I volunteered for 1 week with Omar and had a great time. It was a perfect way to acclimatise and prepare for all the amazing hikes and climbs in Huaraz and practice my Spanish.

The daily tasks were simple - prepare breakfast for the guests and some cleaning. I had plenty of time after my shift each day to explore.

Omar has a quaint hostel on the NE side of town that attracts strong climbers from around the globe. My duties included serving breakfast and painting walls. Communication was mostly done through WhatsApp, and Omar is a climber himself and also considerate & flexible

I stayed a week and a half with Omar and it was wonderful! Omar is really kind and chill and helped me set up all the hikes I wanted to do. He allowed flexibility in the work schedule to go on treks and even took me bouldering with his friends and was so patient with my fear of heights, haha! Thanks, Omar! It was a great experience.

Omar is a great host, very friendly and helpful. The work was preparing breakfast and cleaning around all done in the morning, so we had a lot of free time to explore Huaraz.
