Beschreibung
This is a place for short and long stays in the middle of the pine forest in the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca. Most of our visitors are artists looking to rest and disconnect from the hectic world outside. This is a place composed of several comfortable cabins to enjoy a few days of rest in the mountains. This place means "among the forest" in the Zapotec language, the native language of the family that owns the huts.
The climate is quite pleasant, due to the altitude, we are over 2,500 meters above sea level, it is cold at night and during the day it is quite pleasant with sunshine most of the time. In the kitchens of the cabins we drank water from a spring and enjoyed the quietness and sounds of the forest.
After two artistic residencies and hosting more than 20 artists in the last two years, we considered it a good opportunity to use this platform to invite volunteers to help us with details that we would like to improve the place. Like the construction of stairs, gardening and take care of the place in general.
The project is coordinated by a local family and a couple of foreigners (Roberto and Florian) who have been living here for the last three years. We have no employees, we all do tasks equally according to our time availability. We all contribute from our possibilities to keep the beauty of the place in its simplicity, comfort and practicality.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Here you can learn more about herbalism, eco-construction, cultural project management, films, kundalini yoga and an immersive experience with a local family with whom you can learn about medicinal herbs, cook local food and enjoy walks in the surrounding area.
In your free time we also suggest you to explore more of the area. We live 25 minutes drive from San Jose del Pacifico, an area well known for medicinal mushrooms and Maria Sabina, a healer, mushroom ceremony guide who knew many famous people in her time. Also nearby are the villages of San Sebastian and San Mateo Rio Hondo. Small villages full of many traditions that are still preserved.Arbeit
We are looking for a person or a couple to support us by building some stairs over the dirt road, these will help in the rainy season so that the ground does not wash away. They also help with the care of the gardens.
We are looking for people who know how to use basic carpentry tools. People who enjoy solitude, love the soundtrack of nature, reading a good book and hiking in the mountains, this is for you.Sprachen

This can be a great experience for practising languages. We also have a small library with interesting books in different languages and we are a couple who enjoy chatting while we cook for/with everyone, also during or after the volunteering we can take the time to get to know the surroundings. Roberto speaks Spanish, English, a little French and Portuguese. Florian speaks French, English, Spanish and some Portuguese. Griselda's family speaks Spanish and Zapotec, her mother tongue. We always enjoy good conversations during or after work. We are people who enjoy contemplating nature and its calmness. This place is ideal for people who are looking for a lot of peace and quiet for grounding.Unterkunft

Our place is a little off the main road, it is very quiet and is perfect for people who like to enjoy the tranquility of nature, for transport you can either walk 15 mins to find a taxi or public transport, also if you want you can ask for a mototaxi, it costs a little more but it is more comfortable to travel in them.
Normally every Monday we drive to the market in Miahuatlan to buy food for the week.Etwas mehr Information
