Take part in developing an artist residency in Testa Dell'Acqua, South East Sicily, Italy

• 

  Beschreibung

  We are a small artist residency in a small village in rural Sicily.
  With a background in events and hospitality, we want to rebuild a small farmhouse develop a garden and safeguard the nature around us. We also have rented two more spaces where we can host, have a trailer and tiny house onsite.
  
  It is and independent project and we still need to build some more structures, plant and maintain vegetable gardens and fruit trees.
  A few animals live on the plots connected and we look after mango and popo the goat, some chciken, a few dogs and cats.
  
  We regularly host small events at local community level and have artists and friends from several countries visiting us.
  
  This is a private project by Kristine, Bertold and Mark - all of which come from the arts.
  All events we do are for friends, and their friends only and on donation basis for cost covering.
  In august 2024 we have registered a no profit association that allows us to do events for members and a monthly market in the village every last sunday of the month.
  
  We like it see our spaces as open containers for ideas and cultural content for locals and visitors alike.
  As artist residency space we regularly host artists form various disciplines working in various projects.

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  Because of the nature of our project and background, we have a big network of very diverse people.
  The small village is in short walking distance and the local bar is a meeting place for people living in the village.
  We look forward to finding interactions on various subjects and are happy to share our experiences/knowhow.

  Arbeit

  Help is appreciated in gardening, experience in applied permaculture, carpentry and masonry, and helping to host and organize small events.
  
  We would love to learn more carpentry and masonry skills!!
  We are open for ideas, so feel free to share yours!

  Unterkunft

  Depending on the period it can be a private bedroom with a shared bathroom or a tiny house with a compost toilet. P
  eople traveling with vans/campers are welcome and there are connections to our water and electricity.
  
  Workawayers will have access to an equipped kitchen with basics for simple breakfast and meals + bbq possibilities.
  There is also a shop and a bakery in walking distance.
  Depending on our commitments, period and length of stay we may have more or less meals together.

  Was noch ...

  Within driving distance there is a lot to explore in terms of culture, archeology, nature, and beaches Catania with the mount Etna is only one hour away.
  There are some beautiful walks around where we are located.
  
  We are open-minded and welcome independent adults that we make an exchange with, but are not looking for babysitting in exchange of free labor :)

  We only take one van/camper at the time and it can be placed on our property with access to water and electricity. We kindly ask that the guest take care of their own garbage.
