Beschreibung
We are a few friends, keen on language practice, creative, interactive, fun and educational activities meant for children aged betweeen 6 and 18 years old, who started our own business in 2014, with a view to boosting up education in Romania. We organise English language summer camps and try to have English courses all year round.
We would also like to promote our beautiful region not only to Romanian children, but also to those who come and join us.
Everything happens in the small town of Petrosani, a town with great scenery, surrounded by mountains and historical places, so if all this appeal to you and you are fond of teaching, we would be more than happy to have you here with us.

Arbeit
For the English classes:

• Testing students for their level of English upon arrival
• Teaching students according to appropriate materials and syllabus based upon level
• Preparing and keeping class lists, records of work, class registers, preparing certificates and reports
• Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring that all students participate in lessons

• Ability to work under pressure, if needed

Petrosani town is situated in a beautiful mountainous area in Transylvania, close to many touristic sites, such as: Deva Citadel; Hunedoara Castle; Sarmizegetusa site; Densus Church; Buffalo Reservation in Hateg; Jiu Gorges; Parang, Retezat and Valcan mountains. You can visit a lot of places, both natural and antropic during your stay with us and benefit from a flexible programme, from nice and hospitable people.

What an excelled trip! This was the first time that I had been to Romania and used workaway and it certainly did not disappoint. Anca looked after me from start to finish, she kept me in the loop before I got out to Romania via email and she was beyond thoughtful for the entirety of my trip. She is one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I… read more have met and the work which she is doing is brilliant. I was working in Petrosani at the day camp. I had not properly taught on my own before, however Anca was such a support that any nerves I may have had at the beginning were soon eliminated. She was great at being there when you needed advice and guidance as well as jointly leading the class. Her English is incredible and I sometimes found that I'd need to ask her questions about English spellings!! The teaching itself was very fun and the children were lovely, we had such a laugh with them and played lots of games and even created a play at the end, which was Anca's idea and was hilarious. The children ranged in age and were all very different, but the group just gelled and everyone got on and had their role to play in the dynamic of the group and it was such a great one. I felt very happy about the teaching as it was so enjoyable for us and hopefully the children too, but we could also see their English improve.

I stayed with Anca's friend Elena and her 15 year old daughter Andrea. They were such a fun and lovely pair and we had many a laugh. They were so welcoming and always thought about what I may need. I was fed incredibly well and tasted some of the best food I'd tasted before! The apartment is very homely and comfortable, Andrea's English is very good and she is great, so she was lovely company, she even took me to watch her Karate training once, which was awesome! Elena's English improved too and they even taught me some Romanian!! Petrosani itself is a small and great city, it is in a valley, surrounded by mountains and the views are breath-taking. Anca, Elena and Andrea were sure to show me what Petrosani had to offer, we went hiking, went to a cave, to the local parks, a mining museum, a Romanian museum in the countryside and I felt as though I really got to know the city. I also enjoyed running around the city and on the local running track. I got to meet Anca's family too who were absolutely lovely and her little niece was there too who was a bundle of fun and I loved playing with her.

I am now back home and am thinking fondly of the lovely people I met on my trip and the memories I have walked away with. I would definitely advise anyone to work with Anca out in Romania. I learnt a lot and had a lot of fun!

I have a lot to say so bear with me because it's worth the read: My experience teaching English through Anca's organization was the first time I had the opportunity to formally teach the language in a classroom setting. It was certainly a positive experience. Anca worked with me on the lesson plans and helped me form an image of how the classes… read more would go, allowing me the lead position for teaching while being supportive and informative during and in between classes. She printed props, bounced ideas back and forth, aided in classes for examples, and translated when necessary. The students were a lot of fun to work with, had plenty of energy and were transparent as to whether the lesson plan was as engaging and informative when executed as it looked on paper.
My accommodation was put together very quickly at a nearby student dorm, and Anca and her family made sure I was well fed and never missed a meal. I was fortunate enough to go skiing at the end of the season on the nearby mountain, went for walks in the adjacent hills, shared in the family's Easter feast, watched t.v. In romanian, played with Anca's niece, explored caves nearby, met very many friendly students (many of whom were Moldavian) and had plenty of opportunities to visit nearby towns and their respective tourist attractions (sarmisegetuza, Corvin's castle, the 3 sculptures in Târgu giu, Sibiu, etc.)
My timing was unexpected, but Anca and her sister, Iuliana, made good use of my time, which says something about their resourcefulness. Their ability to meet my needs and stay in close communication leading up to my arrival was very comforting and reassuring in my coming to Petrosani, and their ability to be flexible and communicative throughout my stay was very much appreciated-I cannot say enough about this. Anca is able to speak French, Dutch, Japanese, and maybe another language in addition to English and romanian. She loves languages and was supportive of me learning romanian and has an active interest in developing her knowledge and possibly in yours as well. Iuliana was very kind and invited me to swimming and evening walks and to meet and grab a drink with her friends in town. Her husband, Aurelian, is a very warm person with enthusiasm for being in nature, even more apparently so than Anca or her sister (not to say they aren't outdoorsy, just not so gun-ho(?) as Aurelian). Anca's parents are very polite as well and although they spoke almost zero romanian it was not hard to understand them. I'm not sure if you will have a chance to meet all of Anca's immediate family, but regardless this will be a worthwhile experience in its entirety, if you are open to it.
