*Please note that I work and study in shifts, so I can only confirm dates up to 10 days in advance. Kindly contact me no more than 2 weeks before your arrival, and I will then provide details on the specific help I’ll need. I normally host a single workawayer. Ocassionally I could host 2 workawayers.*
Hello Workawayers, I am Michelle, a full time teacher, teaching mainly music (Piano, Violin and Singing), and also Mathematics. I also attend university full time and doing a pure science major, along with running a small touring side hustle and renting room. Sometimes, my friend come to live with me.
I thrive on structure, routine, and having planned outcomes. Casual small talk doesn’t appeal to me; instead, I find great enjoyment in engaging in discussions regarding to mathematics. Mathematics is a serious hobby, so I am most excited to meet engineers, mathematic majors, and anyone like minded.
Another fun interest of mine is Herpetology. I am very keen to look at snakes, lizards in nature.
My home is the most suitable for those who are eager to experience a typical Malaysian life in a local neighbourhood.
I live in a local government housing area. The people who lives here are low income people. In my building, you will see many local people and the way of their daily life. I am located in Georgetown, Penang Island. My building is very near the sea.
On fridays, saturdays and sundays, children come to my place to learn. So, you will get to observe the children and highly encourages to interact with the children. You are however not allowed to take photos of the children to protect their privacy. You are allowed to play music on weekdays 10am - 8pm only
I have reduced mobility as I have partially torn 6 of my ligaments in both knees. I cannot stand for a long period of time, walk a long distance, kneel and squat. Therefore, I do not go out much unless if I have to. During my free time, I draw and colour, read books and swim.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Location and Nearby Attractions:
My place is just a 3 km walk to the city center and the UNESCO Heritage Site, making it very convenient for you to explore the local culture. You can also take Bus 12, which goes directly to the city center. The heritage area is rich in history, and you’ll find numerous museums that are well worth a visit.
Cultural Experience:
Staying in a local government flat offers a unique opportunity to experience the daily life of a community, particularly people from lower-income backgrounds. It’s a great chance to observe and interact with local residents, including the children who come to my place to learn. I highly encourage you to engage with them, as this can provide valuable insights into the local culture and way of life.
Music Lessons:
I offer music lessons (Piano, Violin, and Singing) to Workawayers at a discounted rate. You’ll be able to take a minimum of 3 hours per subject per week. If you're interested, feel free to reach out, and I’ll provide you with more information on the different lesson packages available.
Planned Activities During Your Stay:
To make your stay both enriching and enjoyable, I will organize various activities that allow you to immerse yourself in the local culture and explore the beauty of Penang and beyond. Activities will be planned based on my available time, and workawayers will not be able to choose specific activities. However, I will ensure each activity is engaging and culturally significant.
Some examples of activities I’ve organized in the past include:
- Mini Food Tour
- Round-the-Island Tour
- Camping
- Nature walk at Penang Botanical Garden
- Cultural Dance or Music Show
