Beschreibung
I'm an American born German 63 years old woman, who has dreamed all my life of a little home in a sunny warm region near the sea. And ... here I am.
Everything here is not perfect yet, life is pretty rustic, water from the tab should be used carefully as it comes by a camion, drinking water needs to be fetched from the fountain, there is also a second outdoor compost toilet that needs to be emptied every other day, by one of us.
So be prepared to a pretty basic lifestyle, though our Workawayers usually have had wonderful times here.
You will live in one of our two huge glamping-tents, or in a caravan, mainly use the outdoor facilities (of course you will always be welcome in the house but space is rare there too and the hot water in the outdoor shower in winter usually is even warmer than in the house - where it is heated by solar energy). We want you to have your own space and be able to make sure you get exactly the amount of "me time" you need.
Daily routines: I usually feed our three cats at sunrise (they were rescued from the trash when they were a few days old - please keep them in mind - if you are allergic against cats, it might not be good for you to be here? ), then I water the plants and if I'm in a good energy I dance or do some dynamic or silent meditation, Qi Gong, or garden work before breakfast.
I love to eat and love to try new dishes. As I'm allergic against gluten we'll provide you as well with gluten free food.
Food containing gluten can only be eaten in the outdoor kitchen. No gluten in the house.
We usually eat vegetarian but we also love fish and meat but try to eat less meat, to conserve resources and respect the lives of the animals. We'll prepare one warm meal a day (or you do that instead of other work if you'd like to?) and often (not always) love to eat in community. Lunch is a great moment to come together, to feel connected, to communicate our hopes and dreams and exchange experiences and stories and ... whatever is needed.
For breakfast and an additional snack (if needed) - you can usually just help yourself.
We'll provide enough fresh ingredients for you, to serve yourself from our huge outdoor fridge.
My partner Alberto still has to work in Germany (I'm ill and therefore in early pension) - sooo he's not able to be here for more than a vacation. That's why I'd love to have some help and company for the next few months/years.
I like it best if you choose some kind of project or just some duties in the daily routine and are able to work independently except of course asking me any questions you have.
I speak fluently English and German, pretty good French and Italian, little Spanish and Turkish (...lived in Istanbul for 5 years).
Sooo, I'm a really open hearted and minded person, creative, a dreamer, full of ideas for a full and fulfilled life.
And that's what I also want you to experience: a fulfilled time in our home (the 89 years old Mamma Lucia was the former owner of the land and she still comes often to share her tremendous wisdom about farming and Italian cooking with us) -

The Italian culture in the small towns here has embraced me with multiple cultural offers. In the evenings everybody meets at the piazza. Sometimes (mainly in summer) for cultural events or (rather in winter) just a little chat in the shade of the historic churches and old pinetrees.

I can provide practicing different languages mainly German and English. -
Arbeit
As my partner can only be here partially and I am having hard times bending my two broken knees, I need a lot of help with the land:
The garden - 1ha of mainly olives, wine, figs, almond and other fruit trees, lots of artichokes and in future - whatever you will help me plant...
The house - is new and there are still incredible many things to be done.
Carrying, installing and building furniture; painting, creative tiling ... or whatever comes up.
Household- help with the cleaning/cooking is anyway always wellcome. As I'm needed everywhere in the land and have two broken knees (torn ligamons) I also need your help in the household, if possible. Of course I'd never stop you from any gardening help or art project besides... 😉
In summer our main working times are between 6-13 (or even earlier) including an hour breakfast break...
3-5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
In winter I'd prefer to slow down a bit... -

Unterkunft
You will stay in one of our Glamping tents- one with two beds (140 and 90 cm wide), the other with a single bed only, both with a table and chair and some space for your belongings . Or in winter you'd rather stay in our heatable canpervan with a little kitchen inside. You'll sleep in pure nature inmidst of the olives, figues and almond trees. You have a shared outdoor bathroom nearby and can use both fully equipped outdoor kitchens. You're also welcome in my house, but there is little space inside, and sometimes we to need our "me-time".

Our old bicycles need some care, but may be used.
The sea and a beautiful long sand beach, but also small quiet hidden coves in a nature reserve - are a 35 min bicycle ride away, (by car: 12 min) .
The beautiful little towns San Vito dei Normanni (very original italian) Carovigno (sooo charming italiano) and Ostuni (very "touristy" but beautiful) are nearby, Brindisi as a capital city, busy and also very italiano, with plenty of cultural offers is 20 min by car and there are busses going all day long (but the busstation is about 25 min walk away)...
I'd love you to enjoy both: the rural area, silence of nature but also the lively Italian "dolce vita" on the streets on the piazza in the evenings. -

Piccolina lost her only baby and since then is kind of lost in space (?). She seems a bit depressed, doesn't clean herself as cats usually do and is extremely shy. But - she's a real beauty!

Leo is the "big brother" of Paola and Giovanni. He's the sweetest cuddler, loves to lie on his back and have you pet his soft fur on his round belly...

Paola was our little babygirl she almost died, when we found her with her two brothers in the garbage. Now she's a young caring cat lady - tries to clean every living subject she gets in touch with and loves to play around with her brothers.

Giovanni is a real stronzo and he walks through life by the beat of his own drums - always checking out what's up out there...
