I can't describe how incredible Rahel, her family, the animals, and the whole experience was. I stayed with them for about 2 months and would return and visit in a heartbeat. While I was there the number of volunteers and people living in the house changed but the environment remained kind, comfortable, and lots of fun. In a typical day, I would

I experienced the warmer weather as well as the cold and throughout it all, the farm remained absolutely gorgeous. The horses were an absolute delight and Rahel was kind enough to let me ride which was such a fun and educating experience. Dear Laila
Thank you very much for coming to our farm. You were great.
Laila was with us for 10 weeks. After the usual familiarisation phase, Leila fulfilled her tasks very well and independently.
She enjoyed working with the horses and all the other animals and was very keen to learn new things.
She also helped in the garden with the apple

And learnt how to make preserves.
She always asked, ‘What can I help you with’?
A really very nice young woman and I can only recommend her highly.
Laila, I wish you all the best for your future.

I found them to be reliable and trustworthy, honest people, which allowed me to leave the house for some days at a time, knowing that everything was in good hands.
Communication between us was always clear and straightforward.
We had interesting conversations about many topics. They also got on very well with the other WorkaWays and during the long time that the family were here on our farm, we also got on very well and became friends.
I sincerely wish them good luck in life and more beautiful places to get to know.
We stayed with Rahel and her family for a total of almost 5 months!
Right from the beginning, we were integrated, and cared for, as a part of the family. Even now, 4 months after we left, we still feel a special connection to them, and maintaining good communication.
The work was around the farm and the house. 9 horses, 2 donkeys, a dog, several

Other tasks involved minor repairs, painting, cleaning of the house, walking the dog. During the springtime there was a lot of garden work as well – digging, planting, pruning apple trees and establishing a vegetable garden, and a lot of weeding.
The tasks were very straight forward, easy to understand. Most of the time, the work was on our own or with other workawayers, when Rahel join in occaisonaly.
The communication with Rahel was very clear and honest. Whenever difficulties arose we did our best to communicate it and to get to an understanding. It happened several times, and this what allowed us to stay there for a long period.
We always communicated around the food schedule, and we always managed to find the time to sit and eat together, usually followed by relaxed and interesting conversations.
We found Rahel to be, obviously, very devoted to her work around the farm, and that she expected everyone to be as devoted. Usually there was no fixed times for work and it's more of a flexible schedule, because, after all – it's a big farm and there's always something to be done…
All in all, we had a very profound-in depth experience, getting a glimpse into the life and we learned a lot from it. Thank you Rahel for your hospitality, help, and for being an inspiration to us. We with you and the family (including all the animals) the best of the best.

Cooking together and lots of conversation, with Rahel and other workawayers, gives a lot of oportunities of exchange experience and a feeling you are in family.
The house is nice and cozy in a beautiful landscape. It is really a lovely place that shows you animals can be raised free and together and live in closer contact to people. They really made a great work with this place. If you like animals you shouldn't miss this opportunity. I learnt a lot and had a great time with the people here taking care of horses, cats, dog, rabbit, chickens and ducks.
The horses are amazing, each one has its own personality, that you are able to know
better while working among them. You will learn a lot about behaviour on a herd just observing them and, after few days, allnof them can become closer to you. Right in the middle of the horses, I cannot forget to mention the sweetness of the donkeys. It was an amazing experience being with all of them.
The sweet 4 cats like to be cuddled and are adorable and friendly, as well as the rabbit.
I do not have words to describe Ava, the dog. You have a great scenario for a walk with Ava, if you like walking and take your time to get along with her in the walks.
I am definetly gonna miss them all.
I just have to thank everyone for this great experience. I am gonna miss this place a lot.Weitere Bilder

