Beautiful green Cantabria is calling!
Our little corner of the earth is rustic and cozy in a small hamlet amidst the Cantabrian Cordillera, situated just 1/2 an hour from the coast and its beautiful beaches, and one hour to both Bilbao and Santander. We rebuilt this stone and timber house from a 300 year old crumbling ruin.
We are a small family, Jasmine is Canadian and Javi is Spanish/Basque, and we have a 13 year old son, Emeric. Two mares, 1 lovely sheep dog, a friendly cat, and a few chickens round out our small clan.
We always have a few projects we´d like to tackle and if you would like to come and give us a hand we´d really appreciate it.
Right at the moment we're looking for a family, couple, individual, who would like to help take care of the animals while we are away visiting our family in Canada.
There´s much to explore in the area. Come and enjoy the plethora of hiking trails, caves, rockclimbing, via ferrata, and beaches and soak up the country life in northern rural spain.

¡Hola! Estamos buscando personas de confianza para cuidar nuestra casa y animales mientras nos encontramos de vacaciones. Vivimos en una hermosa casa de piedra en el monte, en un pequeño barrio de Cantabria, rodeados de naturaleza y tranquilidad. Nuestro hogar es bioclimático, fresco en verano y acogedor durante todo el año.
Tenemos dos yeguas, una árabe y una cuarto de milla, que son muy amigables y viven libremente en los prados cercanos. Requieren poca atención ya que disfrutan de su entorno natural. Nuestra zona es conocida por sus bonitos paseos, cuevas, vías ferratas y la impresionante costa a solo 20 minutos, que es salvaje, hermosa y poco concurrida.
La casa ofrece vistas increíbles a las montañas y ha sido construida de manera sostenible, respetando al máximo el entorno natural. We can offer a mixed cultural experience, european and canadian. Lots of time outdoors, delicious food. When the weather is nice we sometimes head to the beach in the afternoon. A chance to brush up on your english or spanish, learn about horses, gardening, food preserving....
Arbeit
There are many opportunities around here both indoors and out. On our property we have fruit trees and a vegetable garden, there´s landscaping work to be done and a few heavier projects we´d love some help with.

For house-sits the entire house is available. For Workaway stays we have a private room, shared bathroom (guest bathroom/powder room) also a motorhome parked out under the trees for a family.

I (Paul) walked every day to the house to help with the dogs, horses, and chickens.
In the evening we cooked the diner together.
We had a very lovely 2 weeks with Jasmine and Emeric, Javi was away to Germany.
