Beschreibung
Help me care for a primitive, off-grid home in Northern Italy in a multicultural team of 4-8 people.
IMPORTANT: ONLY from the 20th to the 27th of July 2025.
I live here part-time enjoying a simple-living, nature-connected and down-to-earth kind of lifestyle.
I wish to share that lifestyle with others. And I could use some help with the house and garden. 😉
I am a 53-year old woman from Denmark. I run a consultancy company in Denmark (part time)
My children at 27 and 29 come here often.
So does my friends and family.
But I also love the solitude and the simple life ❤️.
And of course I am deeply in love with the Italian people, nature and food.
This I wish to share too. And give people the opportunity to feel connected through work and basic, daily life.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

I will put together a multicultural team, if possible.
You will learn about a off-grid, primitive, self-supplying lifestyle. And get to know the locals in the little village: wonderful, welcoming people. And of course learn some Italian: the local teacher can teach the group som basic language skills, if you wish.
You will also meet and interact with the locals. We’ll be arranging ‘apperitivo’ and dinner together with them.Arbeit
The workcamp is from the 20th to the 27th of July 2025. I prefer if you can stay the whole week. No other weeks.
THE HOUSE
I restore and live part-time in a stone house with a fantastic view over Lake Como in Northern Italy. There is no communal water, gas, sewage system, electricity or road acces. So we:
- collect rain water, filter it and use it for drinking and cooking. Non-filtered rainwater is used for shower, toiletflush and handwash.
- get electricity from a solar panel (only enough for cellphones, computers and lights).
- carry all goods 15 minutes uphill
- use the ancient cave as fridge.

The text is in Danish, but there are lots of pictures.
Or I'll send you the link for some youtube videos.
THE HELP
The garden and woods surrounding the house needs some care: chopping wood for the fireplace, carrying wood and branches, cutting down small trees, establishing a kitchen garden.
None of the tasks needs special skills. It is rather plain manual tasks, but as it is in the mountains and the ground is steep, it includes some cardio training 😉. Some of the tasks include some heavy lifting or digging - for those who like some outdoor workout/gym/crossfit. ;-)
Some of the days you’ll help Roberta, a local woman, with carrying her fire wood down the hill and store it - she will make us a lovely Italien lunch in return.
You will help approximately 4 -5 hours a day, 5 days a week, so you still have time to enjoy the beautiful area.
I have no car, so expect som lovely hiking in the beautiful surroundings for 40 - 60 minutes, when you go shopping, to a bar, go for a swim in the lake ect.Gesprochene Sprachen

ACCOMODATION
The accommodation is simple:
You will sleep in a common outdoor’ish dorm (see picture of low room with wooden floor). The room is like an attic, with mesh door or windows. The wooden roof and wooden floor is new.
The accomodation is mixed gender.
There will be regular, good beds for everyone with good mattresses.
Bring your own sleeping bag. Sheets are provided.
As the dorm/attic is very low, - only 1,20 meter at its heights - you will keep your luggage just outside in a covered 'walk-out-closet'. See the two photos of the dorm and the 'luggage room'
I rely that you are comfortable with the mixed gender accommodation and the fact that it requires a certain discretion and respect for each other's privacy.
This accomodation is rather untraditional and simple and difficult to describe, so please write me for a video, where you can get a better impression, if you like.
Possible to pitch also to pitch your own tent. Bring sleepingmats.
(Write me if you wish to pitch your own tent as the squaremeters of flat ground is limited - we are in the mountains ;-)
TOILET AND SHOWER
Regular toilet with 'manual flush' (water in a basket is used to flush the toilet) The toilet is located in the house and your dorm is 20 meter away from the house, so if you need to go to the toilet during the noght, you eighter go to the house (bring an head torch) or you pee in the woods 😉
Outdoor shower with sun-heated water in a simple, outdoor shielding, where you can shower with privacy.
Outdoor handwashing.
We eat all our meals together on the terrace with great view to mountains and lake.
Vegan and vegetarian is of course possible.
EVERYDAY LIVING IN AN OFF-GRID HOUSE
In an off-grid house like this, there is a lot of manual jobs to be done every day.
We share these jobs and take daily turns on:
- Water: carrying water from the watertank in the basement and filtering it, so the filtatration is always running and we will have enough water.
- Shower: filling the outdoor shower bags with water, for the water to heat in the sun during the day, so everybody can have a hot shower in the evening.
- Supplies: carrying food and other supplies up the mountain-path.
- Washing up: heating water and washing up by hand)
- Bread; making a dough in the evening, baking bread in the wood-stove in the morning
- Food: assisting me on preparing food.
DAILY ROUTINE
This will be our daily routine:
- Breakfast at 8
- Work from 9 to 13
- Break at 11 with freshly baked bread.
- Lunch at 13
- Sparetime until dinner, where you can relax, go for a hike, walk to the lake to have a drink and a swim. In this period I need to have the house and terrasse for myself, and you have a designated area with hammocks and chairs for you to use.
- Dinner at 20
- Peace and quiet at 23.Was noch ...
What to do in your spare time:
Visit all the picturesque villages at the lake: Varenna (5 km), Bellagio, Menaggio, Como. Hike in the mountains or rent a e-bike to explore the area. Or just go for a swim and a drink.
It is an hour walk down to the lake. You can take a bus or a taxi back up (approximately 17 €) + 15 minutes of walking alone the small mountain path.
I love to walk the BEAUTIFUL path to either Bellano or Varenna to do some shopping, work online at my favourite bar, do some laundry, have a swim.. and grab a taxi back to Gisazio, the small village just 600 from the house.
Or I get Italian classes or hang out for an ‘aperitivo’ with the locals in Gisazio.
Arriving:
Arriving by train: head for Varenna-Esino. 5 km from the house. And arrange for the taxi (17€) or walk the 300 height meters up.
Arriving by plane: Any Milan or Bergamo airport is fine. Train to Varenna-Esino from there and 10 minutes of taxiEtwas mehr Information
