  Hi everyone, please read our entire profile before contacting us :)
  Located in the Haut Pyrenees, nestled in the mountains. We have lived in this beautiful part of the French Pyrenees in a former Holiday Center now since 2018, all the while working on renovations. It is a large building last redecorated in the 70s with steep grounds, some forest, a mini waterfall and some terraces (some of which we still need to create!).
  
  Our project is to renovate and refresh the building to make it into a Backpacker's hostel.
  We are just the two (plus baby Teo) of us and we need help with ALL the things. We're a franco-english couple Damien (originally from the SE of France) and Samantha (UK) - we're both in our mid 30s, Teogan was born last October.
  
  Our goal is to create a space where travellers feel at home, with a sense of community and conviviality - something we also are looking for in the workaway experience where everyone pulls their weight and mucks in for the work and for day to day living. We care about the environment so prefer to host volunteers who understand the importance of recycling and avoiding waste. Also having a little baby does make cooking etc much more challenging. Offering to cook shared meals is hugely appreciated - we dont expect you to prepare every meal but day to day living needs to be shared in order for us to be able to sustain our exchanges on workaway with a baby so we hope to host people with this understanding.
  
  The work itself will depend on the season - number of hours and type of work will vary so please do contact us so we can discuss everything further. Please note you will never be expected to do more than 5 hours of work per working day! We remain exceptionally reasonable and equally don't expect workawayers to clock watch or take large breaks without compensating for them...

  Salut à tous, SVP lisez notre profile entierement avant de nous contacter :)
  
  Nous vivons dans les trés belles Pyrénées françaises dans un ancien Centre des Vacances - c'est-à-dire un grand bâtiment un peu vétuste avec une beau terrain trés en pente, de la foret et une petite cascade :)! Notre projet est de rénover et rafraichir le bâtiment pour en faire une auberge pour routards, genre Backpackers. Nous voudrions aussi privatiser une petite section pour en faire notre appart. Nous ne sommes que tout les deux et avons grand besoin d'aide vue le nombre de trucs à faire.
  
  Je m'appel Damien, originaire du sud-est de la France et ma compagne Samantha, est Anglaise et notre petit bout etait né en Octobre 2023 qui s'apelle Teo - ou "le boss bebe". Notre objectif est de créer un espace où les voyageurs se sentiront chez eux, et où l'esprit de vie en commun et de partage sera mis en valeur. Nous espérons avoir ce genre d'ambiance avec les volontaires. Nous sommes soucieux de l'écologie et souhaitons recevoir des volontaires qui prennent aussi soin de notre environnement.
  
  Nous avons nous-mêmes été bénévoles avec workaway à plusieurs reprises et dans toutes sortes de conditions. Nous voudrions que les gens se sentent chez eux lorsqu'ils viennent ici. Nous sommes donc flexibles sur l'organisation des sessions de travail et les préférences des workers.
  Les horaires et type de travail va dependre du saison donc on discutera de que on est en contact. Vous enquetez pas, on demandera jamais plus de 5hr par jour travailler - et au meme temps on n'attends pas que les benevols prends des longues pause sans ratrapper...on est tres raisonable et on attends ça de deux cotés.
  En terme d'activités et divertissements, il y a beaucoup à faire et pour tous les gouts.
  Pour les accommodations, nous avons beaucoup de place donc vous aurez votre chambre privée, couple ou single :).

  All within very close walking distance max 5 min walk:
  - a river to sit by or even bathe in if you're brave (very cold!)
  - an outdoor climbing wall - for all levels
  - a rock face climbing spot for experienced climbers
  - a via-ferrata
  - bungee jumping from the Pont Napoléon
  - thermal baths
  - the start of numerous small walks, most leading onto bigger hikes
  A little further a field you can also find:
  - The cirque of Gavarnie is 30 minutes away by car - with the largest waterfall in Europe
  - a Local monday morning market with local produce - also sometimes there are artisinal markets
  - Water sports (fishing and swimming in the rivers) in summer
  - winter sports (3 resorts within 25 mins drive)
  - cycling (Col du Tourmalet)
  - paragliding
  - local Brewery (15 min walk)
  And so much more including some spectacular day or multiday hikes (the GR10 goes right past our front door and the Neoville national park isn't far...)
  
  We will share good, home-made meals - We don't eat much meat - and are comfortable hosting vegetarians.
  
