly and politely in just a few messages, we usually don’t move forward.
    Please keep that in mind before reaching out — if you’re really ready to join us, we can sort everything out in just a couple of days.
    But if communication stalls at a key moment, we’ll assume the stay isn’t going ahead.

    Once the hub is fully ready (hopefully after Thai New Year 2569 (April 2026) we have many ambitious projects that will require time and minds such as:

    *️️️️️️️️️️ organizing events promoting the vegan diet and lifestyle;

    *️️️️️️️️️️ establishing MOU with local institutions;

    *️️️️️️️️️️ creating links with similar and related organizations abroad;

    *️️️️️️️️️️ trying to establish the "Meatless Mondays" in all international schools of the country (166 in 2016 according to the Office of the Private Education Commission) thanks to informative and educational presentations; starting with kindergartens;

    *️️️️️️️️️️ raising funds in order to finance all those activities; one of the ways to achieve will be linked with the promotion of a metal band that signed a donation stipulating that they give away all their copyrights money to the foundation.

    For these we will be looking for volunteers:
    *️️️️️️️️️️ with a very good sense of organization;
    *️️️️️️️️️️ with good computer skills;
    *️️️️️️️️️️ who can take initiatives within the goals set by the board;
    *️️️️️️️️️️ who can work as a team and in autonomy (it sounds obvious but in reality it's not always the case);
    *️️️️️️️️️️ who are serious and committed.
    That's for the basic skills.

    But for now we have the building projects that require those specific skills:
    * Construction / DIY;
    * gardening;
    * vegan team cooking.
    If you have at least one of those, your work with us will make a big difference!

    We are offering 3 vegan meals a day (please have a look at one of the pictures to see the food you will be served).
    Please note that it is mainly local/Asian food (dishes accompanying rice) so if you expect European-style food (especially for breakfast; we offer right now tea, coffee and organic bananas) you might be disappointed; then you should not know apply for the position before the vegan bistro with more elaborate dishes will be able to provide the meals for the long-term (1 month) volunteers.

    # March 2025 update regarding food #
    Everyday, we will serve one natural protein sources in the form beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu and once a week wheat pastas (it might sound surprising but wheat is also full of proteins), if you feel that is it not enough, please let us know and we will provide you processed products from the Thai "Youta (veggie" company.

    Our previous accommodation located in Bangkok has been a great source of misunderstanding and waste of time in the past, so we decided to take another direction way.
    The foundation has signed a 3 year lease for a 8,000 sqm plot of land in the Nakhon Chai Si (นครชัยศรี) area
    where we are currently developing the hub to pilot and conduct our projects.

    Right now we have a sanitary block with toilets and bathrooms and 2 tiny houses.
    There is still a lot of little things to do to make the place welcoming; right now the feeling might be more "building place" and "quagmire" [on raining days] but things can change very quickly if we have en enthusiast and dynamic team ready to make it beautiful.

  • Was noch ...

    Was noch ...

    Of course, this position is only open to veg(etari)an people who have strong knowledge about animal rights and the impact of industrial agriculture on the planet.
    We precise this because we already got applications in the past from carnists who seemed to be mainly interested in the great location of the accommodation. (Hopefully, the more countryside one will discourage those).
    So when you contact us, to make sure you have read the profile, please let us know in your message the number of years you've been living without meat consumption and what was/were the reason/s behind this choice, so we will be sure you have read it until the end.
    Thanks for your kind understanding.

    We are a legal entity working for the good of general population so all members and volunteers need to have an "irreproachable" attitude, which means: NO CIGARETTE, NO ALCOHOL and of course NO DRUGS allowed in the area. You can "party" during your days off in the capital or somewhere else but not at the café nor in the neighbourhood.

    We are also only looking for physically and mentally healthy volunteers since our place is not aimed to be a therapeutic one for people who need to help themselves at the first place. So please do not apply if you are under medication other than iron and/or vitamin B12 supplements and/or if your are followed by a therapist.

    And of course, you should not have a criminal record.
    When the place will be opened to the public and that we will organize activities with children, our local government partner (องค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลงิ้วราย : Ngiu Rai Subdistrict Administrative Organization) asks a copy of a "clean criminal record extract".

    *** A final note about experience and profile fit ***

    Over time, we have noticed that the volunteers who tend to integrate most smoothly into this project are usually people who already have some life experience, practical skills, and the confidence to work independently.

    Many of our most positive experiences have been with volunteers roughly between their mid-twenties and mid-forties, as the balance of initiative, responsibility, and collaborative spirit was often a very good match for the needs of the project.

    That said, age itself is not the determining factor. What matters most to us is maturity, autonomy, practical sense, and a positive attitude toward shared responsibilities.

    The project environment is generally calm, focused, and collaborative rather than party-oriented.
