Fern is a fantastic volunteer: extremely capable, kind, focused, intelligent and hardworking. Vom Host für Workawayer (Barbora & Ondřej)
Barbora was a fantastic volunteer. She managed to do more work with a baby on her back and two small children and a husband to look after than most volunteers manage without such encumbrances! She organised my pots and picked cherries and raspberries, spent so long rolling tea that she injured her wrist (everyone else got bored but she just kept

Because of the drought Barbora and Ondrey had to spend a lot of time watering and I really appreciate all their work and diligence in keeping my plants alive!
The family as a whole had a lovely way of engaging with nature and were interested in the environment. I really liked Ondrey and Barbora's views on bringing up children and life generally and they all seemed to enjoy weeding trees and removing protectors in the forest. I hope the children will return when they are young adults as I am sure they will become wonderful people!
It was difficult eating with them and in retrospect it would have been better not to have tried as there were too many restrictions but I applaud them for eating the same food as their children (all cooked by Barbora) and the children ate really well (I just like a lot of chilli, mushrooms and eggs all of which were taboo). They were really good at eating their 'greens' and absolutely loved the kombucha which I hadn't really thought of as a children's drink before.
Generally it was good to have a family to stay. I think it is nice to have children around, especially such lovely, interesting and polite ones, and Barbora and Ondrey were equally friendly, interested and engaging!
If you have space for a family then you should accept them...I am glad I did!

It’s amazing what Rosie managed to accomplish on her farm. What used to be grazing grounds 30 years ago is now turned into woodlands consisting mainly of native deciduous trees. In a very positive way she changed the landscape around the town of Insch, bringing in biodiversity and life.
Our work at the farm included gardening (watering, weeding, preparing beds for vegetables), picking fruits (cherries, raspberries, elder flower), tree management (care of trees planted in previous years) and path maintenance (strimming).
We were glad to meet Rosie’s two adult children and other workawayers/helpers, which made our stay even more interesting and enjoyable. Also, Pepper the dog is the best pet to be around kids!