Bit of a delayed review, but I would like to state how incredible my time in July was here! I stayed for 5 weeks and was so sad to leave. … read more clearly very well looked after and loved.
It was so much fun to make jam from the freshly picked berries, take turns cooking our favourite dishes, and participating in the summer riding camp was a unique experience that I'll hold dearly forever. The communication barrier rarely caused any problems and it was so enjoyable learning things about a different culture. It was also clear right from the beginning what was expected of me, and everyone felt comfortable to talk about their needs and if something wasn't working. There was a lot of work to be done but the schedule was flexible and I appreciated that I could take a few days off to visit my friend in Switzerland. Everything felt really smooth like a well oiled machine, all parts working together, everyone playing their part in getting the work done whilst still having fun.
Lake Konstanz and Ravensburg and the surrounding areas are beautiful, perfect to explore on your time off! I highly recommend this WorkAway, if you love animals and gardening and the feeling of satisfaction after a good hard days work. I cherish the time I spent here and I honestly cannot wait to come back!
Thank you for having me Rahel <3

Vom Workawayer (Oliver) für Host
Dear Reader,
Where does one begin? There is such a positive experience to recount, but I shall try to keep it brief.
To give some context to my experience, I am a 29 year old male from New Zealand who generally likes being active, fixing things, and cooking / baking.
I stayed with Rahel and her family for three truly wonderful months. My
… read more experience was such that I left feeling connected to both the farm, the lovely people who live there, and naturally the animals.
The House:
The house is a beautiful and charming, with many a room to choose from depending on whether you want space or company. The kitchen is any food lover’s dream, with lots of working space and all the equipment you need. Eggs are fresh from the chickens not 20 metres from the house, and fresh fruit is picked seasonally from which jams and various cakes can be made.
The Village:
Judetenberg is small Village connected to the bigger City of Ravensburg, via bus, while locally there are two great lakes for swimming and general farming areas to explore. I found I was often happy to spend my free time staying at the farm because it is so relaxed and easy going.
The Work:
My work was a good mix of morning and evening feeds for the animals, cleaning the horse stall, and general farm work / woodwork. If you enjoy being outdoors and around animals Rahel's place is 100% a good fit for you, anyone of a basic fitness level will be able to get stuck in and be comfortable. Naturally if you are a rider / have experience with horses you may get more from this opportunity, but as someone with no experience with horses I found I very quickly became comfortable working with them. By the end of my stay, I really got to know each horse, their personality, and what made them tick. Also, I learnt about grooming, a little bit of hoof care, and began my journey of learning to ride.
The People:
Perhaps the best aspect of my stay (or perhaps equal to only the animals, namely the horses) was the great people. Rahel and her family are fantastic, they truly welcome you into their home and lives and you'll have lots of opportunity to make connections. The children have a great group of friends too so there's often something happening at the house. Everyone speaks both English and German too so there's opportunity to practise one or both should you wish.
What more to say?
Perhaps there is just one question to be asked to summarise my experience, that is, would I go back and do it all again?
To which I wholeheartedly say YES. I would without hesitation go back again, in fact I hope to when I come back to Europe.Dieser Workawayer hat sich dafür entschieden, sein Profil privat zu schalten, kann aber von anderen Workawayern bezüglich dieses Feedbacks kontaktiert werden.

We stayed at Rahels amazing farm for 18 very nice days.
During this time we were a part of the everyday life around her farm.
The work routine was cleaning the horse stables and feeding the horses 2 times a day and taking care of all the other animals. But mostly around the horses.
We came to this place and had never worked with horses before,
… read more but this was not a problem.
The day we came we got a very nice and warm welcome and were a part of the family from the second we arrived.
Every day we had dinner together with the family, got some nice chats and learned to know each other and told our different stories.
A super open house where there is space for everyone and everyone is welcome.
We were so happy for the experience to come and work at this special place. To get the experience to work with horses and learn how beautiful creatures they are and everyone of them are different was one of the nicest experiences from someone there who didn't know anything about horses beforehand. It was a total meditation experience for us to work around them and we would love to do it again.
To everyone there likes to work with horses or would like to try, like to do some gardening, or every other task they could come up with around the farm, cuddle with cats or with their dog Ava, be a part of an open family and share stories and different cultures - please don't hesitate to write a message to Rahel!
Thank you for everything and we are already looking forward to seeing and visiting you again.
