  Hello! We love to host guests from around the world and expose our daughter Ruby to different languages, cultures and food! We are an easy-going and adventurous little fam, we love to spend time at the beach, walk the trails in the magical forests of Gabriola, do yoga and spend quality time with our community and friends.
  
  My husband and I are in our mid-40's, Ruby is 3.5, I'm a leadership coach and my husband Will is a yoga teacher. We have a studio on the property with daily classes you can attend if you're a yogi!
  
  In our home you can look forward to a peaceful and serene environment, short walks to the ocean and plenty of laughs!

  Gabriola island is an epic place for nature and the summers here are magnificent. Our house is within walking distance from the ocean and within short driving distance to the stunning beaches and hiking paths. There is an incredible farmers market here, lots of beautiful fresh food and a gorgeous community of people.
  
  While you're here, you would learn what community can look like and experience a family dynamic that is playful, open and FUN!

  Arbeit

  We have two options for Workaways:
  
  Option 1: Creative play and caring for our daughter, along with creating meals and beauty in our home. In this capacity, you would stay in the loft in our home. For this role, we currently host guests who identify as female, as the position involves caring for our young daughter.
  OR
  Option 2: Landscaping and carpentry projects around the property.
  
  Option 1: Home, creativity & time with Ruby
  
  For this to be a good fit, you’ll need to be able to go with the flow and genuinely love children. Please note that we usually only accept female guests, as you’ll be spending time with our daughter, Ruby.
  
  Ruby is 7 years old—very social, sweet, and full of energy. She loves playing, art projects, beach time, and wilderness adventures. Your days with our family will vary depending on activities and the weather. We typically need support with:
  
  Making meals
  Light housework
  Creative projects
  Gardening
  Spending time with Ruby
  
  We’re big foodies and love to cook—so we’d be excited to learn from you and share meals together!
  
  Option 2: Building & land-based projects
  
  For this to be a good fit, you’ll need to be an experienced builder or landscaper who’s excited to jump into some very cool projects we have underway.
  
  Current projects include:
  A sauna
  A treehouse
  Landscaping around a new apartment
  
  You’ll stay in a beautiful, sunny, hand-crafted one-bedroom apartment (with office and bathroom), separate from the main house. This option is for a minimum one-week stay.
  
  The rhythm of life here: We’re very flexible with our schedule—you can let us know when you want time to explore, be in nature, or venture around the island.
  
  When you’re at the house, there’s usually always something we’d love help with. At the end of the day, we often gather for dinner on the beach with friends.
  
  There’s plenty of ways for you to drop in and create some beauty here, in your own unique and special way ✨

  Unterkunft

  We have a private loft on with beautiful views/tall windows on both sides + your own private bathroom. There is no door on the loft but you still have privacy as you can't see up there from the main room below.
  
  That said, the main room below is our living room/kitchen, so you will be somewhat close to the action during meal times :) We come and go throughout the day but the house is pretty quiet most of the time. We also have a 10X10 Kodiac Canvas tent, 7 feet high that is all yours if you want additional privacy and time in nature!
  
  The apartment: beautiful, sunny, hand-crafted one-bedroom apartment (with office and bathroom), separate from the main house

  There is a bus that goes from one end of the island to the other and to town. We also are happy to give lifts and hitchhiking is a thing here as well, very safe and friendly environment! Summer activities include kayaking, paddle-boarding, hiking and visiting many amazing sights!
