  Beschreibung

  Hello! We are an American family based in Gunma, Japan. We have twin toddlers and are excited to welcome responsible travelers who can join us to help with various household chores: cleaning, cooking, childcare and yardwork. We don't have much free time these days, but still do our best to find time to cook meals, go on bike rides, and explore local hiking trails. It's always a joy to get to share unique cultural experiences with travelers from all over the world.
  
  Currently, we are seeking a traveler who can bring Mandarin language into our home. We prefer travelers who are looking to stay in Kiryu for 1-3 months (Mar - Jun 2026)
  
  We will only consider non-smoking/non-vaping volunteers. When you reach out to us, please confirm that you do not smoke or vape.

  We work in local travel and occasionally go to other places (within Gunma, Nagano, Tochigi, Hokkaido, etc) so there may be opportunities to join us on these trips if you are interested in experiencing different parts of Japan.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for a responsible individual/couple who can join us and help with following tasks:
  
  - cooking & food prep
  - washing dishes
  - cleaning the house/garage & taking out trash/recycling
  - laundry & sorting
  - playing with babies (games and language exchange - Mandarin Chinese)
  - weeding & yardwork
  
  Hours/days can be flexible and we will discuss a schedule that makes the most sense for both sides.

  Unterkunft

  Our family lives in a 3BR house. You will stay in a private room in our house or in our guesthouse nearby (10min bike ride). Your housing arrangement will be dependent on timing and whether we have visiting friends/family.
  
  Any meals that you choose to have with our family will be covered, but we are not available to cook. You are welcome to use the food we have at the house - rice, noodles, oatmeal, oils/spices, variety of veggies, etc.

  We're based in Gunma Prefecture, just 1.5hr direct express train from Tokyo. We live in a mid-size city with easy access to the mountains, rivers, and lakes. We love this area for its kind people, fresh air, and wonderful outdoor opportunities such as hiking and cycling. There are also excellent cafes, restaurants, supermarkets near our quiet neighborhood.

  3. Elaborate on your experience with childcare, particularly babies or toddlers.
