We are the parents of 3 great kids. Our children are 2 boys (15 and 6 years old) and a girl (14 years old).
We are looking for a workawayer who wants to join our family for at least 2 months and spend the time with us just as if she or he was part of the family.
We like to have a full house and to get to know people from all over the world. We used to travel a lot while we were students and found it exciting when we had the possibilty to stay at private houses. When we heard about workaway we thought it might be a good idea to offer other travelers to stay at our house.
Concerning the help in the household everyone at home is expected to help a little depending on his/her abilities/age. Everyone in our family (including the kids – even though they always try to discuss about that) is expected to help with the dishes/the kitchen/the cooking and help cleaning the dining room after the meals, help tidying up the kids´ rooms, tidying up one´s own room, help hanging the washing up etc.
Concerning your room and the bathroom we kindly ask you to clean it yourself about once a week
In order for the kids to get to know new people and to learn something about new culture you should be at home when they are at home. So your planned schedule for Vienna should match theirs:
They usually leave home at around 7am. They are picked up at 4:15pm. They go to school in downtown. You can meet them there on the way home which already gives you some possibility to get to know them. So during the day you will have plenty of time to see Vienna, the surroundings, to work or to take some German classes. On the weekends we most of the time go hiking into the woods. Sometimes we are leaving to go to other parts of Austria. You are welcome to join us.
Our youngest boy is 6 years old. He has just started with school. He'll be happy to talk to you, to play with you and to practice his english.
Our girl is 14 years old. Due to the school she chose she hardly ever comes home before 6:30pm. She is quite fluent in English and loves to get to know new people. She is very sportive, goes swimming and running.
Our eldest is a boy. He is 15 years old and comes home around 5pm every day. He goes to a school specialising in IT.
We do have a dog. She is called Luna and 4 years old. She is a very well trained family friendly dog.
Where we live
We live in the western part of Vienna in a house with a garden and right next to the Viennese forest but still . It is perfectly situated for those who want to live in the nature but still want to be in town pretty quick. By public transportation it takes you about 20 minutes to the center, for example the Mariahilferstraße (biggest shopping street in Vienna). It would be great if you loved to do sports in the nature as there are biking trails and hiking trails either along the Viennese river or in the forest.
You will have a room of about 20m2. The bathroom will mainly be used by you as it is the guest bathroom. Sometimes the little one is using it. The room is quiet, sunny and bright and you can see the trees of the garden.
Opposite to our house there is one of the train stations that take you either to the underground in 7 minutes or to the center in 17 minutes. Within walking distance there is a big shopping mall (600m away from the house).
All the kids are having lunch at school. So we have dinner together only in the evenings and on the weekends. It might be important for you to know that we don't cook everyday. You are free to use the kitchen whenever you want to. There is a rack in the fridge for your „private food“, so in case you buy something special for yourself. The kids know that this is yours.
I hope you understand that we don’t want to post photos of the kids on the profile. We can get to know each other by skype or whatsapp then you will see what they look like.
You will be part of our family. I think that´s the best way to learn about a new culture. If you are interested in learning german there are a lot of german classes offered in Vienna. By the way you will pick up a lot when you spend time with our family. Especially the 6 years old is very talkative.

The most important for us is that you want to spend time with our family. It would be great if you could pick up the kids from school and stay with us for dinner. These are the best times to talk to the kids and spend time with them. Another great opportunity to get to know our culture and for us to get to know you and your culture are the weekends.

The kids go to school specialising on languages. They have started to learn English, French and Latin so far. Except for the youngest one we are all fluent in English. The kids are beginners in French. We believe that the best way to learn a language is to speak to native speakers.

Vienna is the main capital of Austria. It has about 1,8 million inhabitants. It is a quite big city with green areas and a big forest in the surroundings and some parks in the center.
In case you want to take some german classes, we recommend the school in the 7th district called Deutsch Akademie. Just let us know if you need further information
