We are a large animal rescue in County Kildare who always need willing helpers.
There’s a very good bus service to Dublin and other parts of the country if you want to explore on your days off.
The rescue organisation is very busy and full of energy, we regularly have emergencies to attend and new animals arriving constantly, visits to the veterinary hospital, and sometimes have to deal with severe cases of neglect. It is not for the faint hearted, but it is incredibly rewarding. People who enjoy this type of help have lots of energy and enjoy getting hands on experience with large numbers of animals of all varieties. We have many horses, Shetland ponies and donkeys, pigs, goats and lots of dogs.
It is hard and tiring help but very rewarding.
All the volunteers are a great bunch of people, very friendly and helpful.
It’s noisy and full on most days. Always people in and out.
It is very important that you speak some English. Winter you would need warm clothes and warm boots/wellingtons.
We have a no meat policy because most Volunteers are vegetarian or vegan.
The farm is a busy happy place 💕

We have a bustling rescue centre where many volunteers come to help out as a team. They will learn about how to treat injuries, basic vet nursing, handling horses, gaining trust, equine nutrition.
We are looking for three types of volunteers.
We need 10 physically fit volunteers able to help with animals, muck out, water, feed, help with fencing, all the tasks needed on horse farms.
We also need one or two volunteers to help in the house. Cleaning, organising, making beds, cleaning cupboards, perhaps making simple lunch for all the volunteers.
As a busy farm, we are also looking for some handy volunteers. People who can fix fences and do general yard and house diy projects. You never know what needs doing.
Please let me know in your message which type you are interested in.
A lot of team spirit is needed and the ability to communicate is important.
Good English is essential.

We have a range of accommodation options, either in shared rooms in our farm house or in our little cabins. Accommodations are basic but clean and linen etc is provided.
Food will be provided by us, there is always loads of food at the farm for volunteers.
We all eat a vegetarian or vegan diet on the farm. The farm is a no meat zone.

The opportunity to travel is great. We also have regular buses to the West of Ireland from our nearest village and to Dublin. The area has canal and forest walks but own transport would be advised for real exploration as we are a volunteer based rescue and don't take time off personally.
Great if you have a car but not essential.
Travellers from some countries may require a work visa. Please check if this is a requirement with your country.

If I were to provide feedback, I'd ask that more detailed information regarding tasks and expectations would be appreciated. There are countless little tasks, so I understand that it might be complicated, but maybe some more detailed descriptions attached to the chore
As well as being great with the animals he shows amazing leadership, hard work and was very resourceful. Liam also undertook a lot of admin, marketing and hiring duties for us.
We would welcome him back anytime.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your farm. Overall, I had a good experience, but there were a few things that made me feel uncomfortable.
I appreciated feeling welcome on the farm, and your team as well as the other workawayers were amazing. I enjoyed getting to know Claire. She was great with me, had a good sense of humor,

The work is hard but is so lovely to do
I spent nearly 3 months on the farm and quickly felt like part of the family. I can't say enough good things about the volunteers, everyone is so kind and go out of their way to make you comfortable. Because of the farm being so rural you end up spending all your time with the people living with you, and every weekend there is
The other volunteers made me feel welcome and comfortable in every moment.
In the rescue there was always a lot of work to do, but there were a lot of local volunteers there so I never was alone. It was hard

The work was physically demanding but there wasn't too much to do and you were never on you down doing it. The horses need to be fed and have the enclosures and stables cleaned out but other than that you could get as involved as you want to, if you wanted to do
The care given to the animals here is truly inspiring to see.
I was made to feel very welcome from the minute I arrived and met some lovely people involved in the project.
All of the animals had their own characters and getting to know them was great.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of
We actually liked it so much that we not just extended our stay by a couple of weeks but also came back before leaving the country - and are now planning our next visit because we miss the team and the
After arriving, 5 days had passed before I realised that I had not once considered what was beyond the front gate outside of the property. We had a lovely new mobile home situated in the main front yard with a view of the farm and we were constantly
This was my first work away experience and couldn’t have wished for a better one, I was there for about one month.
There were many highlights of the month, from how welcome I was made to feel, all the volunteers made me feel part of the group, with there overall kindness and friendliness.
