  The factory and the adjoining Art and Souvenir Shop are located near the CurAloë Plantation and the Ostrich Farm on the serene and beautiful east side of Curaçao. Visitors can tour the Factory and Shop, free of charge, and see how Serena’s amazing souvenirs and sculptures are made.
  
  It is a registered concept and company. It is also the place where Serena professionally restores sculptures in plaster and stone for churches, museums, individuals and firms. The tropical garden surrounding is used for lively open air workshops for individuals and groups, who enjoy painting Serena’s sculptures and souvenirs themselves and to combine nature, animals and art together.
  
  At her larger than life art sculptures are produced individually and her delicate souvenirs are cast in silicon molds and made of various materials like plaster, epoxy and concrete. This is done by a team of local craftsmen, experienced in both modern and traditional techniques.
  
  The sculptures and other Caribbean figurines are polished, finalized and transported to the homes over fifty local painters. Here the sculptures come to life, when they are painted in 25 beautiful Caribbean colors, by a team of talented, local women, trained by Serena herself.
  
  Each woman paints the sculptures and other souvenirs in her own colorful style, but follows specific directives to guarantee a certain product consistency. Many women have developed their skills to such an extent, that the Factory is frequently approached by clients for custom made assignments and special requests.
  
  It radiates artistic energy and possesses an atmosphere of inspired multicultural cooperation. Working with a close and committed team. The sculptures and other souvenirs blend German craftsmanship with Caribbean colors and art and carry the passion and spirit of all those who help to create them.
  
  We have about 100 painters/artists that paint the sculptures and about 25 staff at the Factory who work in the production, shop or as maintenance/gardening.

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  Curacao is a prime example when it comes to blending cultures from all over the world, think of Dutch, African, Latin American, Caribbean and so much more, they all join the party on our island. There is so much more than just a sea to explore. When coming to Curacao you best prepare yourself for a colored fairy tale with each house having a different color. Rugged terrain to explore with jaw-dropping views.
  Just taking a stroll in the supermarket you're going to come across so many people speaking different languages to learn, a prime example being our native language Papiamentu.
  
  You're going to come across it all, all of the colors of the rainbow to express what you feel any moment of the day, tourists coming in everyday with their experiences and cultures, a workplace with a stunning view and surrounded by cacti and not to mention a team coming from different backgrounds on the work floor.
  
  Joining our team even for a short period will give every traveler an insight on how mixing different cultures to create one is one of the best ways to go. They will have the possibility to learn to speak Spanish, Papiamentu, Dutch or even German! They can unleash their inner creativity in whatever way that may be think of painting, helping with your hands, gardening, DIY and helping in the production to create our famous or with our farm animals and creating enriching activities for them.

  Arbeit

  We're an already quiet sustainable business and were super proud of that however we know there's always room for improvement and get even better. It would be great to add some people to the team with experience in helping out with creating sustainable projects in the garden and within the team and business. An open, driven and hardworking mind goes far within the team.
  
  We have a big yard at the factory that needs man and woman power to keep the general maintenance going and withhold the garden in its existing place and improve it. So someone strong, hard working, heart driven, caring and an eye for detail would be most fitting.
  
  We are an artistic business so someone with a creative mind, coming with new ideas and willing to help on implementing them will be an awesome add for inspiration withing our company.
  We have tourist from all over the world coming to visit out factory and get to know the experience we have to offer and having a team who is able to provide an unforgettable artistic experience to each and every person coming to visit is our main goal. We try to represent Curacao, our island with our business.
  
  We have different animals like goats, sheep, dogs, cats, turtles and horses on our property. These need to be cared for, fed, and stables must be cleaned regularly. Someone with allergies for one of these animals wont be a proper suit for us because these animals also form part of our team. A person with experience in animal care or someone willing to learn and isn't afraid is more then welcome. Riding the horses wont be an option unless agreed upon with Chayen, the daughter of Serena (the owner of the Art Factory) upon arrival, this cannot be discussed before.

  The workawayer must at least understand or/and Speak English or/and Dutch so a proper conversation can be held between Serena and the workawayer and the team.
  We do not accept people who smoke cause we promote a smoking free area.

  I, Chayen am very interested in always learning new languages. At the moment I'm learning Portuguese slowly but surely for example but every other language is another one to add to the list

  Unterkunft

  The type of accommodation we can offer is a 40ft container transformed into a small studio, including a queen size bed, a big shelf with lots of space to store clothing, a desk and a air-conditioning. right outside of the container there's a small kitchen with a fridge and freezer available, sink and stove besides the kitchen there is also an outside shower available.
  About 200 meters away from the container there is also a bathroom with shower in it. Keep in mind this bathroom is shared with other collogues and clients/guests visiting the factory, so it must stay representable and clean at all times.
  
  Each workawayer will get a budget per week to spend on groceries. This budget will be discussed with the workawayer upon interest. We ourselves go to do groceries every week or every 2 weeks so the workaways can join the ride to the supermarket and back. The nearest minimarket 'Arco iris is about 6 minute car ride away, a little less then an hour of a walk away or about a 25 minute bike ride.
  
  The house and container are on the same property and within meters of the shop, atelier and factory. So the place and person must be representable at all times when the shop is open because clients come in at all times during the work day to visit us or attend a workshop every Tuesday and Saturday.

  Was noch ...

  Our shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8 to 17 o'clock so each traveler would have a bit of 'longer' weekend. Because it is situated in the east side of Curacao surrounded by nature, you wont find a party right next door to say to speak. But it's the perfect place for nature lovers who love to go exploring and hiking. The nature reserve of Saint Joris has plenty of trails to offer.
  
  The center of Curacao, Willemstad or also named Punda is the center of it all, with a vibrant nightlife. Sipping on the best cocktails, dancing to the beats of different kinds of tunes and enjoying the starlit Caribbean sky. Best way to get there would be by local transport like the bus. But keep in mind the bus schedules on our island are not perfectly organized, and the nearest bus stop is about a 20-35 minute walk from the factory. We have a bike available and in the future a mobile scooter as well. Carpooling with fellow colleagues that can drop you off somewhere is possible and communicating with the team can get you a long way.
  
  Curacao has a lot of different beaches to offer all over the South side to visit, but besides beaches also a bunch of different activities, think about visiting the aloe vera plantation, the ostrich farm, diving and snorkeling, different tours to join and landmarks to visit and foods to taste. Just ask us and we can give you our best things to do as well;)
  
  We (Serena and my daughter Chayen) live on the property of the factory as well about 500 meters away from where the workawayers will be staying. We are always available if there's an emergency but we also love our private area and time for ourselves when the collogues haven't arrived yet. But that doesn't mean that we completely want to exclude ourselves from the workawayers.
  If we are also heading out somewhere and you'd want to join you'd be more then welcome.

  We have different WIFI antennas around the yard reaching the container/accommodation. The internet connection has been pretty stable at the moment but Curacao in general is quite known to have unstable internet connection which could effect our routers. But these moments don't last long and only up to a few hours.
