Welcome! Our 200-acre biodynamic farm is owned and operated by the family, mainly Aric, and his mother, Kathryn. We have a small herd of purebred Scottish Highland Cattle, a flock of heritage chickens, a large garden plot, a greenhouse, a small orchard and a large raspberry patch.

We believe that regenerative farming and community building is the best way to live with a net positive contribution to the planet. In our ever-evolving journey in self sufficiency, our purpose is to leave something of value behind for future generations. It is our hope and dream that not only our children and grandchildren will continue on where we leave off, but that we will inspire others to enter into a deeper and healthier relationship with their own land. What we do today is the footprint we leave for tomorrow.

We have a First Nations heritage and work with the Indian Agriculture Program of Ontario working with traditional plantings of corn, beans, and squash, as well as seed saving.

We attend two farmers markets in Toronto on Saturdays and operate a small CSA program to local customers. Throughout the growing season we also make preserves which are sold at our farmers markets, to our CSA members and at the farmgate.

We are a living and working school of life skills. Here, we are all teachers and students simultaneously. Our goal is to have a positive and influential impact on the environment by practicing restorative agriculture, through biodynamic and other methods that contribute to soil vitality.

Our weeds are tall, our roots are deep, our cattle are hairy, and our hearts are big. Come experience this rough and resourceful kind of life with us! It's an exciting time in history to be alive and on a farm.

With the new addition to our farm of the learning centre, you will be included in any workshops, seminars or educational experiences that are offered during the course of your stay. It is our hope to not only offer our own knowledge and wisdom, but that of experts in specific fields of restorative agriculture that we hope to attract.

During your stay it is very likely you will meet other workawayers and farm helpers from around the world. Although we only speak English ourselves, we are happy to help you learn English while you are here. We love meeting new people and learning about the places from which they come!

Our farm comprises 200 acres, of which half is in agricultural fields and the other in mixed forest. We have been farming in the biodynamic traditions since 2006, and have been Demeter certified since 2008. We partake in the Ontario Forestry Stewardship program and are continually working to revitalize the health and wellbeing of our forest, since it was logged heavily by previous owners.

The old farmhouse is off-grid and we are working towards bringing the rest of the farm operation off-grid as well.

Day to day the help changes in accordance with the season. Helping on our farm gives everyone the opportunity to learn the basics principles of biodynamic and restorative agriculture in a setting using machinery and mostly physical hands on tasks to get the work done.

Daily chores can mean many things, some of them including:
    - caring for chickens, dogs, cats, and cattle if you are up to it
    - building and maintaining fence lines
    - rock picking, staking plants, pruning and thinning, composting
    - spring & fall cleaning of garden plots
    - irrigation system; watering; putting out in spring; pulling off fields in fall
    - garden planting, weeding and harvesting
    - helping in the greenhouse, seeding, planting, watering
    - putting up hay
    - assisting with chopping wood, chipping brush and stacking wood

We expect guests to participate in daily activities and help for an average of 5 hours a day, 5 days a week depending on the season, with a few hours working alone as well as time with us. There is a lot to learn and we love teaching, and learning.

During the season we will also be working closely with another farm where we grow our three sisters garden with corn, beans and squash. Aric also takes the hay off their fields. One of our helpers lives on this farm with her mother. In 2019 she set up a Slovenian-style AZ beehive house, which you are welcome to visit during your stay with us.

In your free time, we encourage you to enjoy the nearby river and conservation areas, the interesting hamlets, artisan galleries, theatre and other cultural attractions in the area. Having your own vehicle to go exploring will make your stay more worthwhile, as there is no public transit. We go to town occasionally, but not for the purpose of site-seeing. We do participate in a number of events throughout the year, and you are welcome to tag along. We occasionally have potlucks by the river and bonfires with friends. We live in a beautiful area with ample opportunity for time alone, or with friends, in the great outdoors.
