  Beschreibung

  My name is Véronique, and my husband is Pascal. We have 3 children. François is 25 and is no longer at home. Thibault is 20, he is just back from an 8-month-trip through South East Asia where he volunteered a lot as a workawayer. Gabriel is 11, he wants to work in the army ! Pascal works as a fireman, and myself as a naturopath.
  We live in the countryside, in a small village. we have a huge yard, in which we grow vegetables and trees. We own 3 cats and 5 chickens. Our life is very much linked to nature in most ways.
  
  Vierset-Barse is a quiet village. There is a baker's, a butcher's, a chemist's, a small but quite famous bar where live bands perform every week. There is also a supermarket 3km away.
  Our region is made of hilly landscapes, very nice if you like hiking and enjoying nature. Pascal and Gabriel like climbing and they can show you ,(kayaking is also possible during spring- summer).
  
  Huy is only 10 minutes drive. You can also commute (but few busses per day) . It is a cute small town. Other cities like Liège or Namur are about 30 minutes drive.
  From Huy train station you can reach Liège or Namur (25 min), Maastricht (1h), Brussels (1h45), Lille (2h), Antwerp and Ghent (2h), Brugge (2h30), ...
  
  We are very social, and love to meet people from other countries. We are willing to guide you during your free time. We can occasionnaly show you around or bring you to Huy station.

  Je m'appelle Véronique. Mon mari , Pascal. Nous avons 3 enfants. François a 25 ans et ne vit plus avec nous. Thibault a 20 ans, et Gabriel 11 ans. Pascal est sapeur-pompier et je suis naturopathe. Nous vivons à la campagne dans une maison en retrait du village de Vierset-Barse. Nous avons 3 chats et 7 poules, un grand terrain et potager. Notre priorité est le respect du vivant sous toutes ses formes.
  
  Le village de Vierset Barse est calme, et en dehors des grands axes, sans en être très loin. Vous y trouvez une boulangerie, boucherie et pharmacie.
  Le Condroz liégeois est verdoyant, et vallonné, vous offrant des belles ballades entre tiges et chavées. Les Ardennes sont à portée de voiture.
  10 minutes nous séparent de Huy, 20 minutes de Marche en Famenne, 35 minutes de Durbuy, Liège ou de Namur. De la gare de Huy, il est facile de rejoindre les grandes villes du pays: Bruxelles, Gent, Brugge Anvers, etc...mais aussi Maastricht, Lille, Aachen et bien d'autres.
  
  Nous sommes sociables et curieux de nature, et aimons rencontrer des personnes d'autres cultures. Nous nous ferons un plaisir de conseiller ou accompagner les volontaires selon leurs envies d'escapades dans la mesure de nos capacités.

  We like to share opinions , discuss about all or nothing (politics, ecology, cutlure, nature, education, science,...), and about a better world to build! We are involved in different local group/projets, and therefore we regularily meet people.
  We know our region quite well and like to share info related to our culture,

  Nous sommes engagés( faisant partie de divers collectifs locaux aussi) et aimons discuter de l'actualité, du monde à réinventer,... Nous connaissons bien notre région, ses ballades, les Ardennes proches, les lieux à visiter. Nous parlons anglais et nous débrouillons en néerlandais. Nous cuisinons local et de saison. Le village possède un super petit pub' Les 2 🐻 Ours' avec une offre de breuvages locaux et de concerts soigneusement sélectionnés.

  Arbeit

  We need help with the arrangement of a shed in the garden, This includes woodwork, tidying, building organic toilets, and maybe also technical jobs like setting solar equipment for a shower etc... Pascal is the handyman, but his work is keeping him busy most of the time. I would need someone who likes manual tasks to make this projet move forward (under Pascal's supervision ;-).
  We may also ask for help in the maintenance of the house such as: cutting wood, painting, tidying, or other manual chores)

  Nous avons le souhait d'aménager notre grand terrain en vue d'accueillir nos amis de passage.
  Nous aurions besoin d'aide pour fabriquer une toilette sèche, et aménager une cabane de jardin de manière à créer un espace pratique et convivial au bout du jardin. Pascal est bricoleur, mais son boulot de pompier lui prend beaucoup de temps. Il est néanmoins le maitre d'ouvrage en ce qui concerne les travaux d'aménagement divers. Je mets aisément la main à la pâte, mais j'aurai besoin de quelqu'un de bricoleur afin de m'aider à avancer dans ce projet.
  Vous pourriez aussi nous aider dans les petits travaux liés à l'entretien ou la vie de la maison (couper du bois, rangement, peinture,jardinage selon vos affinités)

  I am a certified english and dutch teacher, however I haven't spoken dutch for a while, but I guess it could still be helptful :-) Pascal has learnt english when we spent 2 years in Ireland a long time ago ! It is quite easy for us to communicate in english with any volunteer. Besides, our son's girlfriend is japanese, and my sisters's husband is venezuelian. Sometimes, this makes us travel a lot even when at home!

  Unterkunft

  Private house at the side of the village. There are 4 bedrooms and one bathroom. The view on the coutryside is beautiful.
  There are 2 possibilities for the hosting: we have a bedroom with a doubble bed. There is a fully refurbished caravan in the garden (but you would need to use our bathroom).
  The kitchen is available . You can prepare your own meals or share ours.
  We will be offering either ingredients for 3 meals or invite volunteers to share our meals.

  Maison familiale, sur grand terrain, en bordure de village. Une seule salle de bain. Vue imprenable sur l'horizon se déployant à plus de 30 km. Très calme.
  Parking très aisé.
  Nous mettons une chambre à disposition d'une ou 2 personnes (10m2). Il est également possible de camper sur notre grand terrain, tout en bénéficiant des commodités de la maison.
  La cuisine est à disposition, les repas peuvent se penser collectivement ou séparément selon les rythmes de chacun.

  Was noch ...

  Huy is a nice town, with its castle, collegial church and old market place. It is quite nice to have a drink on the market place, or to have an ice cream. There a re various culturall events throughout the year.
  In Modave (village besides ours), there is a nice historical castle with natural surroundings.
  Durbuy is about 35 minutes drive and is a very lovely town (the littlest town in Europe). It is a touristic place, with many restaurants and little craft shops.
