🌿 Live on a First Nations Ranch in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
Experience authentic Canadian First Nations reservation living while becoming part of our family.
Hi! We’re a welcoming family living on a peaceful ranch on First Nations land in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. We’re looking for someone who wants more than just a place to stay—we’re looking for someone who’d like to become part of our family for a little while.
If you enjoy children, love animals, appreciate nature, and are looking for a meaningful cultural exchange, we’d love to hear from you.
This isn’t a luxury resort—it’s authentic Canadian First Nations reservation living. Life here is filled with horses, children playing outside, campfires, fresh air, beautiful sunsets, and a slower pace that’s becoming harder to find.
We love meeting people from around the world and learning about different cultures. Some of our favourite evenings are spent around the campfire sharing stories, laughter, and meals together.
Our goal is to create a peaceful, healing environment where children, animals, and people from around the world can all feel safe, welcomed, respected, and valued.
⸻
❤️ Who We’re Looking For
We’re hoping to welcome someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with young children and is happy becoming another caring adult in their lives.
Our little ones are 2 and 5 years old. They love being outdoors, reading books, doing crafts, exploring, playing games, and going on adventures.
Because consistency is important for children, we’re especially interested in volunteers who can stay one month or longer, and we’d absolutely love to find someone interested in staying throughout the fall and winter if it’s the right fit.
Whether you’re taking a gap year, studying early childhood education, social work, psychology, nursing, veterinary medicine, or simply looking for an unforgettable Canadian experience, you may be a perfect fit.
⸻
🌿 What You’ll Help With
Your days will vary, but may include:
• Playing with the children and helping with daily routines
• Preparing simple meals
• Light household cleaning and keeping shared spaces tidy
• Seasonal outdoor projects
• Gardening and landscaping
• Feeding horses and helping care for other animals
• Assisting with projects around the property
We all work together as a family and value kindness, flexibility, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
⸻
🏡 Your Accommodation
You’ll stay in our volunteer cabin with bunk beds.
Our property is off-grid, offering a peaceful escape from busy city life while still providing the essentials for a comfortable stay.
We now have:
• Electricity
• Wi-Fi
• Volunteer cabin
• Outdoor shower
• Outhouse
• Kitchen for preparing meals
Life here is simple rather than luxurious, and many volunteers tell us that’s exactly what makes the experience so memorable.
⸻
🐴 What Makes This Experience Special?
✨ Live on beautiful First Nations land.
✨ Experience authentic Canadian First Nations reservation living.
✨ Spend time with horses and other animals.
✨ Learn about Indigenous culture, traditions, and community.
✨ Escape busy city life and reconnect with nature.
✨ Become part of a welcoming family.
✨ Create memories and friendships that last long after your stay.
⸻
🌲 Enjoy Your Free Time
There’s plenty to enjoy when you’re off the clock.
Spend time with our horses, relax with the animals, enjoy a campfire beneath a sky full of stars, or simply unwind in the peaceful countryside.
We’re close to several beautiful conservation areas filled with forests, rivers, hiking trails, wildlife, and endless opportunities for nature-filled adventures throughout every season.
Autumn brings Ontario’s incredible fall colours, while winter offers the classic Canadian experience with snow-covered forests, crisp fresh air, and cozy evenings around the fire.
If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding, Boler Mountain in nearby London is only a short drive away and offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and other winter activities.
If you’re lucky, you may even witness one of nature’s most incredible displays. The Northern Lights occasionally appear over our property, creating an unforgettable experience for those here at just the right time.
Whether you enjoy hiking, photography, horseback riding, wildlife, or simply slowing down and reconnecting with nature, there’s always something to explore.
⸻
🍲 Food
We’ll provide basic groceries for shared meals and everyday cooking.
If you have specific dietary needs, allergies, or favourite foods, you’re more than welcome to bring your own groceries. We’ll happily provide space for you to store your food and prepare meals that suit your preferences.
⸻
🌎 Our Home
Our home is a safe, welcoming, family-oriented environment where respect for one another, the land, and Indigenous culture is important.
We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of family life—not just exchange hours for accommodation.
Many volunteers leave here as lifelong friends.
⸻
🚭 Important Information
Because young children live here and this is a sacred space, we have a zero-tolerance policy for smoking, vaping, alcohol, marijuana, or recreational drugs anywhere on the property.
Anyone who chooses not to respect these expectations will be asked to leave immediately.
Applicants should be comfortable with both children and animals.
We do not provide letters supporting visa applications.
⸻
💌 We’d Love to Hear From You!
If this sounds like the adventure you’re looking for, please send us:
• Your preferred arrival and departure dates
• A little about yourself
• Your age
• Your experience with children and/or animals
• Your English level
• Why you’d like to stay with our family
We especially enjoy hosting volunteers who are looking for a longer stay and who are excited to truly become part of family life.
If our lifestyle resonates with you, we’d love to hear your story and hopefully welcome you to our little corner of Canada! -
