  I live in a beautiful old house in the historic neighborhood of Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
  I'm German and I've lived in Brazil for over 35 years. I'm 63 years old, very well-disposed and I love taking care of the house and of my health. I love doing yoga, outdoor walks in Rio de Janeiro and working as a tour guide.

  Having lived in Brazil for over 35 years, I love sharing my knowledge of Brazilian culture, cuisine, language, and customs. I have experience teaching Portuguese to foreigners, so if you’re interested in learning or improving your Portuguese, I’d be happy to help. Since I am also a tour guide, I can provide great insights into the history, culture, and hidden gems of Rio de Janeiro and other parts of Brazil.
  Beyond that, I am passionate about fermented foods and homemade kombucha. I make my own kombucha at home and love exchanging recipes, tips, and experiences with others who are interested in fermentation and healthy living.
  In return, I am always eager to learn about different cultures, languages, and skills. This is a space where we can exchange ideas, stories, and experiences while working together in a meaningful and enjoyable way. If you’re looking for a welcoming environment where cultural exchange happens naturally, I would love to host you!

  I have a house, a backyard, and a garden, all of which offer different opportunities for travelers to contribute. There are always ways to help, whether through daily household tasks, general upkeep, or more specific maintenance projects. No special skills are required—anyone can contribute in some way—but if you do have experience in areas like gardening, restoration, or home improvement, your knowledge will be very welcome. The most important thing is having a positive attitude and a willingness to participate. I believe that everyone brings unique talents, and I welcome travelers who are enthusiastic, open-minded, and eager to contribute in a collaborative way. Whether you want to learn about sustainable living, historic architecture, or simply experience daily life in Brazil, this is a space for mutual learning and creativity.

  Unterkunft

  I offer a private room, with possibly a private or shared bathroom (in case of other guests). The room has a bed, closet and fan. And the person can also use the space in the next room, which has a table, chairs, hammock, etc.

  - Hiking & Nature: Explore the lush trails of Tijuca National Park, hike to Pedra Bonita, or visit the stunning Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar).
  - Cultural & Historical Sites: Discover the iconic Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor), explore the vibrant Escadaria Selarón, or visit the futuristic Museu do Amanhã.

  My home is located in Santa Teresa, one of Rio de Janeiro’s most charming and artistic neighborhoods. Known for its colonial mansions, narrow cobblestone streets, and bohemian atmosphere, Santa Teresa is a place full of history, art, and breathtaking views of the city.

  - The Santa Teresa Tram (Bonde de Santa Teresa): One of the last remaining streetcars in Brazil, offering a scenic ride through the hills of the neighborhood.
