I spent two wonderful weeks with Anika and her family this March. From day one, everybody made me feel welcome and made it very easy to find a „home away from home“. I quickly got into the routine of cleaning the stables in the morning, and bringing the horses back in, feeding them and cleaning the paddocks in the afternoon. During my time there,
… read more there were other projects too, like some gardening, cleaning windows and other little tasks that needed doing on the farm – you can easily keep yourself busy, but there was also plenty of time to relax, go for a walk or watch the riding lessons.
I really enjoyed all the breakfasts with Anikas parents and their great anecdotes, the lunches and dinners with Anika and her family and all their laughter, the little chats with everyone coming to the farm, spending time outside, seeing the deer in the fields nearby, going for a walk in the beautiful surroundings, learning about farm life and working with the animals.
A very big THANK YOU to everyone that helped to create this unforgettable workaway experience for me and I can highly recommend it to everyone!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I stayed at Moorhof for 3 weeks and it was the best first workaway experience I could have!
The farm is located in a beautiful area surrounded by nature, there's deer, rabbits, hares and birds, lots of cycle/walking paths. It's close to Tornesch which has shops and a train station.
Moorhof is both a very good place to find peace and think about
… read more things but also to meet many people and learn. There's lots of horses on livery in the stables so there's plenty of people around, including the kids that come for lessons. This means the atmosphere is always lovely and everyone is welcoming.
My work was very fair. Every morning from 9am I'd muck out stables, there is usually someone to help. Lunch is 12 to 1pm. After lunch you have a break for maybe an hour and then I did tasks such as strimming, weeding, mowing the lawn, painting sealant on wood, etc. At 4pm you bring in the horses from paddocks to stables and feed them hay. Then after dinner there is often an opportunity to work with the horses, Anika taught me connected riding groundwork exercises and also let me ride a couple times and I am very grateful! She is extremely knowledgeable and you can learn a lot about horses from her.
Anika also let me participate in treks with the kids twice which I loved!
The horses are lovely, it is wonderful to meet them all and learn about their personalities. You can also chill with the bunnies or the dog, Fiete. It is an animal lover's paradise I think.
Evenings were always lovely, on one I picked blackberries and Anika made delicious jam with them, or on others I sat in the stable and listened to the horses while reading a book.
Some more info, you stay in Anika's parents' beautiful old house, and have breakfast with them. Angelika and Johannes are so lovely and welcoming and helpful, I am very grateful for all our breakfast chats in German and all they have taught me about the culture and Germany!
Thank you everyone for all the opportunities and good memories! 💛

My time at the Moorhof was short but nice. Thanks to all family members and colleagues at the Moorhof I could quickly learn what and how to do it and my workload was very fair. Also I felt comfortable with Anika and her family as well as sleeping in her parents house and having breakfast with them.
My work was mostly cleaning the different areas
… read more of the horses as well as getting the horses back in to their stables. On two days Johannes took me to take out some fallen trees out of the forest, that was a nice change in between all the Pferdeäppel :)

I stayed with the Moorhof-Family for three weeks in December. All of them, Angelika and Johannes, Anika and Björn, Mia and Leefke, were incredibly open and warm-hearted and made it so easy to connect with them and feel included and safe. Thus, I can highly recommend anyone going there.
I'm not gonna lie, the working days were hard and sometimes
… read more long, partly due to the muddy winter weather, which I was prepared for. Anika has an eye on everybody and I could tell she watched out that I wouldn't get too exhausted. Also, I never was asked to do anything she wouldn't do herself.
Nevertheless I had slightly different expectations before I went, so I'd like to "update the profile" in case Anika forgets it ;)
There are three generations on the farm, the kids are 13 and 10 years old. The farm has become much bigger recently with a new stable mainly for people to rent for their horses. I didn't count them, but there are around 30-40 horses and ponies in total, which I consider quite a lot, although there are of course much bigger farms. Cleaning and feeding, bringing horses outside and inside again takes up a big part of the day. I didn't expect to have that kind of routine, because I had thought of a smaller place, but as a plus that made it easy to know what to do after a short time.
All in all I enjoyed being outdoors and working physically, and having these wonderful people to learn from and all the cute animals to cuddle.
Bis hoffentlich bald mal! Liebe Grüße!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

This fall I had my first workaway experience at the Moorhof. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay 4 days as I developed a horse allergy (which I didn't know about before). Still, I had a wonderful time on the farm. The whole family was very welcoming and everyone on the farm was incredibly friendly! My job was mainly to clean up the stables and

Therefore: Thank you for the nice, unfortunately far too short time. I can highly recommend this place to anyone who is not allergic to horses ;)

My stay at the farm was one of the best times i had in my life. Anika and her family make you feel like you are part of the the family. Picking cherries (pick one, eat one!) was my favorite task, right after building fences. It felt so good to be in nature and do "real" work. I am already missing it :)
Hope to see you soon ;)

Anika is quiet spontaneous when it comes to work and the plan sometimes changes but that made the experience for me even more fun and exciting.
I had a great time here, so great that I ended up staying the whole summer. I will miss them lots. I can only recommend this Workaway experience.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I spent a great month at Anika´s beautiful horse farm. During my stay another Workawayer (Luis) where staying there as well and together with Anikas parents Angelika and Johannes (at which house I stayed) we had great talks and fun during breakfast and lunch. The days consisted out of taking care of the horses and cleaning the paddocs and stables.
… read more Further, because I had experience with children and horses and it was holiday time, I was able to help Anika with the holiday programm for children. It was a great experience and much fun to do that kind of project together with Anika and I learned a lot. On other days we had to build fences or do weeding. It´s impressive to see what a hard working person Anika is and how many ideas she has and realise. There is always work to do at Moorhof. With Anika work never gets boring, because from now and then the plan changes and you have to do something entirely different than planed.
Even if there was a lot of work, I had enough time to relax in the beautiful hammok and travel a bit around the area. For example I often visited a nearby lake or drove to the north sea or I got riding lessons from Anika, which I loved. Anika is teaching Conected Riding and I never heared about that before but now I want to learn more about it. One of the best things was my trip with their boat, together with Anikas husband Björn and their children, who are so nice and cool. I feel so lucky that they took me with them.
I highly recomend this Workaway experience to everyone who loves animals, nature and children, who is spontanious, indipentend and wants to have a great time with this lovely family, their horses and the opportunity to learn many things.
Once more I really want to give a big thank you for that amazing time to all of the people living there and I wish you all the best!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