  We dont cater for snacks and share alcohol if you enjoy drinking. There are two supermarkets, x3 bakeries, x2 butchers, a grocers and cheese and wine shops in the village (15 min walk from us)
  
  Sam is a yoga teacher and you're welcome to join her classes if there's room - it is her profession but at your discretion as to whether you offer a donation or not.
  
  There are guitars and a bar room in the hostel with table tennis for your use on your time off.
  
  We will be happy to help you and teach you a bit of French and English expressions. We also speak some Spanish but are a little rusty so it could be nice for us to practice that too.
  We have travelled a lot and love to share stories of travel, culture, adventures. We also enjoy political, environmental and social discussions and love learning about people's cultures and local histories so feel free to share and chat away with us. We can be opinionated but keep an open mind :D
  
  We have a few basic bikes available for short rides or going into town.
  You can also use our washing machine.

  Vous pourrez profiter de la rivière à 5mn pour vous caler tranquille. Le cirque de Gavarnie est à 25 mn en voiture. Il y a des randonnées à gogo tout autour. Marchés locaux et produits du pays. Sports aquatiques (pêché et nager dans les rivières) en été, sport d'hivers (3 stations à 25 min en voiture). vélos (col du Tourmalet), Escalade (des spots accessible 5min max a pied), parapente, via ferrata. Brasserie artisanale (5 minutes en voiture). Saut à l’élastique du Pont Napoléon (2 mn à pied). Accès au thermes (2mn a pied) avec discount!
  
  Nous cuisinons plutôt bien et aimons la bonne bouffe. Nous partagerons donc de bon repas fait maison avec les produits locaux. Nous ne mangeons pas beaucoup du viande (sauf pour les barbecues :) - On ne boit pas de lait de vache - alors si vous en voulez, vous pouvez en acheter dans la village - Même chose pour le grignotages entre repas!
  
  Sam est professeur de yoga. Vous pourrez donc participer dans ses cours - dons a votre discrétion.
  Il y a des guitares et une salle de Bar dans l'auberge avec table de ping-pong.
  
  Si vous êtes étrangers, nous seront ravis de vous aider et vous apprendre les bonnes expressions françaises et anglaises. Nous parlons espagnol mais nous sommes un petit peu rouillés du coup, ce sera aussi cool de pratiquer!
  Nous avons beaucoup voyagé et aimons échanger sur les pays, la culture, les aventures et les avis des uns et des autres.
  
  Nous mettons à disposition quelques VTT basiques pour faire de petites balades ou aller en ville et des luges l'hivers
  Vous pourrez aussi utiliser la machine à laver le linge.

  Arbeit

  We are also looking for people to help us, share skills and knowledge because there is a lot to do and a lot of possibilities. Work will be both in and outdoors depending on what projects we're working on at your time of your stay and the weather - do feel free to ask before your arrival (we'll usually have a little idea :D). We are now well experienced in most areas we work on for renovations.
  
  The main things we are currently working on are:
  - Land clearing, pruning, terrassing, landscaping and sometimes a vegetable garden in spring / summer
  - Wood chopping
  - General renovation of the house - sanding, painting, wall partitioning, electricity, tiling... etc.
  If you have any masonry / carpentry / DIY skills ... that's great :)
  - we also now have a little Teo and although we are NOT looking for an aupair or live in baby sitter but if you are comfortable we may ask you to mind him now and again (like when Sam's teaching yoga)
  - cleaning and tidying
  
  We expect you to clean and tidy up after eating, cooking and working - we dont host workawayers to practice parenting teenagers haha so please be sure to clear up after yourself.
  2-3 meals are provided if you are eating with us - if you're off hiking/skiing for the day then we let you take care of your own picnic. Cooking is part of the work of the community so everyone makes an effort to cook or at least help - Sam will prepare most lunches so it doesn't take up your work time but please participate in dinner especially every now and again.

  Nous recherchons surtout des gens pour nous aider, partager idées et connaissances car il y a beaucoup à faire et beaucoup de possibilités.
  Cela peux être dedans ou dehors selon les envies et le climat. Les principales choses sur lesquelles nous travaillons actuellement sont:
  
  - Dégagement du terrain, élagage, debroussaillage, bois de chauffage, terrassement, création d'espaces verts et du potager en printemps / été
  - Rénovation générale de la maison - bande de joints, peinture, cloisonnement, éléc, construction bois, assainissement etc...
  - Travaux type chantier (travail manuel, levage de charges lourdes...)
  - Bricolage de base et transport de matériel
  (Travaux sur déco / design)
  - Si vous êtes alaise avec les bébés on va peut-être demander de faire garder Teo mais jamais pour plus de deux heures et seulment si vous etes alaise (on n'est pas a la recherche d'un nounou mais c'est plutôt pour soulager)
  - nettoyage et rangement
  
