  It is a space created in 2017. through civic activism, repurposing and reviving the ruined building for the needs of citizens in the field of cultural-artistic, social and youth programs, which have been continuously taking place in it since then. The use of the space is freely available for programs that are public, open, promote pluralism, dialogue, mutuality and all forms of social, cultural and artistic activity.
  Over 300 events, such as exhibitions, international volunteer camps, musical events, plays, inclusive programs, art workshops, film screenings, board game nights, anime festivals and bazaars, art colonies, book promotions, were organized in the past six years.
  Working community of Gnezdo consist of coordinator and working groups (production and programming, repair and maintenance, photography and archiving), as well as monthly assemblies open to all. We do not have employees.

  The city was founded in 1371, by Prince Lazar of Serbia (1371–1389), who used it as his seat. The remains of a 14th century fort can be visited, along with the museum in the courtyard of the fort, to get a good look into the cultural history of medieval Kruševac.
  Kruševac is a city and the administrative center of the Rasina District in central Serbia.
  Kruševac National Museum - exhibits are sorted in 7 collections: archaeological, ethnographic, numismatic, cultural and historical, natural museum, fine arts, and applied arts. The visitors are mostly attracted to Price Lazar’s gown and the original model of Vidovdan Temple, done by famous Ivan Mestrović.
  "Slobodište" Memorial Park– once a nazis concentration camp- on a place where nazis shot several hundred patriots from Krusevac and its surroundings during the Second World War. The central part belongs to a concept which was realized by Bogdan Bogdanovic, after the idea of Dobrica Cosic, in a period of 1960 to 1965.
  Art Gallery - The family house of a famous merchant Ljotic from Krusevac, built in 1920s, today is a place of the Art Gallery established in 1961 within the National Museum of Krusevac.
  The House of Simić -one of the oldest buildings in Kruševac built in the late 18th or early 19th century when Kruševac was liberated from the Ottomans. It is believed it used to belong to Ottoman beys, Frenevic brothers, and Stojan Simić, afterwards, who was the first authority of newly liberated town and the one who got the house as a gift from his godfather, Miloš Obrenović.
  Milić of Mačva Gallery - an academic painter from Belgrade, born in Mačva, one of the most distinguished painters in contemporary Serbian painting, a legacy of more than 120 paintings depicting Serbian history.

  Arbeit

  It is an independent cultural center in the inland of the country, which means that its financial and human capacities are often insufficient to cover all the necessary work that has to be done so that the center's diverse and continuous program can run smoothly. During regular days, jobs include cleaning inside space, taking out the trash, watering flowers, washing dishes, mowing the surrounding grass, minor repairs and maintenance. Specific work tasks may include reorganization and arrangement of space for technical equipment, tools, boiler room, storage room, guest room, repairing the facade, plastering, recording promotional videos announcing programs, designing promotional materials (posters, facebook and Instagram posts) or, if volunteer knows to do it - conceptualizing and filming TikTok videos to bring the activities of the center closer to young people. Sometimes it is necessary to make furniture from pallets for sitting on the terrace or shelves. During the winter months, it is necessary to chop wood and maintain a fire in the boiler.
  The days when the programs take place, depending on the very nature of the program, may include the preparation of works and assistance in setting up the exhibition, procurement and shopping in the city center, sound and technical rehearsals, moving furniture, stage, speakers, etc., cleaning after or before the party, posting posters in various locations around the city (in this case, we have a bicycle available), helping with a theatre play settings, purchasing drinks for musical events, cleaning the banks of the Rasina river, festival preparations, equipment handling, organizing others to complete tasks, participating in art workshops by animating young people or children, taking photos or filming events, etc.
  If volunteers can in some way contribute to the diversity of the program, because e.g. they also do circus, music, painting, etc., that is very welcome.

  Unterkunft

  Volunteer accommodation is in the central area, where all events take place. There is small separate room on the ground floor for accommodation but toilet is up. Two couches are regularly available, and if necessary, we can add more mattresses in common room on the ground floor. It is a non-smoking area, but with a large terrace overlooking the small river Rasina, on whose bank the area is located. During the summer, it is possible to swim on the beach below the center. The working time of volunteers is 3 hours a day, with two free days a week in which there is no program, which means that the days are determined on a weekly basis. There is a kitchen located in the bar, a gas cylinder with burners, but food is not provided and is left to the volunteer. We can arrange differently, with the volunteer's consent, if we plan some special tasks that will require more work per day. In that case, we will provide meals for the volunteer. The shower is solar powered and installed in one of the toilet cubicles, which means that it is not suitable for the winter months. During the winter the place is heated with wood, and the month of February turned out to be the coldest. Internet is available.

  By plane: If you are arriving by plane to Serbia, you are landing at Belgrade or Nish (Niš) , and you should find the Main Bus Station in one of those cities and proceed to Krusevac.
  Krusevac is 190 km away from Belgrade so it would take at least 2 hours and 15 min by bus for you to get from one city to another.
  If you come by plane to the airport Constantin the Great in Nish, you need to take the city bus 34A and exit at the Main bus station in Nish. Bus 34 is a circular line, and 34a is from the airport to the bus station and 34b is from the bus station to the airport, same line opposite direction.
  From Krusevac bus station it is 15-25 mins on foot. If you take a taxi from the bus station the fare should be under 2e (200 RSD).
  Near Kruševac, good to visit, is Jastrebac (Serbian Cyrillic: Јастребац) a mountain in central Serbia, between cities of Nis, Krusevac and Prokuplje. It consists of two massifs, Great (Veliki) and Small (Mali) Jastrebac. Its highest peak Velika Djulica has an elevation of 1,491 meters above sea level. It is well-forested and presents a popular hiking and mountaineering destination. Jastrebac is bounded by the rivers of South Morava on the west, Toplica on the south and Rasina on the east.
