Beschreibung
Hi, I’m Tario!
Join our small international project in the Spanish countryside, where we are slowly creating a sustainable and self-sufficient eco-village. We focus on restoring traditional rural buildings, reusing materials, and developing a vegetable garden that will eventually support the community.
At the moment, my sister and I are at the project, but we will soon return to our jobs — I work as an English teacher in China and she works in London. We will be back in the summer. In the meantime, we have local volunteers on-site, and you are very welcome to join the project during this more independent phase.
This means you will enjoy a high level of autonomy. Each Workawayer has their own fully private accommodation with a complete kitchen and bathroom, as well as Wi-Fi, electricity, and hot water. We can provide ingredients for meals, and working hours are flexible. We are not strict with schedules — we prefer mutual trust, responsibility, and open communication.
There are always different creative and practical projects happening here — construction, gardening, organizing spaces, improving infrastructure, or even developing your own small initiative. If you have specific skills or interests, let us know and we will try to allocate resources so you can work on something meaningful.
We are located near El Estrecho de Fuente Álamo in the Murcia region of southeast Spain. The property has direct access to the highway, making it easy to reach Cartagena, Murcia city, and the Mediterranean coast. Although we are in the countryside, we are very well connected.
One of our local volunteers currently has a car and can occasionally help with trips to town. However, as we are still in the early stages of the project and the location is rural, it is highly recommended that you bring your own car so you can move around independently and comfortably.
Pets are welcome. Some volunteers have brought their own animals, and currently we have small dogs and a few cats living on the land.
Our volunteers speak Spanish, English, and a bit of German. We warmly welcome people from all cultural and language backgrounds.
If you’re looking for a peaceful environment, meaningful hands-on experience, and the opportunity to live quite independently while contributing to a long-term vision — we would love to hear from you.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
At the moment, our project is in a quieter and more independent phase. My sister and I will be away working (I am in China and she is in London) and will return in the summer. During this time, there will be local volunteers on the finca, but social activities and group dynamics will be more limited than during peak periods.
This is also our first time hosting international volunteers, so we are at the very early stages of building this part of the project. We do already have some local Spanish volunteers staying and coming regularly, and we have confirmed Workawayers starting from March. If you join us before the summer, you will be part of these early foundation stages of the community.
This setup is ideal for Workawayers who enjoy autonomy, peaceful surroundings, and the freedom to structure their own days. You will have plenty of personal space to focus on hands-on projects, creative work, language learning, or remote work while experiencing rural life in southern Spain.
Although daily social interaction may be lighter for now, there will still be opportunities for natural cultural exchange with other volunteers on site. We encourage volunteers to share skills, ideas, and small group activities organically.
Looking ahead to the summer, our goal is to gradually grow the community and create a more vibrant and social environment with a larger group of international volunteers. If you join us now, you will be helping shape the early community — and you will always be very welcome to return and see how the project evolves!
Arbeit
At this early stage of the project, our main focus is on developing and improving the shared infrastructure of the finca. We especially appreciate volunteers who enjoy practical, hands-on work and are happy to contribute ideas as the space evolves.
Current projects include gardening and starting the vegetable garden, construction and improvement of common areas (including the communal kitchen), fencing parts of the property, and setting up creative workshop spaces for clothing and furniture refurbishment, as well as recycling and reusing materials. We also welcome help with small improvements that make both your private living space and the shared areas more comfortable and cozy.
Right now, the priority is creating functional and welcoming common spaces and making the best use of the existing facilities. If you enjoy building, organizing, fixing, or creatively improving spaces, you will likely feel very at home here.
*IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER*: Workawayers will NOT be asked to help with any business-related activities, with paying guests or visitors, or in spaces used by them. All activities are purely related to cultural exchange and personal projects within our private property.

All languages are welcome here — we love having people from different countries and backgrounds. That said, it’s important that you can speak at least basic English or Spanish so we can communicate easily in everyday life, work, and shared activities. We see language as part of the experience: you can practice, learn, and exchange languages naturally while living and working together in the community.
Unterkunft
Workawayers will have their own fully independent private space, as described above (See pictures). Each studio-style unit includes a private bathroom and a small equipped kitchenette, allowing for comfort, privacy, and autonomy during your stay. We are currently completing fencing around the property, and there is a security camera installed at the main entrance gate, helping ensure the finca remains a safe and secure environment for everyone.

Please note that the finca is located in a rural area and public transport access is limited. Connections to nearby cities do exist, but they are not very frequent or convenient, so having your own car is highly recommended. We have plenty of parking space on the property.
We also welcome volunteers traveling with campervans or caravans. There is a quiet area of the finca where you can park, and we can provide access to water and electricity.
If you do not have your own vehicle, we do have a shared car on the finca that can sometimes be used. To drive it, you would need a valid driving license and the appropriate documentation to drive legally in Spain (especially if you are from abroad). This can always be discussed in advance.
There is always someone on the finca who can drive, and we try to help each other out with lifts to town or practical needs. We value a cooperative, supportive community spirit, and we do our best to make sure everyone feels included and supported.

Kann Digital Nomads unterbringen
We have good reception and internet connection for data plans in all the houses, but WiFi is limited to part of the property (we are working on fixing this at the moment). You will have plenty of quiet space to work during the day, we are flexible and happy to adapt schedules so that digital nomads can balance their online work with helping on the finca.

Platz zum Abstellen von Camper Vans
We welcome campers, vans, and motorhomes. There is space to park in a safe and quiet area of the property, and we can provide electricity and access to water.

Hier sind Haustiere in der Regel willkommen
Pets are very welcome, as long as they are friendly and well-socialized, since there may be other animals on the finca, including pets belonging to other volunteers. In the future, we are considering adding farm animals (such as chickens, and possibly even donkeys), and we would love to involve volunteers in helping prepare the facilities and spaces for these animals as part of the project.
