It's not easy to build authentic community these days. It's not easy to find the space to focus on our own creative passions without the pressure of making money to survive. It's not easy to relax – to experience who you truly are without the constant pressure of having to do.
I'm Teo, and I'm very blessed to be supported by a modest passive income. This has allowed me to experience life as I believe it's meant to be: no constant survival struggle to make money. No subtle pressure to monetize my gifts and creative passions. No need to promote myself on social media, unless it's a project I'm genuinely proud of and believe will benefit others.
I just finished my first novel. I am launching a Vedic astrology app. I have been meditating twice a day for over ten years. I love to dance. I play drums, flute, and keyboard. After a dramatic spiritual awakening studying with a Himalayan Swami in 2014, I quit my high-paying job at Google to travel India and the world.
I am spending the next six months in a beautiful four bedroom house in Upper Dharamkot. It's peaceful here. And beautiful. Dramatic Himalayan views outside the windows. Quiet peaceful nights with the crickets chirping out the window.
5 minutes down the hill is Lower Dharamkot, a popular backpacking destination with many cafes, travelers, fun shops. There is live music, dancing, yoga, and the cultural exchange that comes from sitting in a cafe with people from other countries, talking about shared passions and self discovery. It's active now. In the winter it grows quieter.
5 minutes up the hill is Tushita Meditation Center. A beautiful buddhist retreat center where people go for day sits or longer retreats. There is Dharamkot Studio, a pottery studio and cafe renowned across India with the most striking views of the mountains I've ever seen. Nearby there are many mountain hiking trails.
Mcleod Ganj is down the hill with its temples and monestaries. The Dalai Lama's residence is a modest walk.
It's a beautiful place. The pace is slow, but the active tourist scene keeps it from feeling remote and isolated.
I want to share this way of life with other yogis, creatives, and friends. Who would you be if you didn't have to worry about money? If you could take a month, or three, or five, and live in a house in the mountains, and focus on yourself with the help of friends. I envision the Workawayers I host here will engage in an exchange with one another. How can we help one another with our projects? Can I help you learn meditation or Vedic philosophy? Help you with a technical project? Can you help get the word out about my book, or offer feedback? Can you help another Workawayer with their passion projects, using your unique gifts?
In addition to our creative and healing exchange, there are small things to do around the house. Mostly decoration. I moved in recently, and I still need to buy a lot of furniture. Keeping your own space and common spaces tidy. We will have a housekeeper coming 4x a week, and our meals will be delivered through a local tiffin. I also imagine us cooking together and sharing family style meals, when it feels like joy and not labor.
Please, join me! Discover (or re-discover) how exquisite life can be when you live at your own pace, surrounded by like-minded people who are doing the same. -

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
We will be a hub of international or Indian travelers, sitting in a sacred city in the Himalayan mountains, surrounded by other travelers and local villagers. The possibilities for cultural exchange are endless: language, food, dance, music, bodywork, etc.

Arbeit
Above my personal "needs" for my projects, I want to create a supportive space for like-minded people. To be honest, the main thing I will get out of hosting is friendship and community. I've been deeply on the spiritual path for a decade, and before that I was in tech – software engineering and product design. I'm also a musician who loves to dance. I went to massage school and enjoy giving and receiving bodywork. If you see alignment in any of these things, send me a message.
The vision of the house and where most of the "work" in Workaway will fall is in mutual support of our creative projects. Bring a project you are passionate about, or have always wanted to work on but never had the time and space, or just bring yourself and discover in the process how you genuinely want to use your energy. I see us offering mutual support in both the creative and self-discovery endeavors of being human.
Personally. for where my creative projects are at the moment, I could most use support with marketing and social media: people who know how to grow an audience, write content that lands, make short-form video, and get a novel and an astrology app in front of the people who'll love them.
I spent a decade in tech, and have a number of other tech-project "irons in the fire." I'd love to collaborate with experienced software engineers and product designers, as long as you have a genuine interest in spirituality, because that's really what this house is built around.
I'd also love to teach and share. My meditation practice is mature. I've read a lot of eastern spiritual texts, studied with teachers, and had a daily practice for over a decade.
Finally, there will most likely be odd tasks to do around the house, gardening, decorating, tidying. Taking care of our beautiful sanctuary. Things like that which will keep our home comfortable for everyone living here.
If you feel a resonance with this project, please reach out. -

Unterkunft
Four bedrooms (each with its own attached bath, private entrance, lockable doors, and comfy king bed), two common rooms, covered marble balconies on every floor, a slate courtyard, grassy terraces next door, and a big roof terrace looking straight at the mountains. There's indoor and outdoor co-working space with Himalayan views, and kirtan and village life drift in through the windows. We're nestled up the hill from Lower Dharamkot among the villagers. Next door is a nice cafe called "Cool Talk" for juice, tea, food, and an accessible second space to hang out. The main town of cafés, shops, and bohemian social scene are five minutes down, and Tushita Meditation Centre and the forest are a hundred meters up. The kitchen shack outside has "Every morning we are born again" painted on it.

This is a chill, peaceful, yogic household, not a party house. No alcohol (on rare occasion maybe we share a bottle of wine), a sattvic lifestyle, morning practice on the roof, and music and dance in the evenings. Your time goes partly to making the house beautiful (setting up the roof, building a winter kitchenette, curtains, painting, decorating, the terraces) and partly to our shared creative and tech projects, matched to your strengths. Cooking may be part of the exchange. You get your own room with attached bath and your own entrance, and all meals are provided.