  Si vous avez des compétences en maçonnerie/charpenterie/elec/bricolage... c'est top :)
  
  Nous attendons que vous nettoyez et rangez après avoir mangé, cuisiné et travaillé. Ça nous semble un peu exagéré de devoir préciser cela, mais nous avons eu plusieurs fois le cas ou nous devions régulièrement faire papa et maman ce qui n'est bien évidement pas l'interaction recherchée ;)
  2-3 repas sont fournis. Faire la cuisine par contre fait partis du travail de la communauté donc chacun fait son effort pour cuisiner ou au moins aider!

  The name of the village we live in is Luz-Saint-Sauveur - between Cauterets and Gavarnie. We are also not far from the highest astronomical observatories of the French Pyrenees - le Pic du Midi and are on the route of the Tour du France (not far from the famous Col du Tourmalet if you're into your cycling).
  The closest airport is Tarbes-Lourdes which is a 40 minute drive from us. There is a bus direct from the airport to Lourdes and Soloum (we can collect you from Soloum if you cant make it up to luz). There are also trains from Tarbes to Lourdes and a bus or coach service from Tarbes and Lourdes to Soloum/Luz-Saint-Sauveur/Bareges - the details change regularly so do ask if you need further info. Hitchiking works very well around here as long as you're not in a huge rush - people are generally nice and friendly.
  
  The village centre is just a 15 minute walk from us and has a range of grocery shops (including 2 supermarkets), bars, restaurants, a local market every Monday morning etc. There's also a bowling alley, a small cinema, library and book shop in the village.
  We're not remote but you can get into real nature 5mins on foot from our doorstep.
  We have wifi throughout the building. You're also very welcome to use our computer or laptop on your time off if needed.
  
  Everyone clears up after themselves after eating, cooking and working - we're all adults ;D. Please be prepared to do your share of house-hold tasks, washing- up, keeping the bathroom clean (this isn't considered the work you're doing as volunteer hours 😂). Please take initiative, it gets awkward reminding people to clear crumbs, set the table etc.. In the spirit of communal living we all help each other in day to day tasks. Also it's important to us that you engage with Teo, he may be a baby but he's pretty switched on and is part of our family.
  We also really appreciate it when people offer to cook as although Sam enjoys cooking it's good to have a meal or two off - Sam will generally prep lunch so you can focus on your work.
  
  Please note that it's cold here in the autumn/winter and to bring enough layers especially for moments when you'll be sitting still and not working :). Although don't worry, we do have central heating so you shouldn't freeze. Also good to bring clothes you don't mind getting dusty or dirty and shoes suitable for manual work. We do have some stuff you can borrow but it depends on your sizes.

  Nous vivons à Luz Saint Sauveur entre Cauterets et Gavarnie! Nous sommes également à proximité du point culminant des Pyrénées - le Pic du Midi.
  L'aéroport le plus proche est celui de Tarbes-Lourdes, à 40 minutes de route. Il y a des trains de Tarbes à Lourdes et un service de bus ou d'autocar de Lourdes à Luz Saint Sauveur - les détails peuvent être trouvés sur le site web HeureBus, keolis-pyrenees ou mobimipy.
  Il n'est pas indispensable d'avoir une voiture. Le centre du village se trouve à 20 minutes à pied et dispose de nombreux magasins d'alimentation (y compris un carrefour market). Il y a des bars, des restaurants, un marché local tous les lundi, une piscine municipale, des courts de tennis, un beach volley, un bowling, un cinéma, what else!!!? Vous pourrez tout faire ici sauf profiter de la mer :).
  Nous prenons souvent l'apero le soir donc nous demandons aux gens de participer si ils veulent boire. Vous pouvez acheter du bon vin/bière locale. Pareil pour le grignotage, les 3 repas sont bien fournis donc si vous mangez en dehors des repas, prévoyez de vous acheter des snacks.
  Il faudra bien sur aider aux taches quotidiennes comme faire a manger, faire la vaisselle, mettre la table, gardez vos chambres propres etc. Pour les sanitaires, merci de les garder propres pour les autres utilisateurs.
  Le petit +, nous sommes dans les montagnes et dans le sud ouest, ici les gens sont plutot sympas :)
