  Hello :) Our names are Britt (54) and Pål (56) and we run a sheep farm with 550 sheep in northern Norway. In the middle of the midnight sun region 🌞The farm is located in Troms county, in Salangen municipality. If you look at the map, you will see that it is halfway between Tromsø, Narvik and Harstad.
  
  In Salangen municipality, we have 2,200 inhabitants and several of us operate in the primary industry at sea and on land. We have beautiful nature around us, with opportunities for walks in the mountains and fishing.
  
  Britt is concerned with the further processing of the farm's resources such as wool, leather, meat, berries etc. and participates in markets in the area. In addition, she has a horse and a dog. Pål is primarily with the sheep.
  
  We have several farm buildings on the farm. We have a barn and 2 halls where we have sheep outside. Here you will find old Norwegian sheep breeds. We have Old Norse games, colored games and white games. We also have a few Norwegian white sheep. We have chosen to focus on the Old Norwegian sheep breeds because we feel that they have good qualities as mother sheep and that both the wool, leather and meat are unique. We also have a barn with regular indoor operation. There you will find Norwegian white sheep and fur sheep.
  
  On the farm we otherwise have 4 shepherd dogs. Pål's son, 25, also works on the farm and lives in his own home nearby. From time to time we also have our own children and grandchildren visiting.
  
  Sjøvegan is our nearest town. Here you will find shops and a doctor. Setermoen is also a nearby town with restaurants, shops and otherwise most of what you might need on a daily basis. In the summer, there are a number of fairs and festivals in the area, if you are interested in such.
  
  Since 2018, we have regularly had guests from several countries in Europe. Primarily pupils or students from agricultural courses, but also others who have wanted to come to Norway and work in agriculture. We have many good experiences with this. On our farm there are rooms for overnight stays.If you want to bring a motorhome/campervan, there is room for it. You can find the farm on Facebook if you search for .   Hei :) Vi heter Britt (54) og Pål (56) og driver et sauebruk på 550 sau i Nord Norge. Midt i midnattssolenes landsdel🌞Gården ligger i Troms fylke, i Salangen kommune. Om du ser på kartet, ser du at det er midt mellom Tromsø, Narvik og Harstad. I Salangen kommune er vi 2200 innbyggere og flere av oss driver i primærnæringen til havs og til lands. Vi har nydelig natur rundt oss, med mulighet for gåturer i fjellet og fiske.
  Britt er opptatt av videreforedling av gårdens ressurser som ull, skinn, kjøtt, bær o.l og deltar på markeder i området. I tillegg har hun hest og hund. Pål er primært sammen med sauene.
  
  På gården har vi flere driftsbygninger. Vi har en fjøs og 2 haller der vi har sauer på utegang. Her finner du gammelnorske saueraser. Vi har gammelnorsk spel, farga spel og kvit spel. Vi har også noen få norske hvite sauer. Vi har valgt å satse på de gammelnorske sauerasene fordi vi opplever at de har gode kvaliteter som morsauer og at både ull, skinn og kjøtt er unikt. Vi har også en fjøs med vanlig innedrift. Der finner du norsk hvit sau og pelssauer.
  
  På gården ellers har vi 4 gjeterhunder. Pål sin sønn på 25 arbeider også på gården og bor i egen bolig i nærheten. Tidvis har vi også egne barn og barnebarn på besøk.
  Sjøvegan er vårt nærmeste tettsted. Her finner du butikker og lege. Setermoen er også et tettsted i nærheten med restauranter, butikker og ellers det meste en måtte trenge i det daglige. Om sommeren er det en rekke messer og festivaler i området, om man er interessert i slik.
  
  Siden 2018 har vi jevnt hatt arbeidene gjester fra flere land i Europa. Primært elever eller studenter fra landbruksutdanninger, men også andre som har ønsket seg til Norge og for å arbeide med landbruk. Vi har mange fine opplevelser med dette.
  På gården hos oss finnes rom for overnatting. Om du ønsker å ha med bobil/campingvogn, er det plass til det.

  Arbeit

  In the period April-June, lambing is the main area of work. Then we are with the sheep mostly around the clock in shifts.
  In June-September, the focus is on spring harvesting, mowing, fencing, clearing of pastures, maintenance of buildings, etc.
  Sept-Nov, sheep from the surrounding mountains.
  Feeding and care of the animals that are down Nov-April mating, farm work, carpentry, shearing of sheep, feeding and care of the animals
  
  We hope to get started with a farm shop/production premises project during the year and would need handyman help here . We expect you to be positive, self-motivated, willing to learn and not afraid to take the plunge.
  
  We pay the minimum rate according to the tariff for 4-5 hours of work per day. If you wish, you can work longer some days and take other days off. We are flexible about this.
  
  I perioden april-juni er lamming det store arbeidsområdet. Da er vi med sauene stort sett hele døgnet på skift.
  I juni-sept er fokus våronn, slått, gjerding, rydding av beiter, vedlikehold av bygninger o.l
  Sept-nov sank av sauer fra fjellene rundt. Foring og stell av de dyrene som er nede

  Vi håper og komme i gang med et gårdsbutikk/produksjonslokale prosjekt i løpet av året og vil her ha behov for håndverkerhjelp.
  Vi forventer at du er positiv, selvgående, lærevillig og ikke redd for å ta i ett tak. Vi betaler minimumssats etter tariff for 4-5 timers arbeid for dag. Om du ønsker kan du arbeide lengre noe dager og ta fri andre dager. Vi er fleksible på dette.
