Looking for adventurers for the rest of the year!! We have our spring season of calving and many days of riding fast approaching! Although the month of July is already filled, we have many more opportunities for volunteers to experience our ranching lifestyle. Besides the calving season in April-June, there are brandings, rodeo, chuckwagon races and cattle drives to excite those interested in finding out more about the Western Lifestyle. April has some open beds and May is already nearly full! Interested in a summer visit? Send us an inquiry. We look forward to meeting many new friends in 2020.
By managing natural resources in an environmentally sustainable manner we provide for the needs of our family so that we have an opportunity to help others in the larger community.
We enjoy hosting volunteers from around the world and across the country, showing them rural Western Canadian hospitality and culture. We are a family owned and operated beef ranch and equestrian center. Our volunteers can help with our cow herd, horse training and general ranch maintenance in the ranching aspect of our venture. Volunteer help from our international visitors and local enthusiasts is always appreciated with our equine educational experiences.

We hope that we can offer you some unique experiences and opportunities to learn about Western Canadian culture and hospitality. We try to make sure that our volunteers get to do fun things nearly every day (something they enjoy--like riding, hiking, sky watching, photography), frequently while we are doing our everyday chores. We are also glad to help with English as a second language.
Those who volunteer with us help with many of the ranch chores as well as around the house. Volunteers help with feeding and caring for the animals in the yard, herding cattle, training horses, gardening, berry picking, painting, building and repairing fences and ranch buildings, cooking, baking, house cleaning and yard maintenance. We have experience with several European students doing internships. We do require a certain level of English competency from our helpers for their own safety. If you are learning about animals AND the English language at the same time, you can misunderstand our warning about an animal and find yourself in grave danger.
English, a bit of French, even smaller amounts of German
We accommodate our volunteers in the house year round and in the bunkhouse from April-October. We have 3 cats and this winter a cattle dog in the house. Animals are not usually allowed in the bunk house. Wireless internet in the house, no TV, but the neighbor (just across the yard) will allow you to watch with him.

Until 2018 our volunteers/helpers received a thank you card when they departed the ranch and if they were interested in finding employment I would agree to supplying a reference letter. When it came to my attention that Workaway was providing a very complete reference letter for Workawayers, with feedback from the different hosts, I immediately began providing a reference in this manner. Hence the sudden appearance of feedback for Workawayers in 2018 ;>)
