[Title: My Garden is Always 'Under Construction': Seeking Global Friends in Tongyeong]
"Help together for half a day, explore freely for the rest, and enjoy weekends like a local."
Hello! I am an economist based in Seoul, and I have a second house in Tongyeong and a farm on Yokji Island. I love animals, cooking, and nature. In six months, a new museum and concert hall will open just 3 meters away from my house in Tongyeong. My goal is to create a special garden that blends perfectly with this artistic space. Also, I am rebuilding my farm on Yokji Island to create a "Treehouse Village" where goats, sheep, chickens, and rabbits can play. I dream of working on my laptop inside the treehouse while looking out at the ocean.
With my loyal partner and official project supervisor, my border collie 'Choco,' I am looking for friends with an artistic eye to help me complete this garden.
🤝 Who I am looking for ?
I am planning to build a team of about 4 people for this project. To maximize the team's diversity, I prefer individual travelers from various countries rather than couples. I believe that when people from different backgrounds come together and interact with me, we can create a much richer cultural exchange and build deeper bonds.
Art & Design: Someone with an artistic eye to help me create my 'Global Lantern Garden.'
Cooking: Someone who can teach me recipes like Mexican tacos, Italian pizza, Texas BBQ, various pies, home baking, or Japanese udon. I will also teach you how to make various Korean dishes.
Building & Repair: Someone skilled in woodwork or fixing houses to help build the 'Treehouse Village' and repair the farm house.
🎁 My Special Program: Deep-Dive into Korea
During your stay, I will support you to understand Korea deeply through a [Learn -> Experience -> Review] method:
Daily 1-Hour Lecture: I will personally teach you about Korean language, culture, economy, and business.
Week 1 (Basics): Learn Korean grammar and the foundations of Korean culture.
Week 2 (Field Trip): Visit local markets to practice speaking with vendors.
Week 3 (Practice): Learn how to order at restaurants and have real conversations with locals.
You will learn during the day, and we will review and discuss it at dinner, which is the fastest way to master Korean culture.
Learning with Choco: Try giving commands in Korean to Choco! If your pronunciation is perfect, she will follow with wag her tail. If not, she will tilt her head and look at you.
Animal Psychology Training: I will teach you my dog training methods. My dogs have appeared on national TV as 'genius dogs,' and my YouTube channel,"border collie Mickey and choco" reached 1 million views in just 3 months. (It is currently on hold as I am very busy.)
Cooking Exchange: Every evening, we will share and cook food from each other's countries.
📅 Daily Life & Weekend Guide (3-4 weeks preferred)
[Special Benefit] Experience both the city and the island: You have a rare opportunity to enjoy the vibrant city of Tongyeong and the beautiful island of Yokjido in one place.
Half-Day Project: We work together for about 5 hours on gardening, making lanterns, building the treehouse, or fixing the farm.
Free Time & Weekends: The rest of the time is yours!
Travel: I will guide you to hidden gems like island tours, fishing spots, and secret beaches.
Budget Tips: I will teach you how to travel around Korea on a budget, getting the most out of every trip. Enjoy riding electric bikes along the coast and fresh seafood parties.
Accommodation: A comfortable room in Tongyeong (with fast Wi-Fi) .
💌 A Message to Future Friends
My experience as a graduate student in the U.S. living with housemates from all over the world is one of my greatest assets. Just as I was treated well by others, I want to treat you like family. And when I visit your country in the future, I hope we can meet again and treat each other, just as we did here. I am looking forward to sharing Korean culture with you and building a wonderful future with you! -

Unterkunft
Accommodation & Meals
You’ll stay in a clean, comfortable private or shared room (1–2 people per room) with heating, air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi.
We always share meals together like friend— and sometimes local neighbors or friends drop by to eat with us, too.
It’s a warm and friendly home environment, not a workplace.
You’ll have your own quiet time to rest, and we often enjoy good food and conversation together in the evenings.
There, you can experience fishing, kayaking, or simply relax and enjoy peaceful island life surrounded by nature. -
Was noch ...
On your days off, you can explore Tongyeong by riding my e-bike and visiting local markets, hidden alleys, and seaside cafés.
You can also walk along the beach with my friendly border collie and enjoy the peaceful harbor view.
Sometimes we take short ferry trips to nearby islands or visit my second project on Yokji Island.
Life here is quiet and warm — we cook, talk, and share stories with local neighbors and travelers.
Please keep the place tidy and respect others’ space, just like a family home. -

Kann Digital Nomads unterbringen
The house has a strong Wi-Fi connection and several quiet spots to work — you can use the living room, terrace, or garden area depending on the weather. Many digital nomads enjoy working here in the morning and joining our cooking or cultural activities in the afternoon. The environment is peaceful, surrounded by trees, sea breeze, and birdsong, making it easy to focus and relax at the same time.
